About John Plucinski
My family settled in the North Fork in 1949 and we have lived or vacationed here ever since. Once a land of potato farms, we have watched it evolve into vineyards and horse farms which have maintained the rural beauty of this area. Wisteria Court will always hold a special place in our hearts as we had our wedding reception there. Since then we have enjoyed introducing our children and friends to this special place.
John Plucinski purchased this Chateau / Country House in 1984
Why John Plucinski chose South Jamesport
I purchased this from my parents who had owned the property since 1970 in order to keep it in our family. It has been the setting for numerous gatherings and vacations-- Christmas-tree trimming parties to Fourth of July BBQs.
What makes this Chateau / Country House unique
This is truly a unique home, built by a candy manufacturer from Manhattan. Rumor has it that President John F. Kennedy stayed here in 1960. From when you see the green-tile roof and expansive wrap-around covered porch, to when you first climb the red-carpeted staircase, you will know that this is a home like no other.

Our group of 9 adults had a fabulous time staying on this property. The house is spacious, clean, very well maintained, stocked with all imaginable amenities, and in a wonderful location. It was a perfect spot for my friends and me to stay during my son's wedding weekend.
Thanks the kind words. I'm glad the weather cooperated, and the ceremony came off without a hitch.
Beautiful home, great for a large group
Stayed at this location during Labor Day Weekend for a bachelorette party. It is close to all the North Fork vineyards. The home itself is charming and grand. It was big enough to accommodate a group of 14 with everyone sleeping comfortably and never having to wait too long for a bathroom. I would definitely stay here again.
John is super responsive and attentive. Easy transaction.
Had a wonderful time in a beautiful house
This house is an old Victorian that lives up to the pictures. We were here for a family wedding. We had a party of 14 and there was plenty of room to sleep and roam around. At one point I noticed that we had two different groups playing different board games and someone reading in the parlor, a couple of people on the porch and kids running around and there was plenty of space. A short walk to the beach, which we did several times, to fly kites and riding bikes was fun and safe. I personally live local, so I didn't sleep in the house, but my family all said it was comfortable sleeping. Each room has its own a/c. The Bride, who did not stay at the house either asked if on her wedding day they could come get a picture on the grand stairway, she did and it was beautiful. I thought the owner, John communicated very well and the experience overall was very good. We would definitely come back some time. Thank you.
It was great having you as guests. Glad you had a good time. Thanks for taking such good care of our home.
A step back in time
A charming and sumptuous home that never stopped amazing us. The grand feature is the wrap around porch. The air conditioning units were a bit noisy and, in such a large space, seemed woefully inadequate. It would have been good to be able to open a few windows for cross ventilation. The kitchen is small for a house that sleeps so many but was more than adequate. Very close to the beach and a wonderful neighborhood. The pluses greatly outweigh the negatives.
Glad you had a good stay. We installed an exhaust fan in the kitchen which kept the house at 68 degrees during the most recent heat wave.
We have a great stay in this lovely house on long island.
Lovely home for our reunion
This house was perfect for sleeping 4 couples and 6 kids; we had a great reunion! We especially enjoyed hanging out on the big porch overlooking the mature gardens! Out host John was responsive and helpful! Great stay!
Thanks Kim. We recently had our own family reunion where lots of great times where had on that porch. Glad you had a great time.
Jamesport is in the heart of the North Fork Wine Country with 24 vineyards all within easy driving distance-- many of which offer music, tours and tastings. The Peconic Bay is just a two block walk with gentle surf perfect for families. The town beach and marina is a five minute drive, complete with a playground, showers , lit tennis and basketball courts. The area is perfect for biking to let you explore the inlets and beaches, spy on herons and egrets, or get some pleasurable exercise. With so many farms surrounding the area, there is a wonderful array of fresh produce, pick your own strawberries, blueberries, peaches and apples-- not to mention freshly roasted corn, pony rides and petting zoos.
