About the property

4BD/2Ba, 3000 sq ft open concept home with wraparound deck and sweeping views

This serene property is located on a quiet hilltop in California's wine country. The 4 bedroom 2 bath rustic contemporary house is newly renovated, top to bottom, with all new designer furnishings and beautiful landscaping. Take in the outdoors on the wrap-around deck with new patio furniture, or relax in the hammocks in the front-yard over-looking the surrounding forests. For meals, gather around the natural stone island in the kitchen or the big dining room table. If you'd prefer to stay outside, there is a large fully equipped outdoor kitchen with BBQ and a large farmhouse style table on the patio. In the evenings, enjoy the large propane fireplace in the living room or the large outdoor fireplace on the patio - which makes for cozy nights in the winter season. High quality furnishings, finishes and linens complete the resort feel.

The house is located on a large property in hilly countryside adjacent to the Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument north of San Francisco in California's Wine Country. The property provides a nice mix of seclusion and access to amenities and recreation. It is conveniently situated within driving distance of Napa wineries, Lake Berryessa activities (boating, waterskiing, fishing) and marinas, and wilderness trails. Putah Creek wilderness area is also close by for world class trout fishing and great hiking opportunities.

The house is fully furnished with a large open concept kitchen/living/dining area with hickory hardwood floors throughout. The deck is a signature feature with sweeping views of the mountain forest and countryside. At night the hilltop location, seclusion, and clear skies make for unparalleled stargazing.

The property has 2.5 miles of well maintained private hiking trails rising hundreds of feet from the house for guests enjoyment and providing incredible views. Off the trail, there is a spot to set up a tent for camping under a lone oak tree on a round-top hill if you're looking for a bit more of an outside adventure for part of your stay.

Looking for sun? When its foggy in the Bay Area, its often sunny at the property with highs typically in the mid-80's - 100's late spring through early fall (high season) and 70+ degrees November through March (low season). Temperatures routinely average 20-40 degrees warmer than San Francisco and 10 degrees warmer than even the town of Napa, just a short drive from the property.

Perfect family getaway

  • 5 of 5

My family and I visited this property last weekend and celebrated my dads 50th birthday. Everything was perfect at the house and we enjoyed every minute spent there! We comfortably slept 12 and could also all eat together at the two large tables available either outside or inside. The pictures definatley do not do this place justice! And it looks like they have added a few more gorgeous pieces of furniture since they last posted photos. We were grateful for the wifi because a few of us had homework to do over the weekend (while relaxing on the patio chairs). The kitchen was fully equipped to cook for 12 people and even had nice platters for us to serve with. The only obstacle we encountered was getting the coffee pot to work (slightly devastating for us coffee lovers) luckily the owners even had two coffee presses we could use to save the morning. I can say the house had something to offer for all of us- trails to hike for my uncle, breathtaking views for my grandma, games and entertainment for my young cousin, comfortable bedding for all, and plenty of space for all of us to visit! We spent pretty much the whole weekend at the house- I recommend stocking up on your groceries before getting there. We also brought our own personal speaker which was nice because the one provided by the owners didn't have Bluetooth. Make sure you read about the windy country road entrance that the owner warns about. Also let anyone who is meeting you there know as well. They might need to park at the bottom if their car is small or two wheel drive. Check out time on Sunday was early but we still had time to make a huge breakfast, pack up, and clean up and then we enjoyed the rest of our day going for a drive around the lake and then went into napa for the day to visit a few wineries. Beautiful property that we definitely will never forget! Thank you rob and Michelle for sharing your slice of heaven with us!!!

Owner's Response: We've now replaced the faulty coffee maker, so guests no longer have to worry about that. We've also done some more work on the driveway, adding another layer of AB coating and grading it, to make it a smoother ride up the hill for guests' convenience.

Very spacious and practical house with a unique location

  • 5 of 5

This is house is for hanging out with family or friends. All the appliances and equipment you need for cooking are there, including several wine bottle openers. The washer and dryer are solid. You will never run out of towels. The fridge is big. The view from the terrace is breathtaking. Taking in the serenity of the night with copious amounts of excellent wine is priceless. For provisions, we suggest Whole Foods in Napa, which is just a 20-25 min drive from the house. If you don't have a 4WD, rent one.

The Bird House

  • 5 of 5

I was looking for a place to spend my girlfriends 30th birthday and i came across Rob's Property. He has reasonable prices for such an amazing property. He responded quickly to my message unlike most other places that didn't. The place is quite a drive from the fwy since you have to go through very winding roads to get there and make sure you don't forget to bring everything you need since it is about 40 mins from the nearest store.

Once you reach the front gate you have to drive through a gravel road that is steep and winding as well. It may be quite a challenge for 2 wheel drive vehicles but doable. Everything is worth it once you gt to the top. The view is amazing and the house is spacious and very open feel. There is plenty of space in the backyard and patios to hangout and relax. We loved the mini fireplace by the grill that kept us warm while hanging out at night. Beds are comfortable and we had plenty of space for people to sleep. We had an amazing stay and would recommend to friends. The only problem is the water with a smell d/t the well water and if possible to smoothen out the steep gravel to help small cars make it to the top easier. Other than that everything is perfect, if you want a getaway with a relaxing view, this place will definately have you coming back. Thank you Rob!

Owner's Response: There is a convenience store 3 miles from the property and another gourmet coffee shop and convenience store recently opened up just 5 miles away. The nearest large grocery stores, restaurants, etc. are actually only 11 miles away (~15 minute drive). These are in the opposite direction from which most guests' arrive on their way up to the property. More details on these and other local amenities are provided in a detailed guidebook, which we typically provide to guests. That said, the best way to enjoy the property is to stock up on groceries on your way up to the house and cook while you're there. The kitchen and outdoor BBQ/kitchen area are both fabulous areas for cooking and dining, and the house is fully stocked with all the serving items you'll need. To address the well water, we recently installed a Culligan water purifying system. For drinking water, there is a reverse osmosis system in the house. So any taste/softness issues with drinking water are no longer a problem.

Unique wine country experience

  • 5 of 5

The bird house exceeded all our expectations. This is a large property up in the hills of wine country. Our stay was in the Fall, so the changing colors on the trees made it extra special up there. After a long day of wine tasting, the house was a great place to come back to and chill outside on the deck while BBQ'ing dinner. The house itself has a large open living room and kitchen area for entertaining and the big indoor fireplace was a highlight. For wine tasting, we used a van service rented in Napa to pick us up and take us to all the local wineries, which worked very well. We enjoyed the wineries along Silverado Trail the most. The hiking trail on the property was also a highlight for us - it winds up to the top of a hill with outstanding views of the hills and lake, and was a great way to start our day. Overall, a great Fall weekend for us - highly recommended.

A trip to the wineries

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful experience at this home. The house was way up in the mountains and has a wonderful view. The home was equipped with all your necessities. Very clean and well maintained. We did a lot of cooking meals and the kitchen and outdoor grill was perfect! Great outdoor porch! Loved it here!!! It was quite away from the wineries
