Overview

About the property

4 bedroom, 3 bathroom in a wooded setting

You're lounging on an expansive second-level deck, looking out into the pines, with a glass of wine and a good book. A hawk soars above as the sun slowly sets through the trees. As dusk settles, you decide to walk down to the private beach at the end of the road and dip your toes in the lake one more time, as someone else lights up the grill and turns on the music. Tomorrow will be another day filled with laid-back, natural beaches, gallery hopping, and maybe a little shopping. Life is good.

Come experience our little corner of southwestern Michigan. Our 4-bedroom, 3-bathroom cedar home sleeps at least 8 people. It has 3 floors, a large kitchen and living room area, and vaulted ceilings with picturesque windows that highlight the surrounding wooded setting. A 2-level deck wraps around 2 sides of the house, and has a barbecue grill and dining space. A path at the end of the street provides private beach access to Silver Lake, which empties into Kalamazoo Lake and Lake Michigan. Downtown Saugatuck and Douglas are a quick 2-mile drive away.

Visit local wineries, pick blueberries with the kids, or hike the trails of Saugatuck Dunes State Park. Head down to Oval Beach or rent kayaks to navigate the calm inner waters around town. Go boating up shores of Lake Michigan or antiquing up Blue Star Highway. There really is something for everyone.

Peak Season reservations are Friday to Friday, for a 7-night minimum.

About Rachel

Daymon and Rachel currently reside just around the lake in Evanston, IL. They love spending time at their Saugatuck home and especially love to take long hikes at Saugatuck Dunes State Park with their daughter and dog. They are excited to share their home and this charming area with others!

Rachel purchased this house in 2006

Why Rachel chose Southwest

This location and home strike the perfect balance. It is a relaxing retreat from it all, but it is just a short drive from Chicago and other major areas. Its setting promotes quiet reflection, but its open layout and expansive main areas encourage quality time with family and friends.

Great family getaway home

  • 5 of 5

We had 6 adults and two young boys, ages 5 and 9. The house worked really well in terms of space. We all loved the expansive deck, the fire pit and the 1 block walk to the private neighborhood beach. The home is on a dead end street with little traffic, making it a great place for kids to ride their bikes. Less than a 5 minute drive to town- just far enough away for lots of quiet.

Wonderful find,. great location

  • 5 of 5

Our family really enjoyed our time here. Chalet is very clean and well-furnished. Particularly loved the location and the lake access at the end of the street--water much warmer than Lake Michigan! We also enjoyed sitting in the family room (watching TV, reading, and using the internet), and looking at the beautiful treed property. Very large second story deck is also a wonderful unique feature to this house.

Nice House, Just what we were looking for!

  • 5 of 5

We booked this house for the week of the 4th of July and it did not disappoint. We had 7 adults, 3 kids and 2 small dogs. We had plenty of room and felt comfortable. The master bedroom loft was pretty spacious and has a nice balcony that overlooks the main living room. The private beach was nice although it is open to everyone on the street. It was somewhat busy due to being 4th of July week, but there was still plenty of room for us to swim and play. The house is less than ten minutes from downtown Saugatuck and only about 20 minutes from Holland. The neighboring houses were closer to the house than you would think, but the trees make it feel private. We had a great time and would recommend it!

Great place! We thoroughly enjoyed the home and it's amenities!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first stay in the area and we will return, asap. The property was clean and well furnished. 7 adults were well accommodated and had a great weekend mini-vacation. Personally, I could stare out the window wall at the tall pines swaying in the wind for hours. The neighborhood is quiet and cozy as is the home. We spent some time in area breweries but our favorite was the small town groecery store which was reminiscent of days gone by, very friendly and charming!
