About Irene

Your host, Irene, is an American who relocated to Panama five years ago. I stumbled upon Playa Corona while looking for a slower, more carefree, simpler way of life. Casa Pintada was hidden away in the quiet beach community of Playa Corona.

Having an extensive hotel and resort background, I know how wonderful it is to have a comfortable place to rest and recharge after a long day of adventure.

I truly enjoy providing first class service to our guests and assisting travelers to explore this diverse region of Panama.

Irene purchased this cottage in 2006

Great Place

  • 5 of 5

Great Place to set up a base camp to explore the area, including El Valle. Many great restaurants and grocery stores a short drive away. A car is a necessity if you want to venture about. Playa Corona is a short drive to a very quiet, pleasant beach during the week, and even with weekend crowds still enjoyable. WiFi is a bit spotty but certainly fast enough to stay connected...Netflix and the like. Owner keeps this place very clean, and well supplied. The grounds are well kept and very diverse in plant life. Irene is a wonderful host, with an outstanding personality. I would be remiss not to mention the welcomed greetings from Maggie(the dog) at every arrival at the front gate. A throughly enjoyable experience!

Very nice place but...

  • 3 of 5

The accommodation was great! Very nice and clean, all you need, quiet. But not much to do in the area. It was pretty dead. There is a beach but I didn't find it nice. Lots of black stuff. So we ended up spending our days in El Valle, up the mountains. The wifi was so-so. I had to come down to the owner's property when I needed a better connection for skyping. The owners were very nice.

Nice Accommodations!

  • 4 of 5

George & Irene were very nice hosts. The unit had everything we needed for cooking & relaxing after a long travel day to Panama. The tap water was OK to drink & the shower pressure was great. There is a small grocery store 10 minute walk away. A small clean river with an area to take a refreshing dip is only a 10 minute walk along a trail. There are many restaurants about 15 minute drive. The free WIFI was very strong. Their dog, Maggie, was a frequent visitor. There was a family with a small child in the adjoining unit making some noise until the child settled down at night.

a sweet casita

  • 5 of 5

The casita is cozy and comfortable. Everything works perfectly. Plenty of hot water for showers, excellent air conditioning for warm nights and a short ride to the beach where the swimming is ideal.

We stayed one week and then came back for a one day while we returned our car rental. George and Irene are top-notch hosts, rooms are very clean, nice kitchenette and nice bathroom/shower. Enjoyed the cooling breezes in a nice yard that has just the right amount of trees for shade. Their dog, Maggie, and cat, Mia, are real nice pets, they come for a little visit but then leave you to enjoy your stay. We had nice visits with our hosts, upon our invitation, but they would provide your privacy if that is what you need. There is a nice beach about 5 minute drive away or 1/2 hour walk, and a nice little river with pools about 10 minute walk. We will definitely stay again given the chance.
