Our stay at Sunrise Paradise-Lanikai was wonderful! The location was perfect, only a short walk to the beach and the view from the balcony and beach front of the house is spectacular! We would definitely return to this place.
The best vacation
We have spent 10 night at Gina's house. We absolutely loved it! It's 7 months after our get away and we still keep talking about that. We have already recommended the place to our friends and planning to get back. The location is just perfect! One block away from best beach. The house is clean and you will find everything you need inside. We traveled with our almost 2 year old and she loved it. Property has toys, beach chairs, umbrella etc. And its own pack and play which was a big bonus! Gina is really nice and helped us have a wonderful vacation.
We spent the first week of our trip in Maui with family in Kaanapali, where we have visited before. The second part was to be in Oahu and we weren't sure where to stay, Honolulu and Waikiki were not what we wanted. This location turned out to be a fantastic choice, plenty to do in Kailua, great sand from Kailua down to Lanikai and easy to get around the island from here.
Good instructions on how to find and enter the house, parking is tight (as mentioned before) but doable. We had a small SUV so it was much easier than the van that the upstairs folks were driving. We loved the view out the bedroom window in the morning, never closed the blinds and just woke up to the sunrise. Good kitchen, utensils, etc., couch could use some new cushions but that's not where we hung out. Had some friends come over for BBQ one night, sat on the lanai and watched the rainbows, rain, sun and sunset. Gekko's visited just after dark, fun to watch while enjoying the lanai.
Used a few of the chairs, great to have that option for beach days. We will be back, perhaps using the upstairs also, to bring more friends.
Never wanted to leave..
Two young couples from Australia stayed here for a week in February. The flat was just as we imagined, if not better. Amazing views, fully stocked kitchen, comfy beds, ceiling fans, unlimited towels and location, location, location!! Even locals were jealous when they found out where we were staying. The neighbourhood is quiet and the house is situated on the side of the hill overlooking the Mokulua Islands. A quick walk down to Lanikai beach or a 5 minute drive to Kailua. We loved waking up to watch the beautiful sunrises from the beach or balcony. There were window coverings on the windows but we didn't use them! There is no possible way for anyone to see into the windows, as each is surrounded by gardens or very high up from the street. We hired kayaks and set off straight from Lanikai beach to Moku Nui and back. What a rush! The pillbox hike behind the house is great fun and offers fantastic views of the area. The front gate and dishwasher were broken during our stay which was a little annoying but cannot detract from the fantastic value of this rental. One suggestion would also be to invest in a bigger, comfier couch as 4 cannot fit! Minor details though. Who is spending time on the couch in Hawaii? You will find nothing else like this in Lanikai for this price range. Seriously, book it while you can. And believe me, one week is not enough!
Nice View and Comfortable
I stayed here with my 2 teenage daughters. While the cottage offers a nice view, it could stand for some updating. The cottage was stocked with some cooking essentials although we could not locate a toaster. One major downfall was the lack of window coverings. I had read this in another review but was hoping that by the time we arrived there would be window coverings in some of the windows adjacent to neighbors and next to the front door. The parking was another challenge. I did not have a huge car, but the retaining wall and tight space made it almost necessary to have a can opener to get out of the parking stall. I had to hail the help of a neighbor one morning who graciously helped us back out our car. The walk to the beach was great once you hiked your way down the steep hill. Not for those who have bad knees.
Great Stay in Lanikai
We just came back from a 1 week stay at Sunrise Paradise. It was wonderful waking up to the fabulous view every morning. We loved this rental and wished we could have had it for the entire 2 weeks we were in Oahu. I give it 4 1/2 stars. So close to the stunning Lanikai beach in a quiet, high-end neighbourhood. The house is built into the mountain which affords the great view and is kind of cool in itself!
The flat is incredibly well equipped for a vacation rental. Almost like home. This includes the kitchen which had a wide range of decent quality utensils, small appliances, even an ice-maker. There were non-perishable things that previous renters left behind that were kept - salt/pepper, coffee filters, condiments, dish detergent, etc so that you didn't have to buy them for such a short stay. Tons of towels (and I mean tons), beach gear and even a couple of bikes. The washer and dryer worked well and there was even laundry detergent and dryer sheets! The BBQ was brand new which meant that the owners reacted to the commentary from the previous poster.
Really comfy beds. The one in the master bedroom is a pillowtop. The furniture was solid and the decor was pleasantly beachy. Clean with minimal clutter. No air-conditioning but ceiling fans in every room and with the ocean breeze, very comfortable even with the high humidity in Hawaii. No window coverings but since the house in on a hill, the exposure to others is minimal.
Only a couple of things to note, neither of which the owners can change. You need to drive to town if you want to purchase anything. There aren't any shops within walking distance. Secondly, you are best to rent a car that is not too long and that will make manoeuvering into and out of the parking spots easier. Washers on both the kitchen/bathroom faucets need to be changed and a new comfy sofa would be great but these things were minor indeed.
Enjoy relaxing, snorkeling, surfing, Stand up paddling, kayaking, beachcombing, hiking etc.
