About Melissa Flynn
Hospitality provided by chef-owner, Melissa Flynn, who will always have a complimentary treat waiting for your arrival. She’s a longtime Seattle resident who knows a thing or two about hospitality, culinary arts, beer and a local favorite entertainment: burlesque. She is a traveler and has enjoyed staying in many diverse places worldwide. A third generation NW Innkeeper, of sorts, this is her first guesthouse and she is thrilled to share it with tourists of the world! Her property is a sentimental place she has continued to own and maintain for nearly 20 years. It's a delightful, comfortable space in a great Seattle location.
Melissa Flynn purchased this Bungalow in 1995
Why Melissa Flynn chose West Woodland
The property was purchased nearly twenty years ago when Melissa was given the first-choice to buy as a tenant. The great neighborhood and charm plus added bonus of it being income property made it an irresistible opportunity.

Cozy and Charming
My husband and I spent a month in this sweet little house. Melissa was so helpful and very welcoming. The vintage furniture and pieces provide for a really cozy feeling. The bed is super comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed to cook and bake! I really enjoyed sitting in the backyard on the glider swing. You are just a few blocks away from the center of Ballard and we found great restaurants. The Sunday Farmers market is so good! We could have stayed longer. Thank you Melissa for providing a great place for us to stay.
Had a great time in Seattle, staying at this cozy little home in Seattle. Loved relaxing in the yard, an arm's reach away from delicious berries.
Extremely clean and unique
Right from the start the owner was very helpful and kind. She gave us many suggestions on what to do and where to go. Everything we needed was in the home and she also left great muffins and cookies. Another plus was the blackberry bush in the backyard. The property was central enough that we were able to bike almost everywhere or hop an Uber for cheap. We would definitely stay again!!!
Very warm and homey
Our 1st visit to Seattle. Very big city and lots to do. Melissa's home was a wonderful place to come to at the end of the day. An oasis in the heart of the city. Easy parking and access to public transportation which we used to go downtown. We highly recommend staying here. And homemade muffins to boot!
Perfect Ballard spot + craft beer heaven locale
This duplex is great. If you're from Seattle, it is what you picture when you think of traditional Ballard. It is vintage and indeed charming. My husband and I really loved it. The bed was amazingly comfortable; the kitchen had everything you could want including a nice, big fridge; the living room was reasonable for a couple to hang out. Melissa was friendly and helpful. We accidentally left a car key inside after locking the door and she kindly mailed it on to us. She also was accommodating when we arrived in town much earlier than check-in time and needed to dump our baggage even though it was time for the house to be cleaned.
As others have noted, one of the best values of this house is its location. It turns out that within about a 6-10 block radius, there are dozens of little craft beer places. They're easy to walk to and all have a fun, outdoor summer vibe. My husband is WAY into craft beer so this was a little slice of heaven for him.
One more thing, there is a terrific laundromat right at the end of the block that was handy for us.
Great house in Ballard for exploring Seattle
Clean and comfortable house; perfect for our Seattle weekend. Homemade muffins were a delicious bonus!
Ideal location for craft brewing enthusiasts: there are 9 micro-breweries in close proximity! I have a list! The best Neapolitan pizza outside of Italy is just a short walk from the door.
