We prefer to speak with prospective renters prior to finalizing a rental to ensure each renter will be satisfied and the house will meet your needs.

This 3 bedroom 2 bath property has a master with king size bed, full bath and a window looking out to Engineer Mountain. The upstairs has two bedrooms with queen size beds, and a loft containing a small writing desk and fold out full size bed as well as the second full bathroom. It will sleep up to 8 but it does get very cozy with that many people as the pull out couch is a full and has all of the charm typical of a pull out love seat.

The open plan kitchen, dining and living area is complete with an antique wood burning stove. Floor to ceiling windows look out on the Needles Mountains and Spud Mountain.

A washer and dryer are conveniently located in the 'mud room' and the full service kitchen has a dishwasher and electric stove.

Located less than 2 miles form Durango Mountain Resort, Cascade Village has winter bus service to the ski lifts available. It is also easy to drive and park at the ski area. The lower lots are serviced by a beginner lift and no ski pass is required to enter the lower lift. We have stayed in 'ski in ski out' properties with less convenient access to the slopes than is found at Cascade Village.

An indoor pool and hot tubs maintained by the resort are minutes from the front door, complete with exercise room and outdoor grills. The house is supplied with an outdoor grill and sun shade for the back porch.

About Kenneth or Cristina Adams

Our family currently resides in Albuquerque New Mexico approximately 4 hours from our Durango Mountain Home. My wife and I grew up in Fort Worth, Texas where both or our children were born.

During medical training we found ourselves in the Northeast for four years, as we lived in Fort Washington outside of Philadelphia and Allison Park near Pittsburgh at different times. Upon settling in New Mexico in 2008 and opening a medical practice in Albuquerque, we have decided to share our mountain hideaway with others, as we have less time to enjoy the wonders of Colorado due to an increasingly busy schedule.

Why Kenneth or Cristina Adams chose Southwest

VIEWS, VIEWS, VIEWS! I have not found any resort area in Colorado with views as stunning as Cascade village. Nestled on Highway 550 just before the first big bend as it winds up through Coal Bank and Molas Passes to Silverton and Ouray, Cascade Village commands stunning ever changing views of Engineer mountain, Spud Mountain and the Needles Mountains. Skiing, snow shoeing, hiking, and fishing opportunities are minutes from the front door.

My wife and I grew up skiing from Colorado to Alberta, Canada. Out of habit we frequented the resorts along the I-70 corridor for many years, though we had enjoyed several summer visits to Durango in the mid 1990s. Upon settling in Albuquerque we skied Taos, Telluride and Santa Fe before falling in love with the Durango area.

Durango provides an infinitely wider range of activities for all age ranges. From the Resort Alpine Slide and bungee jumping, to zip lines through the trees, train rides, antique shops, art galleries, mine tours, old west re-enactments, hiking, biking, fishing, horseback riding and rafting to name only a few.

The first two years we owned the property found the family in Durango most of the summer and occasionally in the winter. After more than 200 days in the house we have barely even scratched the surface of available activities.

Since 2010 we have enjoyed discovering new 'Jeep' trails in our off road vehicle and have many more Summer and Winter adventures planned.

What makes this house unique

This spacious 3 bedroom home commands some of the best views between Durango and Silverton available from any private property.

We looked at numerous homes and condos along the mountain. None of them combined the mix of views, convenience to winter activities, access to summer outdoor activities and quaint charm as this house. Another tremendous benefit is the children's rooms, upstairs allow them to retire for the night while the adults enjoy the warmth of the stove or go outside to watch the Milky Way glide overhead.

Since the home is not surrounded by tall trees the views are unobstructed. Architectural details are wonderfully included with a quaint Elk Mosaic in the entry way and an Elk head in the great room (personally I do not hunt so the credit for the Elk goes to the property builders who constructed it in approximately 2005).

As always we are welcomed by Kenneth and Cristina into their lovely home. It is always ready for our arrival. The house sits just north of the ski area making it less than 5 minutes to drop off and onto the slopes. Two families plus our kiddos have plenty of room to hang out and rest. We love this home in the Mountains!! Look forward to staying again next year.

Very lovely home with the convenience of Cascade Village amenities. Everything was as described, fully stocked kitchen, lovely deck to enjoy and the ceiling fans made the cool evenings even more pleasant. Easy trip to Silverton as well as all the activities at Durango Mountain Resort. Would definitely return.

Great place to be - from an appreciative husband, father, and grandfather

The mountain home was clean, well equipped, and very conducive for everything we wanted to do. We loved the layout of everything, including access to the hot tub and pool just a short walk away. The beds and the rest of the furniture were very comfortable for sleeping, relaxing, eating, and playing games. The great picture windows were perfect for taking in the incredible scenery and giving you the sense that you were in the mountains and away from all the things that distracted from a great vacation.

Cascade Village rests midway between Durango and Silverton less than two minutes from the entrance of Durango Mountain Resort. Skiing, sledding, cross counry skiing and snowshoeing are popular winter activities; however, summer allows many more opportunities for adventure.

Cascade Village amenities include indoor pool access, outdoor hot-tubs, exercise / weight room, public access grills and even a pond stocked with trout.

Numerous hiking and mountain biking trail heads are availble within walking distance of Cascade Village, Durango is a world class fly fishing and hunting destination with numerous outfitters in town. Silverton is 30 minutes north through some of the most spectacular scenery in all of Colorado. Wildlife is abundant and we frequently see bear, deer and hummingbirds from our balcony.

The summer music in the Mountains festival is a world class venue where some of the most celebrated classical musicians from around the globe congregate to produce the finest symphonic music at one of the most beautiful alpine areas in the country.

Durango Mountain Resort affords opportuinties for adults and children of all ages during the summer including the alpine slide, mechanical bull, zip line and bungee jumping. The Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge Railway is one of the most authentic and most famous historic steam engine routes in the country. White water rafting and tubing along the Animas river is fun for the whole family.

The list of activities is boundless from tree top zip line adventures, gold mine tours, panning for gold, fishing, boating at Electra Lake, horseback tours, spelunking or just watching the scenery. Art lovers will enjoy the galleries in Durango and Silverton presents a live re-enactment of a famous 19th century shootout every evening during the summer. Antinque shops and other quaint venues abound.

Offroad 'Jeep' / ATV trails are abundant. Trail heads starting at Durango Mountain resort lead to old abandoned mine sites, beaver ponds and spectacular vistas.
