Overview

About the property

3 BR, 2 bath saltbox - spacious and right on the lake

This home was built in 1992 100 feet from the shore of Lake Pennesseewassee (a.k.a. Norway Lake) and has been carefully updated and maintained. It is has lots of knotty pine and character including a huge 20x30 deck overlooking the lake and a floating dock system. It has everything you will need for a great vacation. New built-in fire pit added in 2015 with outdoor seating and a great view of the lake. This is a very well-equipped, comfortable year-round executive home. All the quiet of the woods and lake with the amenities you would expect.

This is a great area - less than an hour to shopping and dining in North Conway - about an hour to Freeport and L.L. Bean. Plenty of summer hikes or you can just relax on the lake or cast your line off the dock. Norway has a bookstore, Nomad Cafe for coffee and lunch, a health food market, artist store and gallery. There's a full-service grocery store and a WalMart close by.

About Myron Kassaraba

We are from outside of Boston - love Maine - skiing in the winter and summers on the lake. Now that our kids are older, we are making our home available on selected weeks to responsible families and couples so they can create their own special memories.

Myron Kassaraba purchased this house in 1992

Why Myron Kassaraba chose Mountains & Lakes

We bought the lot in 1991 and built our home in 1992. The sun porch and finished basement were added in 2003. It has been a great retreat for our family for more than 20 years. Norway Lake is special since it is big enough to waterski or take a sunset cruise but is generally very quiet. White's Marina has boat rentals or gas and service if you have your own boat. You can go by water to Boomers for pizza and cocktails on the deck or to the Lake Store for awesome donuts and the newspaper in the morning.

What makes this house unique

Our home is casual with plenty of knotty pine and comfortable furnishings. Unlike a seasonal rustic camp, this is a year-round home with modern amenities.

Notes:
This is our vacation home that has not previously been rented. We look forward to sharing it with families and couples looking to create special memories at a beautiful spot. Pet policy: Limited to small dogs - less than 20 lbs. hypo-allergenic/non-shedding breeds only. NOTE: We are in a sheltered cove. This can be a big advantage since we are sheltered from the prevailing wind and there is not a lot of boat traffic/noise. There is no beach on the property, you swim off the dock. The bottom is mucky but the water is crystal clear. The water depth off the end of the dock is typically 4-5 ft. though can vary based on the lake level. There is a sandy public beach at Pennesseewassee Park that can be reached by car or by boat. This is also the location of the public boat ramp. There is docking for a boat. We have a 19 ft. I/O that will be moved to a mooring when you rent. There are stumps/shallows in the center of the cove. Makes for great fishing. There is a clear channel that is marked

Home away from home

  • 5 of 5

We just got back from a week at this wonderful lake house. I must first say how clean the house was and how accurate the pictures and description were. There were no surprises upon arrival. Myron was great with communicating throughout the whole rental process, the time leading up to our arrival and even during our stay. The Kassarabas thought of everything that you could possibly need. There wasn't a time when I thought "gee I wish we had this". We made most of our meals at home, but did go to the Norway Brewing Company for dinner one night and that was a great meal and fun atmosphere. We enjoyed using the paddle board and paddle boat and sitting around the fire pit in the evening. The basement had lots of games that we were able to choose from, but my favorite spot in the house was the sunroom. Just so comfortable and peaceful to sit there and look out onto the lake through the huge picture window. Having use of a washer and dryer was a huge plus. I truly felt that I was staying at a family members house. I guess the only way I can portray how nice this whole experience was is to say that we have already planned on booking the house again for next summer!

Great House, Great Location!!

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I had a great time staying at Myron's house in Norway. I did a ton of research before picking this house, and I am glad I did. The lake is quiet, and the location of the house in the cove is just perfect. The water is warmer since it's much more shallow, and even fishing off the dock is great. We were big fans of the paddleboat and kayaks. The paddleboat was a great way to cruise around the lake, and of all the places I researched (over 20) this was the only house that had one. We also saw all types of wildlife, including beautiful birds and a giant turtle, all right in the cove area.

The house itself is wonderful. The basement is large, and full of games for children, while the living room is big and roomy. Outside there is a custom built fire pit, which we found ourselves surrounding almost every night. Myron meticulously documented everything about the house in a binder. It contained information like nearby restaurant menus, instructions on how to use the grill, and which remote controls to use. He was super responsive and a pleasure to deal with.

Supermarkets, restaurants, and more are a 10-15 minute drive away. Also, the internet is pretty fast, which came in handy since a few of us had to do some work. I highly recommend this house, and hope to be back in the future.

Great place

  • 5 of 5

Myron is a very generous host. The home was perfect for my family with the 2 grand kids. Plenty of room and quiet neighbors. The home is wonderful with plenty of room to spread out upstairs and downstairs. Great deck to eat on or just sit and enjoy the view. We used the kayaks a lot and paddled around to see the eagles nest. The eagle actually caught a nice fish right out in the middle of the cove. Nature at it's best. Loon calls at night were great to listen to. Best fishing I found was out of the cove and to the left. For the kids a bobber and worm right off the dock does great for them. Definatly considering Myron's lake home for another visit in the future. We stayed from 7/16/16 to 7/23/16.

Fantastic vacation!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay on Norway Lake will be something we will never forget & will be the vacation we talk about for the rest of our lives. The views of the lake were beautiful. It was so peaceful, quiet, & relaxing. We had beautiful weather except for the last with rain, but it was nice to curl up on the couch in the sunroom with a good book (with a view of the lake, of course). The house was exactly as pictured, just beautiful & you can tell the owners take great pride in their lovely home. We enjoyed hanging out on the dock looking out over the lake & had so much fun using the kayaks & stand up paddleboard. We rented a pontoon boat & enjoyed cruising over to the Lake Store for breakfast sandwiches & doughnuts. The town of Norway is a quaint little town. We went to Cafe Nomad (very good) for lunch, they also serve breakfast & various coffee drinks. Highly recommend this lake house. The owners are so nice & checked in with us to make sure everything was ok & if we needed anything. Thank you for some awesome memories!!!!

Perfect vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We just concluded our stay at the lake and we had an absolutely wonderful time and spectacular weather the week we were there. The home is lovely, well cared for and spacious. The pictures capture the essence of the home and the owner's attention to the various details add to the overall experience. The views from the house of the lake are incredible between the decks, fire pit area and the various rooms of the actual house. We enjoyed having the use of the kayaks and the paddle boat. The cove that the home is located was perfect due to having less traffic in the area of the other boaters. The owners, Myron and Ellen, were awesome to work with and we are so looking forward to returning to this rental again! Our vacation was filled with some great memories of relaxation and being with family and friends from the area. Highly recommend this property!!!! Thank you again!!!!

Wonderful lake home in a beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

We can't say enough about this lovely home on Norway Lake. The setting is beautiful and the view lovely. The house is in great condition and well-stocked with any supply you might need, be it kitchen supplies, linens, games, or fun water toys to use off the great dock. The owners were excellent to work with and checked in with us while we were there be certain all was going well. Norway Lake is a perfect size - not too busy, but great for any kind of boating or fishing. And there were lots of fun places to visit nearby (although we had to force ourselves to leave the lake). A great vacation for a couple, family or group of friends!
