Overview

About the property

Cabin, 4 Bedrooms + Loft, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 20)

Beautiful and newly renovated mountain lodge for large groups, corporations, family reunions, weddings, church groups, or clubs. We are a 105-acre ranch located on the Continental Divide. Green renovations include the installations of solar panels to allow us to soon be off grid. In addition to the other amenities listed below, we have two lakes on site with paddle boats available. During the winter, ice skating and hockey are possible on the lakes. We also have a regulation pool table and card room with many games available. If you have more than 20 guests, we also have campsites available alongside the Dolly Varden Creek. We are sorry, but no pets are allowed.

About Dale & Crystal Herbertson

My property has been in our family since the late 1890's. It is in an historical gold and silver mining district near Breckenridge. Whether summer or winter vacationing I am sure you will enjoy our mountain home.

Dale & Crystal Herbertson purchased this cabin in 1971

Why Dale & Crystal Herbertson chose South Central

We offer a great mountain cabin with the ability to not only enjoy the outdoors but have nearby amenities to satisfy everyone's interest.

What makes this cabin unique

We enjoy both outdoors and indoor activities. These include fishing from the paddle boats on our pond, pitching horseshoes, hiking/cross country skiing the 105 acres and winter skating on the pond, smores around the campfire, games and poker inside, and watching current sports/movies.

beautiful place so impressed. Loved it.

  • 5 of 5

This was perfect for all 19 of us. We all loved it and had a wonderful time. In fact, so much that we already have it reserved for a weekend in June 2018. Great place for a family getaway. Plus Crystal and Dale were so very nice.

Beautiful Home

  • 5 of 5

The home was beautiful and the family was so nice! It is so spacious from the inside and I love the central fireplace. We enjoyed our stay in their home and had a great time. We used a lot of towels during our stay which I feel bad about but luckily the owners supplied plenty of towels, as well as other amenities, to accommodate us. Thank you!

great experience - lots to do and large enough for whole family

  • 5 of 5

Great place, owner walked us through the house and shared some great stories. Well stocked for cooking and meals. Enough room so 20 people did not feel cramped. Enjoyed the pool table and hot tub. It was easy to get to Breckenridge for shopping, dinning and skiing. No internet (this might not be a bad thing) or Washing machine (sick kid and spending time at laundry mat isn't an ideal holiday activity) but both things we knew about before coming! Whole family wants to come back during the summer!

Fantastic Summer Getaway with Lots of Activities

  • 5 of 5

We had 4 families stay at the Dolly Varden Ski Haus with 8 adults and 10 children. The house was very impressive and was very open, we never felt on top of each other. The kitchen was spacious along with all of the other rooms. Dale and Crystal were easy to work with Dale gave us plenty of great insights on fun things to do including where to hike, fish, ect. The children spent almost any free moment either on the paddle boats or fishing in the pond on the property. I would absolutely go back and stay there again.

More than we expected.

  • 5 of 5

We vacation a lot in colorado and when we arrived at this home and were almost overwhelmed with how nice it was. The floor plan is wonderful for a large group, all the bedrooms upstairs and living area downstairs. You never felt crowded in the spacious living area which is seperated into different areas to have your own space. The owners did a great job in fully stocking the kitchen and bath areas, really all you need is your food! There is a very nice firepit for late night enjoyment. The two ponds on the property were some of the clearest water I have ever seen. And just down the road is a larger lake for more fishing. It is just a 20 minute drive to Breckenridge for a day or 1/2 day trip and the drive is beautiful. We booked this home for our daughers 30th birthday and everyone enjoyed it. I would rent again!

Wonderful family vacation spot!

  • 5 of 5

My extended family (15 total family members, 8 kids and 7 adults) spent 5 nights at the Dolly Varden Ski Haus, and we all had a FANTASTIC time! Our kids, who ranged in age from 5 to 13, had a great time on the paddle boats and fishing in the ponds. We hiked the property, and had tons of activities available within a very short drive.

Dale and Crystal couldn't be nicer or more accomodating, and the house is very well stocked. We had all the cooking utensils we needed, and cooked all meals at the house with the exception of one dinner.

We plan to book another trip here someday - it was very serene, private and peaceful. Well, as peaceful as it can be with 8 kids. :)

Owner's Response: We so enjoyed having the family stay at our home. It is wonderful to see children enjoy the paddle boats as much as our children and grandchildren have. It was great to share our family history with the adults and share how my family built our home. We look forward to hosting this family again and again.
