Charming enough for two, spacious enough for fourteen
Our 4-story mountain retreat is charming enough for two and spacious enough for twelve.
Imagine waking up on top of the world with the red orb of the sun rising over the expanse of plains that spread out before you. The mountains shine golden in the west, and the huge windows on every side bathe you in light. You slip on to the porch and into the hot tub to ease into the day. The golden experience continues in the sun-drenched kitchen. Out on the lawn there are wild deer grazing. They raise their heads to look at you as you walk by but do not run away. Nature has a certain harmony here.
Strategically located in a natural setting close to town, it is your call if you travel ten minutes into all that Boulder has to offer, deeper into the wilderness to explore the Rocky Mountains, or just stay home and read, watch a movie or play pool with family and friends.

We came to Boulder after searching far and wide for the right place for us. After our third and fourth children were born we moved just up the road but we maintain a close relationship to the property through our sheep and alpacas who still live there.

Why Ali chose Sunshine Canyon
We love this house for its location. At once we feel peaceful and in nature, but if we forget something at the store we are close enough to run back to it. All the benefits that go with being in a university town have kept us here.
What makes this House unique
The house won us because it is really solid. All the wood and light really set it apart from all the others we looked at and the south-facing exposure with all the views made us feel on top of the world.

The pictures don't do the property justice. From the moment we checked in, we knew this was the perfect location for a family gathering.
The property provides the perfect blend of mountain views and luxurious housing. Comfortably fitting our entire party this home has tons of natural light, ample space, activities for kids, and some private nooks for relaxing. And when some civilization is needed the home is just a short drive to downtown Boulder. Offering the best of both worlds.
Jennifer was very accommodating and the property could not be more ideal.
Fantastic, would stay again!
Beautiful home with everything we needed!
The house was perfect for our large group! We loved the hot tubs and the large communal areas to hang out!
Everything We Could Have Asked For
Spent a beautiful Thanksgiving Weekend with Family. Everyone was easily accommodated with plenty of space, beautiful views, and the most amazing hiking experiences within minutes of the house. The home was perfectly laid out for complete enjoyment and relaxation and allowed for all of us to gather easily together in the sprawling kitchen, dining room, and living room areas. The kitchen offered every convenience you could think of and the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, and their layout, made it easy to seek privacy when needed! The hot tubs were meticulously maintained and an added bonus after marvelous, long hikes each day! Absolutely our most enjoyed family vacation, ever!
Lovely house and beautiful surroundings!
Our extended family stayed for a family wedding and we had a blast- stayed in and made big family dinners and breakfasts! We walked and hiked everyday and either watched the sunrise from the top deck hot tub or soaked at night and watched the stars and night sky line! Great house and wildlife visitors everyday- we loved it!
So Much Space!
This house was a great location for a bunch of us to stay at when traveling from out of town for a wedding in Boulder. There are so many beds and bedding, we had no trouble fitting 10 people in the house! There are not a lot of bedrooms with doors though, so if privacy is a must, this is not the best location. The outside hot tub was really relaxing in the evenings even though quite a few jets were broken. The weather was great for us (about 80-85F) but the house gets very hot inside. There is no AC. The hottest areas were definitely the 3rd floor (king size bed and futon) and the kitchen (even with blinds closed and windows open!). I wish there were more fans in the rooms. The ceiling fans didn't work in some rooms and in other rooms the ceilings were so high that you could barely feel the breeze from the fans. There was only one roll of toilet paper per bathroom so make sure you grab some at the store on the way up to the house! Also, with windows open to cool the house, so many bugs came inside. We killed probably 50 flies over the weekend.
In general, the place was fantastic. The views were incredible and there were so many hikes within walking distance. There was a fox on the property all weekend, so make sure you don't leave any food/drink outside to further tempt the wildlife.
The recycle and trash were not clearly marked. I kept the two separated but worry that it will all be thrown into the garbage.
The weather is one of the greatest things about being in the front range, so don't forget your walking shoes! You will be right across the street from Bald Mountain Scenic area and just a short walk from its spectacular views at the top! Just seven minutes down the road are more fabulous trails. Historic Pearl street is just at the foot of the hill, a fun and colorful 'walking mall' where street performers abound. For a more serene mountain experience try Brainard Lake where Elk and Moose live and snow can be seen in the middle of the summer. Great for all levels of hiking, it is also a hot spot for fly fishing. You can access Rocky Mountain National Park by taking the award-winning Peak-to-Peak highway only thirty minutes up the road. It also takes you over to the mountain town of Nederland and the slopes and cross-country trails of Eldora Ski Resort. Back in town don't miss the Colorado Shakespeare Festival which runs in the summer, or concerts at Chautauqua. It is said that there are more restaurants in Boulder per capita than in New York City. True or not there are certainly an incredible amount of good restaurants! Just at the bottom of the hill, the Boulder Recreation Center offers fitness and swimming, tennis and drop-in classes. The Butterfly Pavilion in Broomfield and the Denver Aquarium offer great indoor activities in the unusual event of a cloudy day. Whether your interests are recreational, culinary, cultural, or outdoors, you will have it all nearby your comfortable vacation home.
