Beautiful setting, comfortable house

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time we stayed at this house and this time it was for Ithaca College graduation. It was the perfect place for our family. The setting right on the lake is perfect - you can just sit and watch the ducks, geese, boats and be perfectly content. And you are a short drive to downtown Ithaca and in the opposite direction to nice hikes and wineries.

The house is well stocked. As a frequent VRBO renter I know how important that is - to be able to easily cook and serve food and to have enough blankets, towels, etc. The owners are very easy to deal with.

Unfortunately our need to be in Ithaca regularly has ended, but were we to come back, would love to be here.

A very nice cottage right on Cayuga Lake.

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is in a perfect location to see the sights around Cayuga and Seneca Lakes. Or, you can just relax and look at the lake and the birds that come by. It has everything you need for a comfortable stay. (The Breville Toaster is awesome.) Kathy was so helpful to us anytime we needed something. Her recommendations of the Red Feet Wine Market and Wegman's (for groceries) was spot on. We easily drove to the Cornell Plantations and Lab of Ornithology. Went up to the Montezuma Wildlife Refuge and a cruised on the Schooner 'True Love'. We didn't allow enough time at the Corning Glass Museum, but we were able to see a special exhibit, a glass-blowing demo and make our own small glass animal - we both highly recommend this for adults (so fun). We had such a good time we hope to come back.

Stunning view, perfect for families

  • 5 of 5

Staying in this bungalow above Cayuga Lake was such a treat. It was the perfect setting for our family of four. The little ones loved throwing rocks from the pier and we loved watching the sunset with its golden pink hues reflecting off the water. A bonus was that it was close to the Ithaca Children's Garden as well as the Hangar Theatre. Everyone had a great time and Kathy was the perfect host. Highly recommended!

Tranquil setting with everything you need

  • 5 of 5

The best part of this house is its setting - great views of the lake and a variety of outside options to enjoy it. Inside, the house is simply furnished but very well equipped. We have rented many vacation homes and this house would be at the top of the list in terms of supplies - cooking equipment, basic cooking supplies - they do not skimp.

And perhaps the two most important things about any house rental - a very comfortable bed and a good supply of hot water in the shower!

We were here to visit our son at Ithaca College and it is an easy drive to Ithaca and all it has to offer.

Elliot and Marianne Carlin

  • 5 of 5

This was just what we were looking for - a lovely, quiet, comfortable, well-equipt cottage right on the lake, with easy access to Ithaca, Cornell and Taughannock Falls State Park. We enjoyed watching the lake and the birds and squirrels from the living room, the patio and the lawn. Everything was clean and the owners were gracious and friendly. We hope to visit again soon.

A Romantic Lake House

  • 5 of 5

While looking for a place for my boyfriend from Australia to stay nearby for the month of April, I found this on VRBO at a price that challenged all the local hotels. Even at out-of-season rates, this house provided everything that was needed on an exceptional level. Very much a home away from home!! The house is far from the main road, in a mostly private setting, so it was very quiet, except to hear birds singing, and the water splashing on the shore. The weather was still too cold for most outdoor activities, but truly enjoyed the absolutely stunning views of Cayuga Lake through the large window in the living room, while being able to cozy up to the warm fire place. Excellent for bird watching and seeing other wildlife too, like deer, squirrels, chipmunks, and a possum. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, nicely decorated, and very clean. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and utensils, and completely functioning appliances. After food shopping at Walmart and Wegman's grocery, we cooked some meals there to save on dining costs, and enjoyed eating them at the table by the window overlooking the lake. The house was also stocked with other essentials such as toiletries, extra sheets, and big soft towels. Everything was easy to find too. The washer and dryer in the laundry room were very efficient and really helpful for washing clothes during such a long stay. The flat screen TV didn't have cable or satellite access, but still enjoyed watching DVDs bought at Walmart. There wasn't a land-line phone, but my tracfone had a good signal, and there was super fast WiFi internet available. Also had plenty of outlets for laptops, phone chargers and such. Meeting up with the owners a couple times, they are extremely friendly, very knowledgeable about the area, and always available for questions.

Even in the colder months there was still so much to enjoy, exploring all that Ithaca has to offer in shops, food, and parks. We enjoyed places such as visiting the Museum of the Earth, dining at the Boat Yard Grill, and at the end of April when it was warmer, walking the many trails along Ithaca's gorges to see the beautiful water falls. Made many happy memories visiting this beautiful lake house, and would love to return one day, for it truly worked it's magic on us, as my boyfriend is now my fiancé! Thank you for such wonderful accommodations!!
