About Vacasa, WA - San Juans / Puget Sound Office

Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.

Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.

Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!

Somewhat Disappointed

  • 3 of 5

This house is not taken care of very well. It is located in a beautiful area but leaves much to be desired. There is good space but it isn't utilized well and it is pretty outdated. There is not much lighting in the house with only one small desk lamp for light in one of the bedrooms. If you travel with more than just 4 people you might want to bring your own towels. We were a group of 6 with 4 towels. Many of the chairs in the dining room were about to break, one did. We felt somewhat mislead by the description of the house. Although it isn't far from the water, it is about a 10 minute walk. There is outdoor space but it is very run down with nowhere to sit. This house is advertised to have ocean views but unless you can see through the trees there are not. We had a wonderful trip to the islands, spending most of our time exploring away from the house.

Nice but a little neglected

Nice somewhat rustic. A relaxing and QUIET place to stay. Functional for 6 adults with plenty of room.

Relaxing house on great island!

  • 5 of 5

Great space in the woods with harbor view. We enjoyed having all we needed for relaxing and eating our fresh crabs and salmon. Friendly island for biking and nice hikes! Great neighborhood grocery as well as one in village, Thanks for having a grill and crab cracking tools!

MacKaye Harbor Tree House

  • 1 of 5

We would definitely NOT stay here again. The house is dark overall- there is no path to the water, as described, and there is no firepit. No outside seating area to enjoy. The property is very overgrown with weeds everywhere - not enjoyable. The dining/kitchen area was the brightest spot in the house - we spent all the time that we were at the house- in there. Or we sat on dining chairs that we brought out in the driveway so we could enjoy the sun. The beds were comfortable. The downstairs exercise area was moldy smelling and creepy. Overall, not a comfortable and inviting property - the photos they show are NOT what the house looks like.

Safety issues, unclean conditions

  • 1 of 5

I am surprised to see the favorable reviews of this place. My husband and I are tent campers and so are very used to rustic conditions. When I pay a bunch of money for a place I think it should be safe, clean and pleasant. I have 9 concerns for this property.

1. There were no screens on the windows in the kitchen and dining room. This could be a safety issue if young children stay at this home as they could fall about 15 feet through the open windows. I noted in previous reviews recorded OVER A YEAR ago that the screens were missing. The property manager said they were going to be replaced and obviously it has not happened.

2. SAFETY ISSUE FIRE The blinds in the bedroom would not stay rolled up beause the ropes that haul the blinds up and hold them in place were broken.I taped them up but In the night the tape came off and the blinds fell and draped over the baseboard heater. The heat came on. They were hot to the touch in the morning.

3. The refrigerator has a leak and there was a puddle of water on the top shelf. We left towels in the refrigerator to absorb the leak.

4. The TV didn't work

5. The kitchen utensils were dirty.

6. There was no place to sit outside. The one lounge chair was filthy.

7. The view windows were quite dirty.

8. The bathtub drain doesn't work properly.....thought it didn't drain at all but then saw that eventually the water did drain out very slowly.

9. Garden was a plastic tarps half covered with wood bark. Weeds. Wobbly picnic table. Dirty lounge chair. No place to sit outside.

Quiet house in the woods

  • 3 of 5

This place had everything we needed for our stay, but we weren't that impressed with the location or the interior. From the pictures we were lead to think there was a trail from the house to the beach and an inviting outdoor space to hang out and enjoy but everything was overgrown and not well maintained. The house could use a deep clean and fixing up. A couple lamps didn't work and one of the tubs had a slow drain - these were issues we overlooked bc we were only staying a few days. The beds were comfy at least!
