Few properties are available at an elevation of 11,000 ft. Breathtaking! (literally & figuratively)
Scrap the GPS to find this location. Intermittent cell service on the way up to the property. Owners where a dream when it came to helping us find landmarks to help us find our way. Property is very remote and beautiful. Some small wildlife had found its way inside the cabin as well as an abundance of insects, concentrated to windowsills and showers. Disappointed that there was no satellite or functioning DVD player as noted in amenities. The grounds were somewhat unkempt. Gun shell casings were lying around the deck and the property just had that feeling of "lack of preparedness for guests." Lack of deck furniture limited the enjoyment of the incredible view. Indoor furnishings were not conducive to relaxation. As remote a location as this is, I enjoyed the creativity with regard to the spring water collection system installed to facilitate running water and utilities. It does however need to be mentioned that the well pump and bladder tank are located behind a curtain in the master bedroom which, should someone flush a toilet or run water at night, will most certainly startle all occupants of the cabin.
As a builder/remodeler by trade, it was noted that this is a project cabin. Building materials were observed on part of the deck and it was evident that much of the work was likely being performed by the owners. Please don't let this discourage you from renting, for it was the location that sold us and we would visit again.
The area, the property, and the cabin were simply amazing. A beautiful drive to the top of the world and then mornings looking out over snow-capped peaks and evenings with the stars above. The cabin has all modern conveniences , appliances but due to it's remote location, months, flies and a few bugs do find their way in. I would highly recommend it for nature lovers but caution those who are looking for a five star hotel.
