About The Owner

I am an avid surfer and with a passion for life and a passion for enjoying the great things of Hawaii. Once I discovered the oceans of the North Shore, I knew this would be my home.

The Owner purchased this house in 2001

Why The Owner chose Haleiwa

From the first time I came to Hawaii, I fell in love with the islands. I knew I wanted to have a home here but not sure where I would like to find my new home. After visiting the Ehukai Beach area, I knew of no other place I would love to be. The beach by our house is made of the softest coral sand, and the water seems to be the cleanest on the island. We love the area so much, that we not only offer our house, we offer a piece of our dream, and hope you enjoy the area as much as we do!

Great location but unit has some issues.

  • 3 of 5

The location of this unit is what made it a good place to stay. It is in walking distance to Pipeline which was ideal for our family, particularly my husband who was able to walk up early in the morning to check out the waves.

Booking with Olga was quite easy. The response time was fair given the time differences.

There were however some issues, starting with Olga's lack of final contact which was when she was to give us the exact location and code to enter the property.

Thank goodness for the visitors in the neighbouring unit who had the cleaner (Natasha's) number. After an overnight flight and drive to the North Shore, to arrive with no way of accessing the property was incredibly stressful. Natasha was available to help us out which we appreciated.

The unit itself is in desperate need of some maintenance and TLC. The exterior is covered in mould (as are the outside of the curtains) and the outdoor furniture is dilapidated. We did receive a discount upon booking which was a bonus but when you consider there is a substantial cleaning fee we did expect it to be better maintained. Inside is quite nicely appointed but showing signs of wear and tear.

The kitchen is poorly equipped, lacking some basics like a sharp knife. A note to tea drinkers - there seems to be a lack of kettles in Hawaiian rentals, saucepans and microwaves did the trick.

The TV was not working - a cable issue with poor instructions on how to resolve (though we didn't report this as we were happy to play cards and chat).

My advice when booking is to maintain constant contact with Olga and ensure that you have all the information you need before arrival. Overall I would still recommend this property because of its location and it comfortably accommodated our family of four adults. With some work it would be ideal.

Great place! Excellent service!

  • 5 of 5

We came to Hawaii very last minute and Olga was so accommodating and helped us get everything set up. The place was clean, close to a fantastic surfing beach, and had water pressure and hot water that I envied. I would recommend this location for anyone wanting to stay on the North Shore.

Excellent location

  • 5 of 5

Perfect location on the North Shore for our family. Everything was so trails, world famous surf breaks, hikes on the ridge line, Etc. The kitchen was convenient to prepare meals and the bedrooms were comfortable. Most importantly, we had an emergency with the toilet tank overflowing due to a malfunction, and the owner Olga placed us in the other unit and she chose to credit us a night's stay for the inconvenience. Although this emergency rarely happens, the manner in which she handled the situation was greatly appreciated. We will definitely stay here again!

Nice place great location

  • 4 of 5

We stayed in September for 6 nights, and had a lovely time. Its really close to a perfect tranquil beach and is clean and good value. The owners have also considered your needs with the little things which add value. There are bikes and snorkelling kits provided in the garage as well as a coin operated laundry. You can bike to the Food land at Sharks Cove in 5 minutes or walk there in 20. The transaction with Olga was easy and she came across friendly and helpful. The unit is fairly spacious with 2 bedrooms and a large lounge. The deck outside could probably be done up /cleaned up a bit but we rarely sat our there as we were always on the beach! There is noise from the main road but I didn't notice it after a while. The property was a bit tricky to locate, its on a side road parallel with the main road! highly recommended good value for money!

Clean, Basic - Everything you need

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for 4 nights over the New Year period with our 2 kids aged 6 & under. It's not the ritz but everything we needed was in the house. A full kitchen (yes, minus the dishwasher but, hey) tidy bathroom & generous living area meant plenty of room to relax. Our boys loved running around the fenced off outdoor area. The beach access was fantastic - 100m down the road. Thanks for letting us use your house.

Perfect location

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect place for our family. Really just steps to an almost empty beach, except for the life guard. An easy walk to Starbucks for a morning coffee by Sharks Cove, or take one of the bicycles. For our first time to Hawaii, this place allowed us peace and relaxation away from tourist crazy Waikiki.
