Liberty Cottage is your home base in the Westside area of Santa Cruz. You will be staying just three short blocks from the West Cliff Drive Multi-Use Path overlooking Monterey Bay and the Pacific Ocean. The stroll to the Municipal Wharf, Main Beach, and Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is less than a mile. Choose to go the other direction and arrive at Natural Bridges State Park at about two miles. Be sure to stop by the lighthouse and its little surfing museum. Enjoy watching surfers and kayakers, observing wildlife, or taking in a spectacular sunset. Many local attractions can be reached on foot or by bicycle, Metro bus or the summertime trolley. A jaunt to UC Santa Cruz, the beach boardwalk, and downtown eateries, shops, or entertainment is easy.

The cottage can be used as a home base for trips to San Francisco or Big Sur and anywhere in between. The greater Santa Cruz area affords plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation and a variety of venues to learn about its natural wonders. For many, a day trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row is the highlight of their trip.

Continue to enjoy your beach getaway back at the cottage where the arrangement of the living/kitchen/dining areas provide a more open feeling than might be expected in a place this size. Enjoy comfortable seating for six in the living room, and if you choose, watch a show on the 55 inch UHD television. A contemporary gas fireplace warms the room on cold nights. The floor plan allows for easy interaction between the well equipped kitchen and adjacent areas. Four chairs and a bench seat six at the beautiful rustic dining table where guests can enjoy a view of the backyard.

The front of the cottage houses one bedroom with a double bed and a second bedroom with two extra long twin beds. Off the shared hallway is a bathroom with a tub/shower combo. A second hallway at the back of the house leads to a bedroom with a queen size bed and a separate bathroom, also entered through the hall, with a shower and double sinks. A laundry closet with a full size washer and dryer can be found in the back hallway too.

Professionally designed front and back yards provide respite from the day's activities: lounge in the California sun and listen to the beautiful fountains, enjoy a casual game of bocce, barbecue your favorite meal on the gas grill, share a meal al fresco, or cap off the evening around the fire pit with family or friends.

We grew up and still live just 'over the hill' in San Jose where Santa Cruz has always been known as a great place for a day trip or a longer get-away. It is our pleasure to share our home away from home with our guests.

Why Sheryl chose Santa Cruz

We chose this property because of its proximity to beaches, downtown Santa Cruz, the West Cliff pathway, the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, the Municipal Wharf, and UC Santa Cruz. Liberty Cottage is close enough to easily explore local attractions, many by walking, or retreat to a more peaceful place where the neighbors are locals.

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage was expanded, fully remodeled, and landscaped during a renovation from 2012 to early 2013. A bocce court, fire pit, and fountains make the backyard a great place to sit back and unwind after a day's outings.

Beautiful and conveniently located home in the heart of Santa Cruz

We had a wonderful stay at this property! Everything you could need for an enjoyable stay is at the Liberty house. It is conveniently located; we parked at the house and didn’t use the car for the rest of our stay. We walked to the Boardwalk and the Pier (about a mile away, but enjoyable walk along the ocean), ran along West Cliff in the mornings and really enjoyed the backyard in the afternoon and evenings around the fire pit. This is a very clean and relaxing home with all the things/amenities you would need at a home away from home. We hope to stay again in the future!

Perfect!

My friends and I were delighted to spend three nights here. The house was beautiful - simple yet elegant. Both indoor and outdoor spaces were inviting and functional. New, clean, comfortable. Bocce and fire pit (which we never had time to use) are pluses, as is the kitchen if one is inclined to cook, as well as the location. Book it!
