Elizabeth/Plaza Midwood Retro Apartment with Porch

Bedrooms 1
Property type apartment
Minimum Stay 2 - 14 nights

About the property

1 Bedroom/1 Bath 2-4 Sleeps Walk To Restaurants, Galleries, Pubs And Shops

This property is part of the Home Collection-Charlotte's Boutique Furnished Residences. We have over 30 different residences all within 2 miles from downtown Charlotte!

This large (1,000 sq. ft.) ground floor 1br/1ba furnished apartment retains its original charm, with high ceilings, large double-hung windows and hardwood floors. Due to the large size, it's ideal for a couple to share for long stays, and can sleep 4 for shorter stays when using the comfortable queen sofabed.

There is an abundance of storage, especially for a building of this era. The radiator heat and window a/c units have been replaced with central heating and cooling. The kitchen has space for quick meals, and the large dining room is ideal for dinner parties or family get-togethers.

There are 2 flat-screen televisions, one in the living room and the other in the bedroom, and a small stereo system with ipod connections. A washer and dryer are within the unit, as is a dishwasher.

The front porch is great when the weather is nice, as there are many joggers, dog walkers and bicyclists out and about in the neighborhood.

Independence Park, just a couple of blocks away, is a neighborhood treasure, with a rose garden, reflecting pool, tree-lined paths and tennis courts.

The area has a young and vibrant feeling, with the residents proud of their neighborhood.

Within a half mile are more than a dozen restaurants, many pubs, an independent video rental store, and several vintage clothing and furniture shops.

My husband James and I travel extensively and prefer staying in apartments rather than hotels when we travel. Upon our return from a month renting a great place in Istanbul last summer, we decided to offer some of our properties here! We enjoy meeting new people and introducing them to our fair city. I'm a native Charlottean so can help provide a true local's perspective during your visit, which can be especially helpful for people relocating to Charlotte. Our clean and comfortable properties are located near Uptown Charlotte, in very walkable and safe neighborhoods. We try our best to provide a true home away from home. Thanks in advance for your interest and we look forward to hosting you.

Our company, The Home Collection - Charlotte, offers over 30 different residences in Charlotte, NC all within 2 miles of downtown!

Why Jim Hock chose Elizabeth

Location, location, location. Our walkable neighborhood provides the ability to live car-free, and when a car is needed, you can get anywhere in the area in minutes. Near both hospitals and close to the Uptown business district, you'll enjoy staying in the center of everything, but in a quiet residential neighborhood. As a native Charlottean, I can help guide you around our city, and can be especially helpful for those relocating to the area.

What makes this apartment unique

Comfortable and quiet 1br/1ba ground floor unit w/covered front porch. Ideal for long stays--snowbirds, consultants, visiting new grandchildren, interns etc. On-street parking directly next to apartment, great walkable, vibrant and young neighborhood

very enjoyable stay

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hawthorne Lane. Apartment was exactly as pictured. The location was convenient to many restaurants. Our main purpose for visiting Charlotte was to attend the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow. There was a parking lot for the tournament only 5 minutes from Hawthorne Lane so it was very convenient.

Apartment was clean and comfortable.

Charlie was great to work with and made sure that everything was perfect!

Where do you live?

Needs upgrading and updating

  • 3 of 5

The good: Charlie and his staff were very nice. When there was an issue they tried to fix it. I like the food, snacks, booze and wine they left. It was decorated very nice. Most of all it is in a great location. The unit seemed very clean. The bad: The kitchen is old and needs updating, such as a new stove, (although it does work) , and kitchen needs new counter tops. There is a constant gas smell in the kitchen. but we were reassured that it was safe. The bathroom sink is very old and gross with water stains that makes it look dirty. You can not put your hands or toothbrush under the facet because it is too close to the sink. The heat went out twice although they were prompt when fixing it. It is a good thing it was not too cold or too hot outside. The building is a very old building that needs to be upgraded to the level of their other properties.

We would stay in one of their other properties just not Hawthorne.

We do love Charlotte and we visit often, because our son lives here. There are many good restaurants within walking distance, and a great areas to walk or run. Our dog Tessie enjoyed her walks.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for staying with us again at The Home Collection - Charlotte's Boutique Furnished Residences! We love it when returning guests explore our other buildings for their Charlotte visits. We offer a range of 30 furnished apartments within 2 miles of Uptown Charlotte. Our large and comfortable 1,000 sq. ft. Hawthorne Ln. apartments offer the best value in terms of space, and our C-Level Hermitage Court residences offer unsurpassed luxury on one of the city's premier streets. All of our accommodations offer art-filled, comfortable spaces in friendly, walkable neighborhoods. I am so happy to hear you found the place spotlessly clean and enjoyed the hard-to-beat location of the Elizabeth neighborhood, with Independence Park and the many nearby restaurants. I'm very sorry about the malfunctioning heat. We did the best that we could to address the problem quickly, but unfortunately it took 2 service calls. We do have completely updated 1br/1ba residences a few minutes away in Myers Park, which feature dual vanities and carrara marble in the bathroom, and brand new stainless appliances and quartz countertops in the kitchen. Please feel free to contact me prior to your next visit, and I will be happy to steer you in a direction that best suits your accommodation needs! Thanks so much for your business, and we hope to host you for your next trip to Charlotte. - Charlie, Operations Manager; The Home Collection - Charlotte

Wonderful stay!

  • 5 of 5

The property was exactly as shown. It was very clean and well decorated. The bed was very comfy as well. Some very nice welcome touches as well, such as a bottle of good Italian red, various liquors, spaghetti sauce with noodles, orange juice and muffins. Very thoughtful and much appreciated! The communication was quick and helpful. Also the location is dynamite. Beautiful neighborhood within walking distance of some great restaurants such as Cajun Queen and others. I don't usually write many reviews, but this was definitely one of the best rental experiences I've had. Kudos to Charlie :-)

Our Hawthorne Lane furnished apartments are located in the historic Elizabeth neighborhood, one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city, begun in 1891. Despite the age of the neighborhood, the area has a young and vibrant feeling, with lots of activities for the young and young-at-heart. Independence Park, with tree-lined paths, a rose garden, reflecting pond and tennis courts, is an intimate neighborhood park, built in 1905, just a couple of blocks away. Craftsman bungalows line the neighboring streets, and there are many restaurants within a 1/2 mile walk, along wide sidewalks through tree-canopied streets, including some of the best and most popular establishments in town, including Soul Gastro lounge. An independent video rental shop around the corner offers an enormous selection of movies, and several vegetarian restaurants are nearby as well.
