Hi, my name is Carla!
I was born here, in this Villa, that my family owns since many generations.
I love this place and its marvelous view on the hills. I live on the second floor of the Villa with my family. There is a second independent entrance, so your privacy will be guaranteed. It will be my pleasure to help you during your stay for any requirement.
The location allows to enjoy the typical tuscan countryside with its olive groves, vineyards and rolling hills and at the same time to reach Florence in few minutes by car or by bus. Many hills towns nearby as well as important cities as Siena and Pisa.
We delighted in the beauty and spaciousness of this wonderful villa after spending a few days in Rome. Having different inside and outside spaces was fabulous. This allowed for our two families to spread out and relax. Carla was an excellent host, gave comprehensive responses to our queries and ensured that everything we needed was provided. The kitchen was well equipped and we enjoyed cooking and eating outside. We loved the little village of Romola. The villa is well placed to travel easily to Florence, San Casciano, Siena and San Gimignano. There are great restaurants and shops in San Casciano which is about 20 mins drive. We would love to be able to return
Owners Carla and Andrea were great always available to answer questions and address any issues. The villa is well stocked and extremely clean and spacious. The pool and gym were a great addition that our kids and us indulged in every day. The distance from Florence makes it so easy to do day trips we even jumped on a high speed train to Venice for the day. We were able to visit a wonderful winery on the owners suggestions and attend a cooking a
class in Certaldo. I would definitely recommend this villa for location, comfort and cleanliness, great owners and a relaxing atmosphere !
Driving through the hills of Chianti to villa Rogai was somewhat of a dream. Sun beamed down from heaven over the country side filled with vineyards and sunflowers. Tall cypress trees line the roads, the scent of lavender and jasmine was in the air. Upon our arrival, we met the owners who were waiting outside for us with warm smiles; the kind and welcoming Andrea and Carla. We entered their villa, with such amazement. It is more than we imagined. A beautiful villa, a treasure full of antiques and family history. All the rooms very well appointed, beautiful and spacious. Our 3 children ages 4-7 were wonder struck, as they explored the small treasure troves in each room. They were equally amazed to have their own library with books from floor to ceiling to explore! They would sit for hours writing and drawing at the desk in front of the Juliet balcony doors with views of the hills. Outside, the grounds are divided into two living areas- one a beautiful yard and garden with a shaded dinning area and a BBQ easily accessible from the kitchen. The other, a private and very comfortable cushioned sitting area shaded by fragrant jasmine vines...two sun loungers and a pool over looking the hills and olive groves. Many afternoons, dinners and evenings were spent outside. Day trips into Florence, Siena and other fantastic places were easy- as all are very close and quickly accessible by car. Groceries, cafes, restaurants all very close by as well. The pictures online are only a small glimpse and modest account of what the property has to offer. In practical terms, this property is very well appointed and located and has all you need for a true enjoyable Tuscan experience. It felt like we were placed on the set of a movie and the picture reel just kept spinning. It left a life long story in our hearts. Thank you Carla and family for opening the doors to your beautiful property and entrusting travelers from all over the world with your very special vacation home.
Ruth Saporito & Family
Our family of five from Westchester County, NY (children ages 15, 12, 12) loved this spacious, beautifully appointed home. The website pictures don't even include the gym, expresso maker, outdoor grill and laundry. As mentioned in the other reviews, the views and outdoor seating areas are gorgeous. If you have younger children, there is a nice park with a playground right down the street. Carla and Andrea were lovely and recommended a wonderful bike store and tour in nearby Greve which was a trip highlight. The Villa is 20 minutes to Florence by car or a 20 minute drive to a railway station which takes you to the Florence train station. We felt like we had a true Italian country vacation experience living in this beautiful home, having dinner at the local pizza restaurant, Bella Ciao, and breakfast croissants and cappuccino at the local favorite cafe.
Carla and Andrea have a spectacular place located conveniently close to Florence. It is also very convenient to drive to the hill towns – San Gimigniano, Lucca, etc. It is a beautiful, inviting and comfortable home. Everything works beautifully, and the patios are a delightful place to spend the evenings. They provided welcome pasta and a bottle of wine at the beginning, and countless hours of delightful and animated conversation during the week. We have new friends and experiences, all thanks to them. We wouldn't hesitate to go back, and hope to do so again.
Our family of eight - two grandparents, three daughters and three grandsons, 13, 13 and 11 - had a wonderful stay at Villa Rogai. The home, which has been in the same family for at least three generations, is gracious and beautiful. The views of the Tuscan hills from the pool and patio area are breathtaking. Carla and Andrea are perfect hosts and we were able to share some quality time with them. Our grandsons enjoyed the visit immensely and it was all we could do to get them to leave the pool and join us on visits to Florence. That city is easily accessible by car to bus or tram and Carla and Andrea will point the way. Other cities in Tuscany, including Siena and Arezzo, are within an hour's drive on relatively uncongested roads. There is a small market in Romola within an easy walk from the villa and several huge supermarkets can be easily reached by car. The villa has a state of the art gas barbecue and covered outdoor dining area of which we made good use. All in all, the property and the hosts are a delight and we highly recommend it.
Upon request, wine and oil tastings, chef @ home.
