Great Place to Stay in Walla Wall

  • 5 of 5

We were a group of 7 adults in town for the Midsummer Musical Retreat on the Whitman campus. The house was super-convenient to campus, a two-block walk plus walking on campus. We parked the cars and did not use them all week. Everything we needed was provided in the house. I loved the large walk-in closets with comfy robes hanging in them for each guest. There were plenty of large fluffy towels, beds were comfortable, and the house is quiet. Although we were all coming and going in the morning and evening, none of us were disturbed by others' movements. (A previous reviewer complained about street noise, but we think maybe that person is extra sensitive, as we heard nothing and had no need for earplugs.) We weren't cooking there, and only a few were eating breakfast, but had we been cooking, the kitchen is well equipped. Plenty of dishes, cookware, etc. Several of us brought bikes and had easy access to bike routes and trails. I would definitely recommend this house for anyone wishing to stay in Walla Walla for wine tasting, events at Whitman, or anything else the area has to offer.

Awesome Experience!

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect, and Nanqi was incredibly responsive whenever I contacted her. The house is beautiful, close to town, and spacious; the pictures do not do it justice. My friends and I loved every minute of staying there!

Beautiful old house with some nice added updates (like A/C!)

  • 4 of 5

Four bedrooms easily accommodated seven of us, with plenty of spaces to spread out in and enjoy the beautiful old home. Had breakfast out back (better than evening, since it faces the setting sun). Easy walk into Downtown (20 minutes?) and situated in the beautiful area near the College for nice relaxing walks or jogs. Agree, though, with a review that said to bring earplugs, as there can be some traffic noise from the nearby streets.

Awesome owners and house!

  • 4 of 5

First off, Nanqi the property owner was great to work with and so accommodating! The treats we arrived to at the house were such a lovely touch! The home is in excellent condition and just how we anticipated, so that was great. It is a short 10 minute walk to the downtown area so it was perfect for our group who didn’t want to drive and park downtown after a day of wine tasting. There were extra linens for the futon and everything was spotless when we arrived. The house is wonderfully decorated, and comfortable. And even with all those people in the house, it was fairly noise-resistant so late sleepers weren't bothered by the early risers. The only things that lowered my rating from a 5 to a 4 were there were some missing supplies, i.e. there was no handsoap (the bottle was empty) in the upstairs bathroom, and there were no trash bags for the garbage so we had to use some small grocery bags instead. We looked around and couldn’t find any replacements or extras anywhere so it would have been nice if extra soap was stocked under the sinks, or somewhere easy to access. And not to be overly picky but we had a group of 8 and there were not enough drinking glasses or wine glasses for that many people, so we would have liked to see that better stocked, but plenty of other kitchen items! The other thing I thought was rather strange was there was an envelope requesting a tip for the house-keeper as well as sign posted stating the “standard” was $5 per person per day of our stay which we found an exorbitant amount, and it made us feel awkward for not leaving that much (which was about the same as some properties cleaning fees, so we were wondering if it was a tip or an attempt to cover part of the cleaning fee??). Our group consensus was a tip is optional and should not be pushed onto people. Other than that we loved the house and the owner was so wonderful to us, we would definitely be back!

Owner's Response: Hi Stephanie and guests. Thank you very much for the constructive review. I am glad your group had a great time overall. I will definitely restock all that are insufficient: garbage bags, hand soap, glasses. I will double check to see if there are anything else that might have fallen low in supply. Tips are absolutely optional. I will check on the verbiage on the suggested amount. It might have been left over by the previous manager, and you are right, it is absolutely OK if you don't leave extra at all. You guys are great guests and I hope you will return to us soon in the future.

Wonderful and Relaxing Retreat

  • 5 of 5

My group of 9 friends found the Clinton House perfectly equipped for all of our needs during our Fall Release weekend stay. We took full advantage of all the home has to offer, including the large dining table, hot tub, piano, and close proximity (walking distance) to the many tasting rooms and eateries on Main Street. The beds and linens were super cozy and the bath towels and robes were plentiful, as were the dishes and glassware. This is an ideal rental for a group of 8-10 and the price was certainly right for our group of young professionals from Seattle and Portland.

If you intend to tour the wineries during your visit, consider hiring the chauffeured car service available through the Clinton House. It definitely beats drawing straws to decide who has to be DD for the day!

I also want to note the exceptional quality of the customer service, both in making our reservation and during our stay. I have rented many homes on VRBO and this ranks among the best experiences I have had as a customer. We would certainly rent this home again on a future visit to Walla Walla.

wedding party

  • 4 of 5

Overall the property met expectations and was large enough to hold our entire group (10 people). The rooms were clean and well decorated. The house is very close to a busy road so the road noise at night was a little louder than we had expected. Also, four of the bedrooms are upstairs with only one bathroom - so plan accordingly! There is a nice bathroom downstairs as an alternative option, but it goes through the potential 5th room to access. Overall lots of space in common areas.
