About Darrin Towe
As an avid sailor I immediately saw the value of this wonderful property. Not only did it provide year round protection for my anchored boats it also considered by many folks in the boating community as one of the most pristine bays in Puget Sound. With an acre of property there are many ways to enjoy. My favorites include fires next to the beach, stand up paddling, kayaking and enjoying the fantastic view.
Darrin Towe purchased this House in 2012
Why Darrin Towe chose Port Ludlow
At only an hour and half away from Seattle this property is the perfect country and beach retreat. I come here when the busy city life becomes overwelming. If your a golfer the news is even better as Port Ludlow provides some great courses. Not into golf? Then how about Port Townsend? Only a short 20 minute drive to the historic city.
What makes this House unique
Having grown up in Seattle I knew first hand that there are very limited waterfront homes like this one. With a public boat launch just 500 feet away one can put their boat in and then have it in front of the house during their stay.

We had rain most of our time, but our last morning was gorgeous! It is a great place to relax and enjoy time together no matter the weather. The kitchen has most everything you would need for cooking/preparing your own meals. We could have used a couple more bowls for soup/cereal - only found four. The beds were comfortable and sleeping was good once we figured out how to adjust the heat (so it wasn't too hot). We enjoyed the fireplace the first night but had trouble the second day with smoke in the house (after using the fan in the morning). It seems like the fan may have stayed on at a very low speed, but we aren't sure. We couldn't tell if it was off or we were just hearing noise from the refrigerator. Does it turn off on its own after a period of time or can it be manually stopped? It might be nice to have some instructions for the fan remote. At any rate, we had to stop using the fireplace because of the smoke coming inside. We totally enjoyed our stay, though, and would recommend this VRBO. We would go again.
Perfect place for making memories
My brothers and sisters came together to celebrate a birthday. The Mats Mats Beach House was the perfect spot. The photos do not do it justice. Perfectly appointed, we did not want for anything. Darrin was great to work with and responded quickly to questions. I will definitely be back.
We have stayed here several times and have always loved it. It is one of our favorite places!
Return trip required!
Overall this is a great VRBO property that my family and I enjoyed and when we return are hopeful Darrin will have an opening for our reservation. It’s a beautiful and well appointed home with spectacular scenery. If I had to suggest a few updates to make it a 5 star - a launch for the kayaks into the bay - slippery navigating the rocks into the water and a bit of a pull at low tide. Master bedroom has zero closets so no place to hang clothes. Other than that we LOVED it. We took full advantage of the waterside fire pit out back, fireplace in the house, BBQ grill on the back deck, and took the kayaks out to the Sound and played with the harbor seals! Thanks again Darrin your beautiful home made us not want to leave Port Ludlow!
Idyllic location and cozy home
The photos very accurately depicted this very lovely home, inside and out. The location is idyllic, the bay was like glass each of our 5 days (despite some rain), the oysters are plentiful and R&R is yours for the taking. Access was great, particularly for my aging parents, and especially following a stay at a place which included 60 steps down to the beach. The kitchen was stocked with cooking staples and tools (could’ve used a few more dishes). Darrin was very accommodating and responsive. We were disappointed to not be able to use the kayaks because life jackets were not provided, but we found plenty other things to occupy our time. It was an all-around pleasant, comfortable and relaxing stay in an area which offers so many things to do. Easily recommended. Thank you!
Over the top experience !!!
This is an exceptional property and location to truly enjoy and experience the coastal Pacific Northwest !!!!
The home is beautiful and very comfortable equipped with everything for your needs.
The location on the bay can't be beat especially if you enjoy a campfire and a great glass of wine while savoring a extended summer evening.
The property owner was easy to contact and most gracious!
We look forward to coming back in the future !!!!
