Our family arrived the day after Christmas to a beautiful snow covered area. The home was fairly clean and appeared to be in satisfactory condition. After unloading our gear and choosing bedrooms for family members we checked the kitchen, as we planned on preparing all our meals in. I noticed a lack of sufficient utensils for cooking as well as pans that were in bad shape. All the utensils for cooking were plastic and the pans were teflon coated with the coating coming off. The salad spinner lacked the outside piece for actual spinning so making salads became my nightmare. I couldn't find a sponge in the entire house nor any dishtowels, so began the overuse of paper towels to cook and clean up. The kitchen lacked a good assortment of spices. The refrigerator was broken, which led to less room for storing food. With it freezing in the garage we utilized the floor for storing food, a nice shelf right out the garage door would have been beneficial. My grandson is a toddler and we found a floor heater cover bent so we were unable to screw it into the floor leaving a hole in the living room floor at a main junction in the home. We found a small carpet and covered the area and then placed a piece of wood over the hole so no one would get hurt. We experienced connectivity issues in this house. Another issue was related to the heating of this home. Two of the four bedrooms got very hot, while the other two bedrooms, family room and living room were freezing. The blankets were summer blankets, which did not help. We were using every blanket we could find in this house. When we pulled the sleeping sofa out we realized the bed pad was about 3" thick, which was not comfortable for an adult. We ended up purchasing an air bed. I would recommend not planning on using this unless it is for some very small children. There is a carpet patch in the back master bedroom closet and when I went to grab my hanging clothes I kept stepping on a carpet nail. Which leads to the hanger situation. The closets are filled with bent up wire hangers which are not sufficient for hanging heavier clothing such as ski jackets, fleeces, etc. A drying rack for ski gear, such as gloves, socks and hats, would have been helpful. The blind covers in this home are old school and present risk to small children as they are hoops, which can lead to children getting caught up in them. This actually did happen to my grandson who loved to look at snow out the windows.
We had a wonderful time at this home. There was enough room for our littles to play. They loved the huge hot tub. The large master bedroom's bed was awesome! My husband wants a new bed now. The neighbors were very helpful as well as the owner when we had trouble figuring out where to park. The entire family loved Sunriver. We used the SHARC passes, we went to the lava caves, we Frisbee golfed. The littles played in all the jumpy castles at the Village. We shopped, had a spa day, had a brew tasting day. We even held Olympic games at Fort Rock park with relatives staying in other houses. I would recommend this house without reservation. The owners were very easy to work with!
perfect house for a big group! We loved the extra large hot tub too! Will be back.
Our family had a wonderful time in Sunriver. Our family gets together each summer in a generally central location. We've met in Tahoe, Shasta, the Redwoods, Santa Cruz, the Wallowas, to name a few. We all agreed this year's gathering was the most enjoyable. Just so much variety for everyone - golfing, fishing, hiking, biking, kayaking, swimming, sightseeing, even shopping (in nearby Bend). We really appreciated the bicycles, SHARC passes and large hot tub and deck. The two master bedrooms were an extra bonus. When we arrived, the check-in was fast and simple, the house was spotless and everything was where it was supposed to be per the agreement. The towels in the bathrooms were folded as if for a hotel, which was a really nice touch. Two in our party were senior citizens, so we intentionally chose a single level home with as few stairs as possible. The wildlife was a great treat. The deer just pass right by you as if you're one of them. Each evening a covey of quail would run through the back yard as we sat on the deck.
The homeowner was very easy to work with and responded to inquiries right away. We do plan to return to Sunriver and, hopefully, to this house.
Wonderful vacation home for one or two families with children or couples retreat!! The large Master bedroom and bath are lovely for a single couple as we are. The four bedrooms are large and very tastefully decorated. The home was immaculate. There is plenty of room for eating for a large group. The hot tub was especially great on the starry nights.
We enjoyed nearby activities - Sharc center, rafting down the river, Museum, Planetarium, Village shops, available bikes for the many trails in the commnunity. We highly recommend it!!
