About Odis or Rhonda Chambers

Odis and I have been married 34 years. We have lived in this area basically all those years. We raised our family in this location and still enjoy most of our family living close by. I (Rhonda) was born here. Odis' family hails from the Cades Cove area of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. His family moved to Blount County when Cades Cove was established as part of the National Park. The property on which your cabin sits was originally deeded to Frederick Emert in the 1700's who was an ancestor of mine (Rhonda). It has remained in the family ever since. We built Hoo's Looking Back in the summer of 2000 and have enjoyed meeting many of our guests over the last 13 years. In order to maintain a natural theme we tastefully decorated this cabin with owls. Hence the name 'Hoo's Looking Back'. We have also been owners of our own restaurants for all or most of our married life.

Odis or Rhonda Chambers purchased this cabin in 2000

Why Odis or Rhonda Chambers chose Gatlinburg

The outdoors and Great Smoky Mountains National Park and this area have always been a huge part of our lives. We have done some traveling and realized that we would like to provide a restful get-away for couples, such as we would enjoy when we travel.

What makes this cabin unique

This home is privately owned, cleaned and maintained by the owners. It is our belief that every guest deserves the same clean, well maintained surroundings that this cabin offers.

Perfect and Romantic!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is the perfect place for couples that need a relaxing getaway! We stayed here for our 7th anniversary and had everything we could ever ask for! Odis and Rhonda were so helpful, checking in with us the night of our arrival to let us know that snow was expected and we might want to stock up on groceries. We could have stayed in all weekend if we wanted and had all of the entertainment we needed. Everything was in great working order and we made use of it all during the snow storm, from the big screen tv (we brought some RedBox movies) to the pool table, from the basketball goal to the chess board, and of course the hot tub! This is the absolute CLEANEST cabin I have EVER stayed in! GREAT JOB!!! Everything, including the hot tub, was immaculate! I just can't say enough! I loved all the amazing little touches-from the guest book where you can leave a note, to all of the cute owls placed throughout to carry the theme. We got 6-7 inches of snow and it was gorgeous! The driveway is quite a hill, but someone did sweep it for us and if my car had been FWD, we probably could have made it up, but instead we parked at the bottom and walked it up once we ventured out in to town. I recommend this place to anyone! We will DEFINITELY be coming back again and again and I can't wait! Also, I don't know why there are a few reviews on here that mention no privacy-there aren't curtains on the windows, but there are blinds on any windows that would face any other cabins and there is PLENTY of privacy in this sweet cabin. I almost forgot to mention-the free breakfast is AMAZING!!! Don't miss out on this steal of a deal! What a great hidden gem in the Great Smokey Mountains!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your review! As we get older and aren't able to do all the cleaning and upkeep ourselves and must rely on others, it means so much to hear that our guests appreciate the amenities and cleanliness of our cabin. It is folks like you who keep us encouraged for the future of our efforts! We look forward to hosting you again! Sincerely, Rhonda and Odis

Wonderful

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful cabin, beautiful location. It feels secluded even with 2 other cabins close by. There is a fair amount of road noise but we had a radio and it took care of it. We grilled out and made use of the kitchen, it had everything we needed. The downstairs games were fun and we played them all. Check in and out was simple and quick. Would recommend to any couple for a special occasion.

Everything and more!

  • 5 of 5

We were visiting for my birthday! It was also my first time staying in a cabin. We were thoroughly impressed! It was a perfect getaway for a couple wanting to stay close to Gatlinburg but away from all the traffic from the tourist. Everything that we needed was supplied in the cabin! We will definitely be staying again!

My best friend of 35 years and I stayed at the cabin. We were glad there were 2 couches so that we had our own sleeping space and didn't have to fight over the bed! We really enjoyed the game room and relaxing in the hot tub out on the deck in the evenings was just percect! We spent more time at the cabin than we had planned to because it was so welcoming. We loved that everything was just a short drive away, while we were outside of the more populated area of Gatlinburg. It's close to what became our favorite mountain stream and not far at all from Mad Dog's where we had the best ice cream and donuts! Trish's Mountain Diner was very close as well, where they served up a really good meal that was surprisingly inexpensive. We were very pleased that towels, linens, dishes, and other items were provided; that makes packing to go so much easier! Overall we had a wonderful time and if we ever have time to return to the area, would definitely like to stay here again!
