Relaxing, charming, spacious home
We were visiting family in Great Barrington, so location-wise, this place was perfect. The front porch with rockers and a wooden swing was so inviting, we spent much of our time there having our coffee in the morning and drinks in the evening.
The living space was very open and inviting, with all of the amenities you could expect. There were many children's toys and books, which was great for my 2 year old nephew. Leading uphill to the house are large stepping stones, the back yard is flat, so perfect for relaxing while you grill out, there's also a small fire pit. We enjoyed chatting on the big leather couches inside while listening to music. Neighbors are close, but with all of the trees you wouldn't even know they were there.
There were 4 decent sized bedrooms, one equipped with a crib. All linens and towels were provided, the only strange thing we found was that we had to wash and dry the towels before checking out. Other than that, the place was fantastic! We had a cook out for family one night and the gathering spot was the front porch. We'll be back!
Nice, but disconnected from the outside world
The property is clean, attractive, light, airy, and generally well-maintained and well-equipped. We enjoyed watching mama cardinal build her nest in the dogwood tree just outside the dining area and listening to the barred owls at night. The swing on the front porch is a great place to enjoy a good book. There is a little bit of noise from road traffic but not enough to be a real bother. Overall, it is a fairly peaceful and private setting. The owner responded promptly to inquiries. We didn’t have phone reception at the house (Sprint) but a land line is available for local calls. Be advised that contrary to the listing on VRBO/HomeAway, the property does NOT have internet access. This was problematic for us in terms of trying to check weather and plan outings.
Very spacious, extremely clean and attractive, great beds
We very much enjoyed our stay here. The beds were firm and comfortable and there was plenty of space for hanging out. I had not noticed when I booked that there is no Internet and only AT&T cell service and I did find that inconvenient as a Verizon customer. It's a pretty quick drive to Great Barrington which has lots of restaurants and shops. It's also quite close to Monument Mountain as well as other trails.
modern design but folksy, well-appointed house
Spacious four-bedroom house with everything we needed for a small dinner party one of the nights of our stay. Relaxing porch swing and rocking chair. Great big windows to let in the light.
Lovely house in the berkshires
We enjoyed our stay at Kathy's house in the Berkshires. The house was clean and nicely furnished. Though it was on a fairly busy road it was far enough back to be quiet. It was a great location to get to various Berkshire attractions. The only issue we had was that the owner requested that we wash and dry the towels before we left at 11:00 am. Since we were already paying $100 housekeeping fee we did not feel that this was appropriate
Idyllic and serene.
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house had all that we needed for our eating and sleeping needs. Our two year old daughter had a blast playing with all the toys and reading the small library of children's books in the living room. The neighboring towns of Stockbridge and Great Barrington provided all that we could want for activities and restaurants. Highly recommend the Mexican restaurant Xicohtencatl. Perfect home for families with young children, would definitely stay again.
The Berkshires are known for the cultural abundance as well as several nice restaurants. Our house is located within 20 minutes to the following venues: Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow, Berkshire Theater Festival and more. The Appalachian Trail is within walking distance of the house. The Berkshires are also offer many hiking and biking trails to enjoy.
