Our 4-story mountain retreat is charming enough for two and spacious enough for twelve
Imagine waking up on top of the world with the red orb of the sun rising over the expanse of plains that spread out before you. The mountains shine golden in the west, and the huge windows on every side bathe you in light. You slip on to the porch and into the hot tub to ease into the day. The golden experience continues in the sun-drenched kitchen. Out on the lawn there are wild deer grazing. They raise their heads to look at you as you walk by but do not run away. Nature has a certain harmony here.
Strategically located in a natural setting close to town it is your call if you travel ten minutes into all that Boulder has to offer, deeper into the wilderness to explore the Rocky Mountains, or just stay home and read, watch a movie or play pool with family and friends.

We came to Boulder after searching far and wide for the right place for us. After our third and fourth children were born we moved just up the road but we maintain a close relationship to the property through our sheep and alpacas who still live there.
Jennifer purchased this house in 2003
We love this house for its location. At once we feel peaceful and in nature, but if we forget something at the store we are close enough to run back to it. All the benefits that go with being in a university town have kept us here.
The house won us because it is really solid. All the wood and light really set it apart from all the others we looked at and the south-facing exposure with all the views made us feel on top of the world.
Tons of space, lots of extra towels/linens, cool layout. We were a little disappointed to find that the big wall of windows can only be seen if you're in the hot tub room. The dragon room is really cool and the views from the balcony are fantastic! The drive to the house is super windy, steep and hard to navigate at night. I'm sure the only way to get to a house this secluded is to take this type of road but thought it was worth mentioning. Being from Texas where all the roads are straight and flat, we got a little nervous and car sick :-) Owners were unable to meet us but we figured most things out using the very informative binder they left. Overall, it was a great experience.
Absolutely stunning location and a cool, quirky mountain house to match it. We stayed here with our wedding party and it was perfect. The hosts were extremely accommodating from letting us check in a little early and giving us a full walk through the house to being very responsive throughout the entire stay. One morning the water heater wasn't working and they arrived to take a look within 15 minutes and had it fixed later that day while we were out. The drive up the road was a bit further from Boulder than we expected but its completely worth it for the setting you get to stay in.
Fantastic location, you are in the mountains but close to downtown Boulder. Access to great hiking! Beautiful views! Fun Hot tub on the top deck. Cozy home, great for a larger group!
The home is very spacious and located in an absolutely beautiful area just 5 miles outside of Boulder, Co. It was a good fit for my large group, however, there are quite a few areas of the house that could use some maintenance.
For starters, there were 3 refrigerators, 2 regular size and one mini. The two larger fridges did not work, so we needed to play a bit of tetris and stuff food for 10 into the mini fridge. On top of that, most of the light bulbs were out, the oven did not function, the DVD player did not work, and the blender had a large crack in it (not a huge deal but we did lose a batch of daiquiris!). There are two really nice hot-tubs, however the outdoor tub had some issues and it took us about a day to look up the manual online and fiddle with the switches in the house to get it to heat up.
A couple of other notes worth mentioning- there are lots of stairs so be prepared for a workout! A great warm-up to some of the surrounding hikes. There are 3 or 4 decks which provide plenty of options for lounging outside. We found ourselves moving from one to the other as the sun moved throughout the day. One deck has a couple of hammock seats that I found myself using quite often.
Overall, Jennifer was very polite and a easy host to deal with. I would recommend staying here if you have a big group, are looking to spend a lot of time outdoors, and aren't too concerned with luxury accommodations.
This was a great place to stay for a long weekend. The cabin is huge with spectacular views and access to the surrounding mountains. The jacuzzi on the top deck is a great touch. We had 13 people and there was more than enough room. I would highly recommend staying here and if I end up back in Boulder for a vacation I will definitely try to book this place again. Jennifer, the owner, is very responsive if you need anything or run out of anything at the cabin.
We gathered for a family memorial and it was great to have 3 families staying together under one roof. We were just up the canyon from the rest of the family. The accommodations were great for all age 6-69. Several family members enjoyed the hot tub on the top deck with its spectacular view of the cities out on the plains. The children enjoyed the living room and watching videos. The home was clea, well maintained and had some kitchen basics. I just wish we had more time to learn about the sheep and alpacas. The owner met with us and explain the layout of the house. Boulder has so much available and endless places to dine and well as places to hike. Thank you for a great place to stay.
The weather is one of the greatest things about being in the front range, so don't forget your walking shoes! You will be right across the street from Bald Mountain Scenic area and just a short walk from its spectacular views at the top! Just seven minutes down the road are more fabulous trails.
The house is bordered by a sheep and alpaca farm so don't be surprised to see these curious animals welcoming you from over the fence.
Historic Pearl street is just at the foot of the hill, a fun and colorful 'walking mall' where street performers abound.
For a more serene mountain experience try Lake Brainard where Elk and Moose live and snow can be seen in the middle of the summer. Great for all levels of hiking, it is also a hot spot for fly fishing.
You can access Rocky Mountain National Park by taking the award-winning Peak-to-Peak highway only thirty minutes up the road. It also takes you over to the mountain town of Nederland and the slopes and cross-country trails of Eldora Ski Resort.
Back in town don't miss the Colorado Shakespeare Festival which runs in the summer, or concerts at Chautautaqua.
It is said that there are more restaurants in Boulder per capita than in New York City. True or not there are certainly an incredible amount good restaurants!
Just at the bottom of the hill, the Boulder Recreation Center offers fitness and swimming, tennis and drop-in classes.
The Butterfly Pavilion in Broomfield and the Denver Aquarium offer great indoor activities in the unusual event of a cloudy day.
Whether your interests are recreational, culinary, cultural, or outdoors, you will have it all nearby your comfortable vacation home.
