Once inside this charming lakeside cottage you’ll find it hard to believe the city of Chicago is less than 50 miles away. Nestled at the foot of a hill along a spring-fed non-motor lake is the Old Chicago Inn’s Lake County Cottage. This two story, three bedroom cottage can sleep up to eight people. It has a large, fully equipped kitchen with gas range and dishwasher, laundry facilities, spacious living areas with wood burning fireplace and satellite television, a master bedroom with custom picture window for incredible sunrise views of the lake, a large deck equipped with propane grill and four person hot tub, large yard with many trees and of course your own lake shore beach with outdoor fire pit and an assortment of inflatable floats, a four person paddle boat, and a canoe.
Ample parking is available in the cottage’s circular drive. Pets welcome with deposit. Easy access to the city via the Metra train system.

I've been in the hospitality business in Chicago for about 20 years. My husband and I run a pub style bar and restaurant that is best known as a great place for karaoke. We also operate a 10 room B&B near Wrigley field in Chicago. Our cottage in Grayslake, Illinois is a retreat we enjoy when we want a quick getaway from the city without having to travel too far. We love to travel and like comfortable but simple settings, places that feel like home and we want you to feel the same. We love history and have lots of cool antiques at our B&B which also is home to Room 13, a prohibition style speakeasy. We like classic cocktails, jazz, art and baseball too! We love Chicago and Lake County and are happy to give you insider tips and recommendations, especially for unique, independent places.

The reason we picked this property is because it is so quick and easy to get to from Chicago and althought it is still in the Greater Chicago area, when you are inside looking out at the lake you feel like you are "up north." We also love the village itself; Grayslake has friendly people, unique businesses a farmer's market (twice a week in season) and a sense of history. And there are several parks and nature preserves to explore nearby.
The views from the deck are great. Sunrise here is special - especially front the master bedroom upstairs. Birds abound here to - we have even seen migrating swans in the spring and fall here. The decor is ecletic and we hope you 'll enjoy some of our unique finds.
We were very impressed with this little place in the middle of Lake County and feel fortunate that we found a gem where there aren't many options like this. Description and photos are accurate. Property was cleaned and well maintained. The house is really located right on the lake and gives beautiful views during the entire day. While it is on a busy road, you can still walk to downtown Grayslake but is also nearby to grocery stores and everything else you need for your stay. The owners were extremely helpful in making my reservation and answering questions. While the house did not have wifi when we stayed there, the owners said they were working on that. But it was actually nice to not have it and encouraged everyone to look up from their screens at each other!
Volo Auto Museumand Antique Mall is a unique attraction not far from us. Other places popular with our guests include Great America Theme Park and Hurrican Harbor as well as Gurnee Mills Outlet Mall and the McHenry Drive-In Theater.
