About Melissa Flynn

Hospitality provided by chef-owner, Melissa Flynn, who will always have a complimentary treat waiting for your arrival. She’s a longtime Seattle resident who knows a thing or two about hospitality, culinary arts, beer and a local favorite entertainment: burlesque. She is a traveler and has enjoyed staying in many diverse places worldwide. A third generation NW Innkeeper, of sorts, this is her first guesthouse and she is thrilled to share it with tourists of the world! Her property is a sentimental place she has continued to own and maintain for nearly 20 years. It's a delightful, comfortable space in a great Seattle location.

Melissa Flynn purchased this bungalow in 1995

Why Melissa Flynn chose Seattle

The property was purchased nearly twenty years ago when Melissa was given the first-choice to buy as a tenant. The great neighborhood and charm plus added bonus of it being income property made it an irresistible opportunity.

What makes this bungalow unique

Location, location, location! There is so much to do in Seattle and this nicely appointed, cozy guesthouse is accessible to everywhere.

Cute and Cozy

  • 5 of 5

I was recently in Seattle on business and this little cottage suited me perfectly! It was within walking distance to a seemingly infinite number of breweries, bars, and restaurants in Ballard; and a $10-$20 Uber ride to everything else. The owners LITERALLY greeted us with fresh baked muffins and recently picked plums!!! I had no challenges with booking or payment, and my security deposited was refunded in a very timely manner. I'll recommend this place to any associates traveling to the area.

Location, location, location!

  • 4 of 5

If you plan to spend a lot of your visit to Seattle in the Ballard area or downtown, and don't want the bother and expense of a car, you can't beat this house. Everything is easy and convenient to get to. The home is nice and the bedroom is quiet. Sleeping on the sofa-bed in the living room is good if you are not bothered by traffic noise.

Clean and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

This house had everything we wanted in it and Melissa is an excellent host. She was easy to contact and very friendly and welcoming. She brought us all kinds of snacks and drinks and was really thoughtful. We would stay here again. Loved the coffee and tea each morning and we even used the iron. Great location too.

Good location

  • 4 of 5

I would have given this location 3 1/2 stars but that rating doesn't exist.

On the positive side, the 'house' is beautifully decorated and the kitchen extremely well equipted. We enjoyed the muffins, cookies, beer, and gelato left for us. The backyard has a nice swing next to the huge blackberry bush.

But on the negative side, it is very small and I'm glad that there were no more than two of us staying there because we tripped over each other in the kitchen. It is located on a busy street with a bus line; the express bus is very convenient for getting downtown. However, even with all the windows closed, one can hear the traffic noises all night. And if that doesn't wake you up at night, the sound of the fridge motor will - I thought a helicopter had landed in the yard the first night.

All in all, I would stay here again as it's convenient. But if a roomier vacation rental not on 8th Ave. opened up, I would go there instead.

Very convenient and welcoming!

  • 5 of 5

Melissa was easy to communicate with and clearly spent a lot of time making the place homey. She left muffins and beer for us when we arrived, which were great! We loved picking blackberries in the backyard and walking to all the great restaurants and breweries in the neighborhood. We'd definitely come back if we're in Ballard again! Thanks for a great vacation.

Comfortable home in a Great Location!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at this home for 3 nights and had a very nice experience. We met the owner Melissa, who was wonderful and greeted us with fresh baked muffins & complimentary refreshments. The home was very clean and nicely decorated. There is no air conditioning, but the window fans kept us plenty comfortable. We were able to walk to downtown Ballard to enjoy the farmers market and to the zoo (although it is a pretty stiff up hill walk). Overall this home worked great for my wife and I during our visit to Seattle.
