My family and I enjoyed this home very much. It is very well maintained, in a quiet neighborhood, yet close enough to shopping, the beach and the historic homes. The owner was always quick to answer any questions that we had. I would definitely rent this home again.

Relaxing Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this vacation home for a week to celebrate my parents' 60th wedding anniversary with our family. The outside screened porch was lovely to be outdoors without the worry of bugs. Having a nice big bedroom on the first floor was wonderful so my parents did not have to deal with stairs. The house is exactly as indicated and pictured on the site. The kitchen was well stocked and we cooked dinner in most nights. The area is very quiet and peaceful but close enough to the action to enjoy all that Cape May has to offer. Dave was a pleasure to deal with and we would definitely stay here again in the future.

Enjoyable Home

  • 5 of 5

My family and I rented this house for ten days this past summer and it suited us very well. We did not have the issues that the previous tenant mentioned in their review. The house was clean and beachy. The furniture was comfortable and in good condition and the kitchen is fully stocked with the needed amenities. We found that the location was great for us, many walkable places that were kid friendly including the beach. The neighborhood was quiet and friendly and the house offers lots of yard space. We especially enjoyed the screened in porch and spent tons of time out there. We found the house to be accurately portrayed in the listing and very comfortable for our stay, we would highly recommend it to other renters and plan on renting it again in the future.

Disappointing stay

  • 2 of 5

Rented house for a week to attend wedding in Cape May. Upon entering the home I expected a fresh, clean smelling house instead the house smelled musty and old as if it was not occupied for some time. The bedspreads on the beds were old and very worn. The living room furniture/upholstery was grubby and I covered it with a throw cover before sitting on it. The photos on the web site of the bedrooms were not the same as the actual bedrooms. Other guests had rented homes in the area and beach passes were provided. No beach passes were provided with the home. The kitchen was adequate but small. Parking was good. I plan on returning to Cape May as I really enjoyed the town but I will not be renting this home again or recommending it to others.

Owner's Response: Our Response to “Disappointing stay” We have been renting our Cape May home since 2005 and have never received a negative review, prior to this. We aim to provide a quality experience for everyone who shares our home with us so that they may enjoy the home and town as much as we do. Our home is “sold out” every summer with many of our tenants being repeat customers from the previous summer. We rented our home this summer for six weeks before this tenant and four weeks after this tenant and did not receive any complaints from any of the other ten customers. Since 2005, we have returned customers’ security deposits, in full, on every occasion with the exception of two instances. The writer of this review did not receive their full security deposit back, as a result of the following: The rental terms include an arrival after 2:00 p.m. on the first day and a departure by 10:00 a.m. on the last day. This four hour window allows the professional cleaning company, which we engage, to clean after every rental. On their departure day, the cleaning company arrived after 10:00 a.m. only to find the renters, not only still occupying the house, but not making any attempts to vacate in a timely manner. The cleaning company made another visit to the house during the four hour window only to find the renters still there. The house had to be ultimately cleaned after the next customer had already arrived. The writer of this review was charged for the cleaning company’s multiple visits as well as for the inconvenience to the next customer. We have kept a journal in our home for guests to share their experiences and their stay with us and other guests. Nothing but kind words have ever been expressed about our home. We will continue to make all efforts to provide a comfortable, enjoyable and clean home for all of our guests. We look forward to having you enjoy our home.

Great place to split with another small family!

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of 4 and shared this house with another family of 4 and it worked out perfect! The house is split with two bedrooms downstairs with a bath and two bedrooms upstairs with a bath! We took turns making dinner, cleaning, etc. Use of the grill and toys in the shed was great to entertain our little ones (Four kids 4 years old an under!) The kitchen is great with tons of cookware/dishes on hand! The location is great! We brought our bikes and were able to have a blast biking EVERYWHERE! Only "complaint" is we couldn't get the WiFi to work! I even called the listing agent but still couldn't figure it out! It probably worked out in my favor though because then I could devote more time to my family and not be distracted by the computer. :) This is a great house and I would definitely book it again! (I would suggest bringing TP, paper towels, and hand soap as we ran out of those during our stay!)

Cape May Retreat

  • 5 of 5

This is an excellent home!! Clean and well equipped. It is a bit far from downtown Cape May, but the advantage is this is very quiet and restful and that's what we wanted. If you are able to walk distance - it's about a mile/mile and a half to downtown (not a great judge of distance, but maybe the owner can clarify). The loudest noises we heard were the 'clippity clop' of carriage horses as they returned to the barn at night. It has a lovely screened in porch out front which we used a lot!

Just note that the size beds that were listed were not correct - the rooms have first floor - one had a king and the other a double and on the second floor one has a king and the other has two doubles. So there is plenty of room. Full baths with tub/shower on each floor. Small but very well equipped kitchen. We'd stay there again for sure.

And to share a great find while we were there - the Presbyterian Church at Decatur and Columbia sells parking spaces every day for a daily rate less than the parking meters in town. And the money goes to a good cause!

Rental company the owner uses was also very easy to work with.

Owner's Response: Hi Linda, Thank you for your kind words. We're glad you enjoyed your stay enough to return. We also enjoy that clickety clack. I checked the listing to make sure that the bed info is conveyed correctly and it seems to be. 2 kings, 1 double in 1 room and 2 doubles in the 4th room. Maybe there was a typo in your contract. Where ever the mistake was, please let me know so we can rectify it for future rentals. Thanks again, Dave

Relaxing spot in a relaxing town. Southern tip of the secluded part of the Jersey Shore. The beach is right there and the bird watching is everywhere.
