About Steve or Frances

Frances and Steve have four grown children who have left us with empty bedrooms to fill with visitors while we travel. Steve is a semi-retired pharmacist who has recently completed a Master of Arts (in History)as well as writing a book. Frances is a retired bookkeeper who prefers spending her time biking, knitting, cross-stitch, sewing, yoga and Pilates. We made our first trip to Europe in 2001 and have been hooked on travel since then. In our travels we quickly learned how important clean, and well maintained accommodations, close to amenities and local attractions, are to an enjoyable vacation.

Steve or Frances purchased this house in 1998

Why Steve or Frances chose Fairfield

Our house allows you to feel at home, away from the noise and bustle of downtown, but still within minutes of all the attractions that Victoria offers. Our house is a quality, well kept, professionally cleaned home. It is our principal residence and so is fully equipped. We live in a very safe and walkable neighbourhood and city. We are close to a frequent bus route to downtown & the university and walking distance from the Royal Jubilee Hospital.

What makes this house unique

From our beautiful Japanese Maple tree to the formal dining room and comfortable living room and bedrooms you will fall in love with our house just as we did 16 years ago. A ten minute walk takes you to a beautiful beach with spectacular views of the Olympic Mountains. Looking out at the trees surrounding our back deck you will hardly believe you are in the city, not the country. Although we are only a 15 minute easy walk to the grocery store we can offer grocery purchase service ready for you in the fridge for when you arrive. Our cleaning lady is fantastic and can be hired by you while here if you desire.

Beautiful house, great location

  • 5 of 5

4 of us (my wife and I, 2 grown up sons) stayed here for 9 nights as part of a longer trip to the Island celebrating our 30th Wedding Anniversary. We are familiar with Victoria and the Oak Bay area so this was the ideal location for us. The house is beautiful and is a credit to the owners Frances and Steve. Everything was very well documented and there were detailed instructions on all aspects of living in the house as well as useful recommendations for local facilities. Blighty's Bistro (Oak Bay Ave) and Bubby's Kitchen (Cook St) were both excellent for dinner and breakfast respectively. The welcome gift of a box of Rogers chocolates was also a really nice touch.

All in all we couldn't have asked for any more from the owners or the house and would highly recommend it.

Fantastic Property in a Beautiful Neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

I spent nearly a week at Steve and Frances' house along with 6 members of my family. It is a beautiful house will all of the trappings of home. Steve and Frances are experts at renting their home to vacationers. They left detailed information about every conceivable aspect of their house. All of the bedrooms had fresh sheets along with towels already laid out. They have a great kitchen that we used several times. There were multiple places where you can sit, relax and have a good conversation.

Staying at their house made a great trip unforgettable for us. Everybody in my party remarked, several times, what a great find this house was. It is so close to everything great in Victoria. At no point did we have to drive more then 20 minutes to any location in the city. Most of our drives were closer to 10 minutes. The neighborhood is absolutely beautiful, too.

The bottom line is that I can unequivocally recommend this place to anyone staying in Victoria. If I'm ever back there, I'll be sure I'm staying at Steve and Frances' house.

Excellent Family Rental!

  • 5 of 5

Thank You Steve and Frances!

Great stay for our family of four with our 3yr  old and 8 month old. Good location, very comfortable and clean. Many toys and books to keep our little ones busy, including Netflix, and safe as well with baby gates throughout, as well as playpen and high chair provided. Good sized comfortable rooms and beds, and kitchen with everything you need with open pantry full of spices. BBQ on back deck was used several times as well. Quiet neighborhood and easy access to downtown and other destinations. Tourist Maps and books were a nice added touch.

Steve and Frances were easy to deal with, and thank you much for the welcome gift.

Definitely recommend! !

Wonderful property

We had a great time in this home. The baby amenities that the house had were a great help. We will look for this property when we visit Victoria next.

So convenient to touristy places. Well stocked kitchen which helped when we prepared our own meals. Great place for our young grandchildren, they enjoyed the toys and books as well.

Our home is located in a quiet, tree lined neighbourhood. There are three pubs, restaurants, an excellent grocery store, pharmacy and liquor store within easy walking distance. We are a 10 minute walk to the beach and a 10 minute bike ride or 20 minute walk to downtown. The bus routes are close by to downtown (20mins) or the university (20mins). Victoria is a city of 350,000 people with a beautiful, walkable downtown and harbour; it is a perfect place for whale watching tours. The Provincial Museum is one of the best in Canada with excellent First Nations and travelling exhibits. Victoria has excellent opportunities for outdoor activities; golfing, kayaking, sailing, mountain biking, hiking and swimming. We are on the doorstep of the West Coast Trail and Long Beach. Close by is the world famous Butchart Gardens. A ferry ride finds you in Vancouver; gateway to Whistler Mountain, host of the 2010 Olympic Games. Seattle is a couple of hours away by ferry over the beautiful Juan de Fuca Strait or 20 minutes by plane. Include an Alaskan cruise in your vacation plans and you will never regret it.
