About the property

3 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom - Sleeps 12

Only 75 minutes from Seattle, unwinding in a new hot tub on a huge private deck, you’ll take in the sweeping views from Peoh Point to the Cascades to the Stuart Mountains. And with backyard access to the Iron Horse Trail and the Yakima River to snowshoe, fish, bike, hike, float, jog and explore, it’s all right here all year.

This is River 'n Trails Cabin, the perfect getaway to enjoy the spectacular great outdoors year ‘round, or to just get away from it all.

Sleeps 12 guests comfortably in an easy, flowing home on 3-acres. River 'n Trails Cabin is approximately 2,000 square feet with lots of natural light featuring 1 King, 1 Queen, 4 bunks and 2 Queen sofa sleepers. There is a large, well equipped kitchen with a breakfast nook and a dining room table for 6 in the great room. You’ll have space to breathe yet you’re just a couple of miles to downtown Cle Elum and Roslyn, a couple of the most historic and charming towns in all of Washington State.

The Iron Horse Trail is perfect for snowshoeing, leisurely walks, jogging or bike rides, and direct access to Yakima River—the premier trout fishing river in Washington—for fly fishing or floating just 40 yards from our property. There is bank access to a lot of wade-able fishing adjacent to our property.

The river in front of our property is braided with access to smaller water in addition to the main channel of the river. Or bring a bike and ride down the trail for miles of river access. In addition, there are local guide services for a day of some of the best trout fishing in the state.

The ping pong table, horseshoe pit, 3 adult bikes and a children's bike help make fun easy! Golf is nearby at Sun Country or Suncadia. In the winter, you can snowmobile in and out to trails or snowshoe for miles from the backyard on the Iron Horse Trail.

Take advantage of the events in Ellensburg just 30 minutes away. It’s only 45 minutes to Leavenworth or just 35 minutes to Snoqualmie.

Or never leave the property, enjoy the hot tub, stove fireplace and stunning views.

Either way, River ‘n Trails will be a magic destination that you’ll want to return to again and again.

So bring your gear, enjoy the outdoors and spend the evening relaxing in the hot tub or by the fireplace. The view of the stars at night are truly amazing.

About Jim Hewitt

We moved from Hawaii so our daughters could attend the Bellevue School District and are so happy we made the move. People think we are crazy to leave Hawaii and thankfully, we love it here!

Jim Hewitt purchased this house in 2013

Why Jim Hewitt chose North Central Cascades

We purchased River n' Trails Cabin for its location, acreage and views and knew we would enjoy spending time in our home with our family and friends for a long time. Cle Elum and its surrounding area has such an expansive variety of things to do all year round and we want to make it a part of our lives.

What makes this house unique

The centralized location is a big benefit where you can enjoy peace and quiet, yet be just 10 minutes from the conveniences we enjoy in the town of Cle Elum. The view from the great room is stunning with a 180 degree view of the countryside and mountain ranges. The large deck is a luxury where guests can dine on the patio, relax in chaise loungers and relax together in the hot tub. There is an endless amount of activities due to the backyard access to the Iron Horse Trail and Yakima River. During the winter, snowmobile or snowshoe in and out from the cabin too!

Lovely home in Cle Elum

  • 5 of 5

Our second time staying here was just as lovely as the first. Roomy house, delightful owners and quiet atmosphere made for another great stay. We were here during a very hot time and there is no air conditioning - we were able to manage fine with the numerous fans in the house, but it is something to know if you are super sensitive. The heat was unusual this year, so I don't consider it an actual issue. We enjoyed our time in the hot tub and relaxing on the super comfy couch. Already planning on stay here again next year!!

This place is perfect in winter!

  • 5 of 5

This house is perfect for families. We brought our two kids, 4 and 11, and everyone loved it. The views are unbelievably gorgeous, there are game tables, enough room for everyone, and the house is stocked up properly. We played in the snow covered backyard, the hot tub felt great in the 10 degree weather, and the fireplace kept us warm. I can't complain about a single thing! We don't want to leave and we would definitely come back again.

Wonderful Cabin AND Alpacas

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved the Cabin in Cle Elum! It was perfect for enjoying the views and having a comfy place to stay. The wonderful bonus are the neighbor's two friendly alpacas. The road into the cabin is quiet for riding and running, there are trails right outside the door, and it is close to town. Also, there is a grill and great appliances to make meals. We really enjoyed our stay! Thank you!

Nice place. Needs some maintenance.

  • 4 of 5

Our overall experience was good. The house was comfortable and roomy, though a bit warm on hot days...no central air. It was clean and fresh and the welcoming bottle of wine was a nice touch! Things we found that should be remedied include: 1) repairs to the deck railing that appears to be falling off, are badly needed before someone gets hurt. 2) As viewed online the house does have 4 queen sized beds (2 of which are foldout couches), but from viewing the pictures, you cannot tell that one of the foldouts is in the large master suite against the opposite wall as the master bed...so unless you are parents with kids who can sleep in your room...that foldout doesn't work for mostly adult groups. 3) The living room foldout is an air bed. There is a pump in the TV entertainment center cabinet, but the outlets to plug it into do NOT reach the bed and we could not find an extension cord to save ourselves, so that bed was useless. All in all, we had a fine time and quickly got over our disappointment caused by these inconveniences. A word of caution to future renters...if you or your kids go down to the river, there is a mosquito-infested swamp on the way. Do not go through there without adequate protection. Our 13-yr old grandson got bit and swelled up like a balloon...badass mosquitoes!

Owner's Response: Hi Thanks for staying with us. We are glad you had a good time. I appreciate your concern over the deck railing and I am on my way out there this weekend to repair it. I am sorry to hear about your frustrations with the bed pump. There used to be an extension cord there but it seems to have gone missing. I wish you had called me about this as I could have told you where to find another one. My phone number and email are provided for all guests. Thanks again Jim Hewitt

Nice place to have family gathering!

  • 4 of 5

Nice big house. Great view of mountain side and grassy pasture. Huge well stocked kitchen. Was perfect for our family gathering. Lots of extra perks for the small children in the group. Lots of parking, and neighbors are not sitting on top of you. Owner was very nice and easy to work with.

Far enough from town, yet if you needed something it was only 10 minutes away.

Only negatives were no air conditioning, and only 2 small fans in house. We melted! The other negative was the deck and railing needs some tender loving care. Two in the group got huge slivers in their feet.

Besides those things our stay was great, and we would stay there again....I'd just bring my own fans...lol.

Owner's Response: Hi. Thanks again for staying with us. We're glad you had an enjoyable stay. I have to apologize for the lack of fans. We had four at one time but it seems their numbers have diminished....... I have ordered more. Also, I'm sorry to hear about the splinters. I had recently sanded the deck down but it sounds like that wasn't enough. I am going out there this weekend to seal the deck and also to replace the rails. Thanks again for staying with us. Jim and Cindy
