Location, Location, Location!'

Welcome to our mountain getaway retreat in the city, located in beautiful, safe Cheyenne Canyon, just 5 blocks from the historic Broadmoor Hotel!! This is a unique area within Colorado Springs, because it is in the heart of nature, where you can see wildlife (deer, foxes, and bear) and truly experience Colorado's rugged outdoors. It is nothing like staying in a city. Although we are less than ten minutes from downtown, we are worlds apart.

This light, bright 900 square foot two bedroom getaway borders miles of parks and open spaces. It is the perfect spot from which to explore and experience all the wonders that Colorado Springs has to offer! 'The Canyon' was a small sleepy resort community in years gone by, one of only two canyons in Colorado Springs, The homes were mostly built in the 1920's and 1930's and were bungalows and cottages. As the years passed and people discovered this oasis, more homes were built.

This attached house was built in 1963 and it shares its back wall with another house but there is more privacy because it is not built side by side, but is front to back... It is located on Cheyenne Blvd which dead ends into Cheyenne Canyon park. It has mainly tourist and local traffic, (a bit more during the day on the weekends), so you may hear cars going by, but its pretty quiet at night... The house is located above the 2 garages, which are only used for storage. The front door is located up a flight of outside cement stairs.

Our house has two bedrooms. One has a king sized bed and the other has a queen bed. There is a trundle bed in the living room which pulls out to 2 twin beds if you need them, so we can accomodate 6 people in beds.

There is a new 22 flat screen television in the bedroom with the King bed and there is a 40' Flat Screen HD TV in the Living room. All TVs have full cable TV service. We are also set up for fast wireless internet access so you can sit outside and surf the web.

The decor is contemporary with earth tone walls and oak hardwood floors throughout (no carpeting at all). There is a full eat-in kitchen with an oak table and chairs, linoleum floors, electric stove and a dishwasher. There are air-conditioners in both bedrooms and the living room (which cool the whole place), but summer evenings in Colorado tend to be cooler, so it cools down beautifully at night.

The property is stocked with many extra amenities including spices, paper towels, trash bags, dishwashing detergent, laundry soap and even baggies and aluminum foil. We try to only use natural cleaning products. No chemicals.

There is a small, balcony area off the kitchen looking west over Cheyenne Blvd towards trees & mountains. Directly below the balcony is a dirt driveway leading to a small enclave of properties. The balcony has a gas barbeque, as well as a small patio table and chairs for Al Fresco dining. This is the only outside area, as there is no yard..

The property is a short two block walk farther into the canyon to the Stratton Open Space Preserve where you can walk on miles of trails,enjoy wonderful hiking, biking and exploring. Walking westward towards the mountains along Cheyenne Blvd, is a lovely coffee shop, a nice place to stop for a capuccino or mocha before continuing on into Cheyenne Canyon Park and the Starsmore Discovery center (an educational nature center, great for children of all ages), with miles of hikes along Cheyenne Creek. If you drive into the canyon, the beauty will astound you! Seven Falls and Helen Hunt Falls are located right down the road a bit deeper into Cheyenne Canyon and both are incredibly beautiful For a shot of old world elegance, walk to the five star Broadmoor hotel, an historic resort that is a wonderful place to go for a drink or a meal or just to walk around the gorgeous grounds! (pups welcome on the grounds)

We are less than ten minutes from historic Old Colorado City and fifteen minutes from exciting Manitou Springs with their wonderful restaurants, shopping, supermarkets and galleries. Garden of the Gods park, with its exquisite red rock formations, is a must see and it is less than 10 minutes away with a fantastic visitor's center. Downtown Colorado Springs is just a hop, skip and jump away, as well... The Air Force Academy is about 25 minutes north of us, and Colorado College is about 10 minutes away in the downtown area. The Olympic Training Center is east of us and less than a fifteen minute drive.

Bear Creek Dog Park and Bear Creek Nature Center are less than 10 minutes down the road, and are wonderful places to take the kids! There is also a beautiful zoo less than 10 minutes away. There are many fabulous day trips less than 2 hours from us, including the drive up Pikes Peak, marveling at the Royal Gorge, rafting on the Arkansas river, soaking in hotsprings, exploring Cave of the Winds, and visiting the Cliff-dwelling museum, all great entertainment for kids.

This property has parking for up to two cars in front of the lefthand garage door below and can also accommodate a medium sized RV.

We allow dogs, but if you think your dog will have separation anxiety, let us know and we will try to provide a kennel.

Cancellation Policy: 100% refund if cancellation is 60 days or more before arrival date. Cancelling 30-60 days before arrival date will result in forfeit of deposit. Cancelling within 30 days of arrival date is non-refundable unless we are able to re-book those days.

We are not responsible for cancellations due to acts of nature but will reschedule you for another future visit.

Pardon the corny photo from X-Mas last year at our daughter's house... We have 3 Corgi dogs of our own, all rescued from the Humane Society, and our daughter has a 4th Corgi, also a rescue... We take our 3 pups with us where-ever we can, and they love taking long hikes with us around the Cheyenne Canyon area. We have been married for close to 30 years. We lived in New York City for our first 35+ years, and have lived in Colorado for the past 18 years. We love it here! (You will too!)

We purchased this wonderful property because we live 3 blocks away and wanted to share our love for Cheyenne Canyon with others... It is a country getaway right in the city. We had fallen in love with Cheyenne Canyon park and its miles and miles of hiking and biking trails and when this property came up for sale, we couldn't resist!

What makes this house unique

This canyon is surrounded by open spaces. We have 3 Corgi dogs (all rescue dogs, adopted at the Colorado Springs Humane Society), and we take them hiking up into the surrounding parks and mountains. We love the proximity to all that Colorado Springs, Old Colorado City and Manitou have to offer, yet feel as though we are living in a mountain getaway, miles from civilization!

Good Times

It was a great time, so much fun, and this was the perfect place to make it happen. Spent about a month in the Springs and this location gave me access to everything. Everything was setup when we got there and Mark had everything ready that we wanted when we got there.

The property was clean and the internet was fast. I was supposed to stay for longer (7 months) and initially had scheduled for that long, but Mark was able to work with me to adjust for my lessened schedule. This place was exactly what I needed while I was there.

Great litte house!

We really enjoyed staying at this location while visiting our son who is stationed at Ft. Carson. It's reasonably close to the post and it's very conveniently located to other area attractions as well as shopping. The balcony was really enjoyable to sit and have my morning cup of coffee. We saw a lot of wildlife in the area as well. The house was very clean and nicely stocked with items we needed. I will definitely be using this location for our next visit!

Wonderful location and Great place to stay!

We spent 8 days in this wonderful two bedroom rental. We were close to all the attractions, Cave of the Winds, Garden of the Gods, Cave Dwellers, Manitou Springs, Old Colorado Springs City, plus many more. The house was great with all the comforts of home. Mark had everything you would need just like home. Pots & pans, dishwasher, washer and dryer. The two beds where extremely comfortable and my son loved the trundle bed in the living room.

The home was extremely clean and that was just great. Super Wal-Mart was less than 2 miles away. Wonderful restaurants were close at Old Colorado Springs City & Manitou Springs. This was so much better than staying at a hotel.

Mark was very helpful and alway answered e-mails or phone calls immediately.

We had an awesome stay and will definitely rent this home again!

Great stay in a Great location

We enjoyed the Cheyenne Canyon house so much because it was so centrally located. We wanted to do some hiking and see the sights and didn't realize how great a spot we had until halfway through the week. The bedrooms were nice and we enjoyed making breakfast in the kitchen. With three small kids, the size was perfect, and an overall comfortable place to stay.

What a great place to stay in a great location!

I originally found another property also owned by Mark, he suggested this one as it was closer to our activities which worked out perfect as I am not familiar with the area. My daughter and I had a great home base with all the little extras included. The drive to the ice rink was so convenient and It was also close to many sight seeing activities. It is in a quiet location with a beautiful deck to have breakfast on and to cook out on. Mark was very responsive to my questions and so helpful. The property was well maintained and comfy! If my daughter comes to Colorado to train and compete again next year I will definitely try and stay here again!!
