About Mike and Holly DeHerrera

My wife, five kids and I love Colorado and especially enjoy hiking and exploring new places.

Mike and Holly DeHerrera purchased this house in 2002

Why Mike and Holly DeHerrera chose South Central

I grew up coming to this part of Colorado. I spent many summer nights camping in 11 mile canyon, about 15 minutes from Silent Creek. I've always loved coming to the mountains to enjoy the outdoors. Then, eleven years ago, my wife and I decided to move up to this beautiful area, making it our home year-round. Now we're excited to turn it in to a vacation rental for others to enjoy.

What makes this house unique

One of the things we fell in love with was the wildlife. We have had up to 20 deer grazing on the property and have even listened to the howls of animals at night or seen a black bear lumbering through the trees below our home. We also love the peaceful, star-filled nights as we sit out on our deck talking. When the sun goes down, often the only things we hear are the wind and an occassional fox looking for food. Not only did we fall in love with the nature up here, but we love our home. We're far enough out that it really feels like a Colorado mountain escape, but close enough to fun outdoor activities.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Just spent a few days at this perfectly located home! It was a birthday celebration for my husband. Great home, great amenities, comfortable, clean and quiet! Plenty of wildlife too! You will love it!

We loved our experience here! From the scenery to the house everything was beautiful! It was our first time being in Colorado and it was a big change for us being from South Texas. We spent Christmas week there and had a white Christmas! We made some new friends there, the deer! They came up to us and let us take pictures with them. A lot of beautiful wildlife roaming. We did a lot of hiking and sledding. The house itself was very roomy and beautiful. Everything we needed was there. We will definitely recommended this place to our family and friends. We will be returning in the near future. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. De Herrera for such a beautiful experience.

Cozy, private and GREAT beds!!

  • 5 of 5

My friend and I spent 4 days/nights here and had a most relaxing time. While the house has easy access to local amenities (state park, nearby towns) and is part of a mountain neighborhood, the experience of being there is one of privacy, silence and timelessness. A great getaway. 2 exquisitely comfortable queen beds in separate bedrooms, and 4 more twins/bunks for little ones. Nice fireplace and decks. Suggestion: Bring extra paper products & your favorite cooking ingredients. Thanks, Holly and Mike! You made it all so easy.

The owners of the cabin are very kind, cabin was very clean and equipped with anything you may need. Except a tv but that will get everyone enjoying each others company.

This was the perfect spot for our family retreat! We saw wildlife every day. Our stay was therapeutic. Silent Creek was just what we needed. I will definitely return here on our next vacation.

Wonderful home!

  • 5 of 5

My colleagues and I rented this property for a conference at The Nature Place down the road in Florissant. We all loved staying here. Mike and Holly went out of their way to make sure we could split our expenses and that was much appreciated. Thank you!

Memorable Trip with our Family of Five

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this gorgeous property back in June and it was wonderful! Our three kids (13,7 and 5) fell in love with the Flourissant National Park which is 5 minutes away. We went there almost every day and took some of the most amazing hikes we have ever taken. We went to the Cheyenne Mtn Zoo and the Wolf Sanctuary (10 minutes away or less) as well! The deer outside the prorperty were a big hit as well. The kitchen was well-stocked with pots and pans, the grill was clean and worked great, the beds were comfortable and the house was so clean! Our kids have asked to come back again this summer just to stay at this property. It truly was a home away from home!
