The perfect family meeting spot
We loved our stay. The cabin was in town so you could walk to a lot of places but because of the location you also felt like you were in the woods. The place was well maintained and charming. The only minor issue was the futon would not fold down, I think someone has bent the frame at some point. But like I said this was so minor. I would love to come back in the summer or fall and sit on the porch and use the fire pit.
Thank you so much for the feed back and nice review, we work hard to give you a place out of the ordinary to stay.
spacious cabin !
Wi fi and cable
Our door Fire pit
Many deer on property
Only down side was I didn’t relize it is adjacent to to park/popular swimming area
So there was no privacy
Very busy road
I would stay again if I was in the area!
We feel that owners add is misleading, outdated and oversold
We were told it was secluded but when we arrived we quickly realized that it wasnt at all...across the river was a big complex and vehicles drove past all weekend! Felt like the 570 we paid for 2 nights was rediculous after seeing the real location and situation!
It's got no yard at all...just a small area for a fire pit and for parking in front.
The pictures were not up to date...looks like when cabin was fairly new and wasnt all grown up along the river.
Went to use the grill and the grate wasnt even for that grill and it was missing flame protector and the proper grate so burnt food was on the menu.
We had our 3 kids along so figured bunk beds would be awesome for them...well at least till my daughter said dad there is something wrong with my matress...so I go look and it had no padding left in it at all.
We used jacuzzi tub the last night after kids went to bed and had great hot water but something was up with the on/off button on it and it was extremely loud so really couldnt relax much.
TV reception was horrible
Lack of plans to make eggs or bacon in
Lack of plates and forks..we had to wash dishes to be able eat the second night ( didnt think that would be the case)
Lastly you are far from all of the major attractions
Wifi worked good
Window air conditioners worked good
Town is really historic and neat and in a cool setting
Inside pics were accurate
Plenty of utensils to use
Fire pit had wood stacked up by it for our use
Wrap around deck was cool
Able to back right up to the door to load n unload
Has a nice lean to if you were to get bad weather
People are very quick to respond
Town people are nice
The town has alot to offer as far as shops etc
Plenty of towels n wash cloths
Overall we regretted renting it but it was not horrible for our first time experience in the black hills....live n learn as they say!
I was taken back by the recent review of River Trail Log Cabin, in all the years we have rented this property, 4 and 5 star reviews have been the norm, over 50% have been 5 star reviews the rest being 4 star with a lone 3 star review. We take our guests feed back very seriously, whether it be by review or remarks left in the diary we have in each of our rentals. We have never had a complaint on the location (secluded but in town on the River Walk). We will address the BBQ grill and bunk mattresses along with our off season maintenance this Winter. I invite our prospective guests to read all of our reviews prior to renting, and please call us if you have questions.

It was everything we had hoped it would be.
Near downtown but located where it feels like secluded in woods. Great for families.
Wonderful view, lovely log cabin!
Beautiful log cabin in Hot Springs but out of the way so their are no neighbors right beside you. It is next to a trail & stream. Deer came through the front yard every night. Loved the huge tub! Refrigerator stopped working and Patrick came right away to check it for us! Some how huge bumble bees are getting in to the cabin. We found 3 when we arrived in the living room & bedroom. Then we found a few more in those areas during our weeks stay so we had to be careful and watch where we stepped because they would be on the floor walking around and they were huge!! Not sure how they were getting in but other than that we had a wonderful stay and would be more than glad to stay there again. :)
Hot Springs charm!
What a nice place to live out of for the few days we were in the Black Hills. My only draw back is the open ceilings across the cabin from a noise perspective. The use of the washer/dryer made it simple to pack lighter and do a "Little Laundry" when we were there! A nice place to stay for a family!
Located along banks of Fall River in Historic Hot Springs, Freedom Trail is right out your front door. Great access to sandstone district. Perfect headquarters for touring Black Hills attractions, Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park, Wind Cave Nat'l Park, Mammoth Site, Wild Horse Sanctuary, Evans Plunge and more!
A short walk on The Freedom Trail will take you to The Cost of Freedom Tribute! August 1 - 4, 2013, Proudly on display a replica of The Vietnam Wall along with the Quilt of Tears to honor, respect, and remember men and women who served, and to pay specific tribute to those who gave all in that service.
