Town of Estes Park License # 3074. With an exquisite view of Longs Peak, this 3800 sq. foot home offers the best mountain top experience. Situated within four miles of the Rocky Mountain National Park which offers amazing activities of nature and wildlife. The rambling house provides many nooks from which to enjoy exquisite views or a leisurely cup of tea or coffee. The patio offers a quiet and serene atmosphere for grilling, gathering the family, relaxing, and keeping watch for wildlife. The blue spruces, pine trees, and juniper provide a sense of seclusion while just an easy walk to downtown. The garden and green lawn provide another area to relax or play as you enjoy the view of the gondola on Prospect Mountain, views of Longs Peak, and its neighboring peaks.

Cook traditional family recipes in this well equipped kitchen with stainless steel pots and pans, four-slice toaster, microwave, Cuisinart blender, Keurig coffee maker, wine glasses, kitchen tools, slow cook cooker, and more all complementing this beautiful kitchen.

The cabinets and bench seat are beetle kill from a local wood mill in Drake, Colorado. The knotty pine cabinets and walls are in the dinning room. The rich woods add a warm atmosphere to our home.

The sizeable and unique dining-sunroom-living room has rich oak floors that accent the elegance of tradition and the invitation of comfort. The lengthy living room allows for two separate seating areas with twin leather sofas that speak of western hospitality. Adjacent to this area are two bedrooms with queen beds and a classy stone bathroom.

Upstairs are two beautiful master suites. One has an adjacent sitting room with an east balcony plus lounge chairs for an early cup of coffee. There is a private bathroom with two sinks. The second master suite has a cabin atmosphere with pine tongue-and-groove paneled walls and oak flooring. This suite also has a private bathroom.

Available for your outdoor activities is the use of day packs. There is always extra ice for packing up for a day activity. If you should decide to have an evening “at home”, there are board games, yard darts and Corn Hole Toss.

This vacation site is a seven minute walk to our downtown shopping and restaurant area. Safeway and the historic Stanley Hotel are within walking distance. MacGregor Ranch is also a short walk to enjoy the museum presentation. Twin Owls Steakhouse is along the way to the museum.

The home is peaceful and serene with an abundance of mountain birds in the early morning hours or gathered at the birdbaths among the native wild flowers. It is the perfect spot for gathering three or four couples, a small family, holiday gatherings or a small company retreat. It's a home for a writer, photographer or artist will find it a nesting place for creativity.

About Owner/Property Manager

Paul's grandmother bought the original cabin after she retired from teaching English literature at University of Colorado. As we assumed ownership, we both added to and updated the original home. With our grandchildren coming into the home, five (5) generations of Romigs have enjoyed the house, the grounds, the Town of Estes Park, and the restful and yet stimulating beauty of the Rocky Mountains. Paul was born in Denver but grew up in the Northern Virginia suburbs. Ellen was raised in the near suburbs of Washington, D.C.. We met at an elementary school in McLean, VA where we both were employed. We vacationed here several summers before finally moving to Colorado in 1988.

What makes this house unique

We love the views from the large picture windows from which we see Twin Sisters, Long's Peak, and the majestic high country peaks of Rocky Mountain National Park. As place to vacation, we enjoyed getting up early, going for hikes, coming back to the house for food and rest, playing Uno, and enjoying a stroll downtown to wander through the shops in the evenings...maybe stopping in one of the ice cream parlors for a cone.

What a wonderful week we had here! The weather was great and we did some fabulous hikes: Deer Mountain, Emerald Lake, and many others.We enjoyed a wonderful bike trip down Old Fall River Road. It was closed to traffic, so we were able to enjoy a peaceful ride, stopping to explore beautiful waterfalls and encountering multiple elk. What we particularly enjoyed was having the chance to hear from people who love Colorado and shared their enthusiasm with us. Our bike trip tour guide shared stories of how the big floods affected the town and pointed out the start of Fall River on the mountains. Ellen and Paul told a couple of stories about their Grandma Edna's life here. Seeing photos of the views from the house in the past (before the trees filled in and blocked the view of Estes Park Lake) and how the house has evolved and grown is fascinating.

We are so grateful for this rich experience and hope we'll be back!!

Ellen and Paul's home is spacious, super clean and convenient to RMNP and town

This house is terrific and huge! There is plenty of room to stretch out but it still feels cozy and warm. There is a lot of history in this home and it's decorated tastefully. The views are beautiful and our first morning there we saw a male elk with several females in the yard! It's very close to town (actually in town) and was so convenient to grocery shop or get to RMNP and Elk Horn Avenue but it was still quiet. The back patio is beautiful and a great place to enjoy the outdoors with a glass of wine. Ellen was so friendly and helpful before we arrived and during our stay. Blue Spruce is truly a gem!

Perfect in every way

Our family of 7 rented this amazing property during the July 4 week and there aren't enough stars to reflect how much we loved Paul & Ellen home. First of all, in terms of location there is no better. The property is tucked inside a quiet side road and yet you can easily walk to town. The home is also 4 miles to the less busy entrance to RMNP. Trust us, this is very important.

They have thought of everything in terms of comfort and the layout of the house is great whether you have one big family or want some zoning if grandparents are tagging along with a young family. There are two enormous Masters upstairs with their own bathrooms and then the other bedrooms are downstairs on the other side of the house. We could not hear our college age boys at night--not one peep. The kitchen has everything you will need, and then some. The outdoor space with it's BBQ, huge patio, firepit, Baggo, games, etc was where you would find us after a long day of hiking. Paul & Ellen also gave us help along the way when we needed direction about where to go for horseback riding, kayaking or eating! We travel a lot as a family and have stayed in a lot of vacation rentals by owner and we all agreed that our stay at Paul & Ellen's was the BEST to date. What made it the best was that Paul & Ellen have created a vacation rental that blends the modern conveniences of home in a natural space that fits right into the natural beauty of Colorado. When there was an opening, I was concerned that there was something really wrong or strange about the house. Then I learned that they had just started renting their home. What a blessing for us--we will never forget the wonderful memories created up the hill from Wonder View. --Jim (55), Robbie (55), Mandy (30), Allie (24), Jack (22), Lyndsey(20) and Henry (16). P.S. With a family our size, the dining room table was fantastic!!!!!!!!!!! We are usually all squished.

Wonderful! Beautiful views, close to town and RMNP. Tons of space!

This house is wonderful as are Ellen and Paul. We have a lovely time in Estes, due in large part to the amazing house. The space is perfect for families or multiple couples. We loved eating on the patio, playing cornhole in the driveway, and exploring the yard. At one point three elk went trotting by while we were outside! Having stayed in various places in Estes, this place may top the list because of the convenience, space, location and views. Thank you, Ellen and Paul!

Beautiful home in Estes Park in quiet neighborhood

Blue Spruce Corner was everything that it was advertised to be! Our family had gathered from all over the country in Denver for a wedding in Mid June, and this was the perfect place to relax and unwind after all the festivities. We had 6 adults, 2 couples and 2 singles, so having 4bedrooms that accommodated adults was very nice. Having 2 bedrooms on the 1st/main floor allowed our physically challenged(using a walker) family member to enjoy the stay as well. We enjoyed spending time outside on the patio, watching the nesting hummingbird and other wildlife while visiting with the family. The location was perfect! Not far from town and the Safeway. The RMNP entrance is just a few miles down the road, so we were able to drive the Trail Ridge Road early in the morning, before the crowds. The house is located right off the main road, but you would never know it. We had all the peace and quiet and privacy as if we were the only house around.

The Romig's were wonderful hosts. If we ever come back to Estes Park, we would definitely stay here again.

Estes lake is 5 minutes away, the National Park is also 5 minutes away. Enjoy wildlife from our community, many attractions for children, bumper cars, giant slide and mini-golf. There are also a variety of churches available. The Eldorado ski resort is only a little over an hour away..an exceptional outing during the winter.
