A very special place to stay in this charming Berber fishing village. An exceptional interior designed property on the beach front combines Moroccan style with Western comfort. A recently renovated 2 bedroomed apartment with 2 double bedrooms each with balconies, a spacious contemporary living/kitchen area with large sun-bathing/ dining terrace surrounded by bougainvillea and a third floor roof terrace with stunning views of the beach, coastline and Atlas mountains. This beautiful property has been sympathetically renovated to a high standard combining the best of Moroccan style using local materials together with high quality kitchen, bathrooms and living areas. It's the perfect place to relax, unwind and enjoy that special something that Taghazout has to offer. Just watch the local fisherman bring in their catch in colourful wooden boats or experience the famous surf and catch a wave or two or simply enjoy a glass of wine watching the stunning pink sunsets.
The house was as described. Very clean, easy and comfortable to live in. Decor is tasteful and leaves you space for your own things. Arrival and checkout were simple, Habib the housekeeper was wonderful.
Location was great. We felt embedded in the village. The shopkeeper outside the house knew us by the end of our week, and greeted us with smiles every time we passed. You ARE going to feel like part of the village, including the calls to prayer from the mosque and similar. So a slight sense of adventure is required, and an understanding that life outside your door is not going to follow UK/EU norms. That said, the vibe in the village is relaxed and welcoming, very peaceful.
The beach (which you can see from the balcony, only 30 meters from the house) was comfortable and safe. Felt private, we often had the whole thing to ourselves.
We loved it. As a fishermans' town, Tagazout is a little rough around the edges but with its stunning beaches and staying at Timitash made our stay fantastic. The open plan living space/kitchen and dining roof terrace were the perfect place to relax and socialise after a long day at the beach. The top roof terrace was perfect for sunset yoga sessions while being watched by the local dozy cats. The interior finishes and furniture are very well chosen to compliment the beautiful pink flowers that surround the house. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen throughout our stay - you can get most things in the shops in Tagazout however make sure you collect beers and wine on your way over in Agadir.
Such a lovely place to stay in the heart of Taghazout. The house has been done very nicely and the view over the beach are great. We hired a car, which meant we were able to explore nearby beaches as well as Agadir and paradise valley. Habib looked after us for the whole week and his tagine was certainly the best we had. We hope to return with friends in the future.
We arrived late in Timitash late as we drove from Marrakech, Habib, the lovely guy who looks after the property waited for us until almost 1am. He helped us with our bags and escorted us to Timitash. It's easy to fall in love with the charm of Timitash, it's beautifully decorated with the charm of Morocco but with the refined elegance one would expect from a design magazine. The rooms are all higgledy piggledy which only adds to the charm. Both bedrooms are lovely, we opted for the room with the most windows. I couldn't wait to throw open the shutters in the morning and take in all that Taghazout has to offer. The bed in Timitash is the most comfortable bed i have ever slept in fyi. We awoke to the sound of Taghazout, that in inself is amazing and a world away from the UK. Maybe it's the blazing sunshine or the friendly attitude of everyone there but something about the place is magical! At about 8am you can look out of the windows in the large bedroom and see the fishermen selling the catch of the day from the beachside. Yes, Timitash is that well situated! If you take breakfast in l'Auberge you can watch the fishermen and see when they bring the best catch. I found 11am to be the time they usually bring lots more fish and choice. While we were there i bought two large large squid. Habib took us to the nearby market and i picked up all the food i thought we might need, eggs, honey, olive oil, fruit and veg.. all dirt cheap but all local and probably organic! ;) That evening Habib came round and we all cooked together. He makes the best tagine!! (Offer him some money for the ingredients and then let him work his magic..) We seared the squid on the BBQ provided by Timitash and we all sat and ate outside on the patio with the sounds of Berber drumming in the nearby restaurant. Whilst we were in Taghazout we went swimming in the sea, It was also nice to be able to put your toes into sand..:) I didn't feel i couldn't wear a bikini in Taghazout - It's a relaxed surfer town. Most afternoons were spent reclining on the sun terrace at the top of Timitash, we would put out our towels and lie in the sun until it went down, it was glorious! Timitsh has a fresh and plentiful supply of towels and also a washing machine which we made use of before we left. The shower is always hot in the afternoon which is great! Timitash is absolute perfection, Habib is a wonderful host and we will definitely be back to Morocco but only to Timitash. x
We had a very relaxing 6 lovely days at Timitash after spending 3 days in Marrakech. We hired a car and drove and we didn't have any issues driving and would recommend it for the combination of a city and beach break.
The cottage is over 3 levels with the bedrooms downstairs which were lovely and cool (it was 34 degrees c during the day!) and a lovely shower room. The living room and kitchen are lovely and open with the balcony with a great BBQ and amazing views. We didn't really use the roof terrace that much as it was too hot, apart from to watch the sun set.
The cottage has all the comforts of home, wifi, washing machine, comfy beds and a well equipped kitchen.
We did find that sleeping with the windows open we heard the call to prayer and the outboard motors for the fishing boats starting up at 5am every morning, but we got used to it quite quickly - it is Morocco! I think the other bedroom (up the step and with the seating area) might have been quieter.
Habib met us in Taghazout square and showed us around. The apartment was spotlessly clean with the beds freshly made. Habib can cook you some fish on the BBQ or a tagine, but we didn't take him up on the offer as we wanted to cook ourselves! The baguettes from the shops were amazing and really cheap we enjoyed a continental breakfast every morning along with some lovely fruit - there are so many little shops to get most things you need in Taghazout.
Taghazout has quite a few restaurants although they are all "dry". But it's no problem to buy your beer/wine in Agadir about 20 mins away, and have it chilling in the fridge after you're back from your meal. Although watch out for the traffic police on the way in/out of Agadir!
We had a surfing lesson whilst we were there. Great beaches and nice breaks. Our advice - try Mint Surf, we didn't, but wish we had. We saw their instructors after our lesson and they were in the water with the students - our lesson with Surf Berbere wasn't as in-depth (pardon the pun) as that. It was good, just not great. Also - slap on the waterproof max factor sun lotion - especially on your head/face. We used normal suncream and it wasn't enough - one day's surfing and we were burnt - with nice wet-suit tan lines...
Enjoy - we hope to return. Thanks for a lovely break, Timitash!
