About Linda Bannerman
Living on Orcas is a 50-year-ago dream-come-true for me. In 1964, I landed in Mt. Vernon, a freshman at Mt. Vernon High School after a young life of profound difficulties and challenges. During those high school years, I would visit the San Juans often, and remember in particular a high school graduation bike trip to Orcas. Throughout my life travels, I have thought often about those sweet days on Orcas and wondered if I might live here one day. I've worked hard and dreamed sweet. . . and now, finally, here I am. And I want to share it with you. I've taught high school English for 30 years and now have a private practice in counseling. I adore helping others, caring for the earth, and celebrating the beauty of this island and this home. Life is so full of beauty if we are willing to set aside the hustle and bustle of surviving and live just in the moment. Come here to do just that. Listen to the wind whip through the pines and firs in winter. Steady your gaze upon the purple Cascades in the evening sunset, the distant twinkling lights of a city unaware of us at their feet. Welcome the quiet visit of a doe and her buck, hoping for an apple treat offered from your hand. Come celebrate the spectacular gift of life with me here in this quiet and very special oasis.

Why Linda Bannerman chose Eastsound
I wanted a home with light. I wanted a home with the sound of a tumbling creek nearby and the sight of a mated pair of eagles weaving a magic dance in the sky and using the limbs of a fir tree for rest in sight of my bedroom window. i wanted the charm of a bookstore, filled with the smell of fresh brewed coffee and a choice of books about lofts and Hemmingway only minutes from my backdoor. I have it here and want to share it with you. You who are hungry for quiet and beauty.
What makes this Studio unique
This, more than any other guest home you will find, offers you spectacular views and profound quiet. Twinkling lights at night. Purple mountain views at dusk or morning. Vigorous walks on a forested road any time of day at all. Access to a community owned private beach, complete with picnic table and bench on a bluff over the Salish Sea, a front row seat at the foot of Mt. Baker.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
The view from the property was breathtaking. It sits on a mountain not far from downtown. It's not biking/running friendly unless you're VERY fit, but it's a very short drive (less than 3 miles) down to the rolling hills of Orcas Island.
Linda was very kind, helpful and accommodating. The kitchen was appointed as expected and we had more towels than we could have possibly used. :) She lives is right nearby if anything is needed but completely respected our privacy. We'd definitely stay here again!
The view was fabulous! Property was quiet and relaxing.
Great set-up for a single or couple. View is so impressive!
Friendly-easy- magnificent view-great kitchen
We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The view was spectacular, the house was ample in size, kitchen was great, even had some basics like oil and vinegar and spices so we could make dinner. The bed was very comfortable and Linda was friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend it.
Perfect weekend getaway
The guest house was very comfortable and provided a beautiful view of the water. I will definitely stay again next time I’m in the area
You won’t be disappointed.
Perfect accommodations in a spectacular setting.
Beautiful Orcas Island has been called the 'gem of the San Juans.' A mecca for those who love to sail, fly small planes (including sea planes), and enjoy the abundance of marine life and birds, this island boasts moderate temperatures and much less rainfall than surrounding Washington locations. Enjoy one of the 40 live theatre performances a year put on at the Orcas Center. Purchase fresh produce or gifts at the weekly Saturday Farmer's Market. Treat your children to the Funhouse Commons, a kid's museum and youth center fostering education play combining science, technology, music and art. Take a tour of the islands by air or listen to the relaxing sounds at the Chamber Music Festival. The island is home to many talented artists and their works are for sale in the charming village of Eastsound. Hike some portion of the 38 miles of hiking trails in the famous Moran State Park or climb the tower on the top of Mt. Constitution, the highest mountain in the San Juan Islands. Plan your wedding to take place on one of the many fabulous beaches or challenge yourself to cycle the 57 square miles of this horseshoe shaped island. Bring your kids to the famous Camp Orkila or take a horseback ride with Olga Island Trail Rides. Or maybe you'll learn French in a night at nearby Canoe Island French Camp. Visit the Cider and Mead Festival in May or rest in your soft Queen bed after a day visiting the famous Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, ongoing throughout April. Perfect your skills at the Writers Island Poetry Writing Retreat in April or join like-minded women during the popular Women's Wellness Weekend in April. Truly this island has it all.
