Great cabin even when the weather doesn't cooperate!
As lifetime visitors to Blue Mountain Lake, my siblings and I were prepared for less-than-desirable weather! The sunshine that greeted us and allowed us to toast our return on the lovely lawn, quickly turned cooler and rainier. However, enjoying coffee from rocking chairs in front of the bay window, or from an Adirondack chair on the covered porch, still made this a great place to be! It is up-to-date, has tons of storage, good books to curl up with and read, and a very well-equipped kitchen. Yes, we had to lug along plenty of food because there are no nearby groceries, and yes, we brought most of our own linens just to ease the clean-up before a 7-hour drive home, but we would definitely stay here again.
A place to truly relax
This is a great place to truly relax and disconnect from day to day life. The house is well maintained and truly represents the Adirondack style architecture with beautiful post & beam construction in the living room and an incredible view of Blue Mountain Lake from large picture windows located in the living room and master bed room. While it has all the modern conveniences like DirecTV, washer & dryer, dish washer, and microwave, it still provides a quiet secluded location to just read a book or to listen call of the Loons while relaxing in Adirondack chairs overlooking the lake. Speaking of calls, AT&T & Verizon both have coverage for those that need to reconnect.
As Blue Mountain Lake is centrally located in the Adirondack Park, there is a wide variety of things to do. The Adirondack Museum, now known as the Adirondack Experience, is 5 minutes away. Other attractions such as the Wild Center in Tupper Lake, Lake Placid, and Old Forge are within an hour and well worth the trip. This is our second time staying here and we truly love this place. A big thank you goes out to Bill for the privilege. - Gregg & Beth
Lakeside property with a beautiful view of the lake and the surrounding mountains,
The only issue we had was when we initially arrived. According to the email we received we were to pick up the key and get directions to the property at Blue Mountain Outfitters. There was a note that if we did not arrive by 6;00PM, we could call a KIM to get the key. We started calling prior to 6;00 PM knowing that we going to be later than 6:00. All we got was a voice mail several times to leave a message. We pulled up to BMO @ 6:05 PM and it was closed . We then attempted to call again and got voice mail. My son started to look for anybody around the building, and there was nobody. Fortunately he went to the next property, and found a very nice women whom gave a directions to the owner's home of BMO up the mountain. We were not able to find their home, and came back down to the women who graciously had offered to get them. The man who came appeared to not know that we were coming, also told us that the phone number was wrong. Side note: man was not the friendly sort!! He did lead us to the property and said that it was open and there was a light on. This was now 7:00PM and dark. Needless to say this was not the way we wanted to start our weekend getaway,
We found the cottage very nice and well equipped. Found the weekend enjoyable after our initial arrival.
Beautifully located and superbly equipped.
When you have a beautiful location like Blue Mt. Lake, how can you go wrong? This home is well appointed with every conceivable amenity. We were very comfortable and able to relax.
perfect for a family getaway
We rented this cottage for a long weekend in late September. The cottage has everything you could possibly need. We brought food, clothing, and our kayaks. We had the lake mostly to ourselves and spent hours paddling around looking at nature and exploring the tiny islands. We only explored half of the lake and look forward to a return trip to see the rest. The beds were very comfortable and we enjoyed the homey feel of the cottage. Thank you!
Perfect Blue Mountain Lake Escape
The house was absolutely charming and comfortable, offering wonderful views of the lake from the living room and the master bedroom. The dock situated on the small private beach area is the perfect place to dock kayaks and a small motor boat but is also easy enough to get a pontoon boat in there. The house itself is spacious enough for 4 with comfortable bedding in each room and ample seating in the living room. The large dining table offers a great place for jigsaw puzzles. The kitchen is well-stocked for preparing meals but the grocery stores are far away so if you plan on cooking, be prepared to make a list and drive 30-something miles for your groceries.
Outdoors, a nice grassy area and adirondack chairs overlooking the lake make for a perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee or take in the evening sunsets. And the fire pit is a great place to relax and roast marshmallows after a day of exploring, boating and fishing.
Blue Mountain Lake does have any restaurants outside of the larger camps. Indian Lake, Long Lake and Raquette Lake (each 11 miles in distance) are where you will find different dining options. Reservations can be made at the neighboring camp, The Hedges, for a wonderful breakfast or dinner and the Indian Lake Restaurant and Tavern is a great place in the area for casual dining.
Located in the central Adirondacks, minutes from the Adirondack Museum. Close to Indian Lake, Long Lake, and Raquette Lake. Dinner cruising, whitewater rafting, and horseback riding all close by.
