About Deborah

While I was living in The Cottage (VRBO 384587) I noticed The Victorian three blocks away was in foreclosure. I love old houses! After seeing the monumental overhaul it needed, saying a few prayers, and talking to family and friends, I bought it...and was instantly overwhelmed!

First project: Put in a huge deck in back--the beautiful views kept me inspired during the long rehab. And now it's all finished and worth every bit of the TLC it required. Hopefully it blesses my guests as well!

Deborah purchased this house in 2007

Guestbook comments from the owner

family reunion

The Victorian is a beautiful home and the river views from the backyard deck are spectacular. Personally the house and Petersburg are filled with wonderful childhood memories for me so it is always special staying there.

Beautiful home with great views of the river

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at the Victorian. We enjoyed being close to the Creation Museum. The little town of Petersburg was quiet and peaceful with great history.

We enjoyed our stay and it was perfect for our group of 18.

We stayed for 3 nights and it was great for us all to have our own area and we could hang out together. The deck and views of the river were nice and the three season porch was perfect when the rain sprinkled and mosquitoes wanted to bite. An extra bonus we found was the Petersburg pantry and their awesome SWEET TEA! We also blew a fuse and Wanda responded quickly and got us back operational. Thanks again for the time and many memories made in Kentucky!

Wonderful place for extended family

  • 3 of 5

Our family was attending a wedding and the house was perfect for four families - 8 adults and 8 children. Everyone had a bed to sleep in and space to move around. We enjoyed watching the barges and boats on the river. Only draw back was the hot water - not enough for everyone to have a warm shower in the morning.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback...I'm sorry you didn't have enough hot water in the mornings! That would have been an easy fix, please feel free to contact us next time, we'll be happy to turn it up. (This was the first feedback of this kind we've received.) We're just a text, call, or email away, and the comfort of our guests is very important to us :-)

Great for our large family gathering!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed staying at the Victorian. The owner and management were very helpful and easy to work with. The view of the river was fantastic and we enjoyed being on the back deck watching the barges go by.

The kitchens have most things you would need. Some pots and skillets need replacing. The house was clean and comfy and plenty of space to sit and eat. We ate outside a lot because we loved being by the river.

The neighbors next to the house are a little sketchy but didn’t bother us. Enough space for 2 large vans and 1 minivan to park in front of the house.

We made use of the day beds and the little bed on the floor in the upstairs room that has a washer and dryer. Our boys thought that was the coolest room!

The mattresses could be updated to make it a little more pleasant night’s rest (there’s one with a hump in the middle). But overall we all slept really well and enjoyed the charm of this home. We made some wonderful memories there that we will cherish. Thanks Deborah for sharing your home with us!!!
