About the property

4 bedroom, 2 bathroom with Panoramic Lake Michigan Views

Civil-War era Home. The parlor features warm colors, a brick candlelight fireplace with two oak rockers, that very posh pool table and a Lake Michigan vista. The dining room is adorned with an early 20th century chandelier, a glass encased curio cabinet and a table for six. Lake Michigan also beckons from the patio doors that step out onto one of the three decks. This deck has a gas grill and ample seating space. A very open (sociable) kitchen has lots of counter space, dishwasher and an authentic (still operable) art deco toaster. Full baths are on each floor. The upper bath is all new with a skylight, glass shower, and a 1927 stained-glass window made in Chicago. All four bedrooms are upstairs and are carpeted. Each features an antique dresser. The central west BR has a window A/C and a queen-sized bed; the others have full-sized mattresses. The two east side BRs have balcony access and lake vistas. The balcony has four chairs and two glass-topped bistro tables. An upper-floor sitting/reading room opens onto a deck with views east (the lake), west (the setting sun), and north (Centerville Creek). Enjoy boating, hiking, biking, picnicking and sightseeing are all freely available nearby. World-class golf courses (Whistling Straits, Black Wolf Run and others) are just minutes/miles away. There are two lakeshore parks. Hika Bay Park is one block away and the other is one mile north on Lakeshore Road Cleveland boasts three reasonably priced restaurants: 'Rupps on Washington', 'The Hickory House' and 'Wildflower'. The 'Hika Bay Union House Tavern', 50 yards west of this home, is the oldest continually licensed Pub in the state of Wisconsin. Prost!

Wonderful Stay at Hika Bay

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful 3 night stay in this lovely house! Excellent furnishings and plenty of room. We even had one nice sunny day where we could cook on the grill, enjoy a fire in the fire pit, and walk along the lake shore. Highly recommended!

Both Comfortable and a Visual Delight

  • 5 of 5

My friends and family gathered at the Hika Bay Hideaway from two states for a reunion. Without exception everyone was awed by the superb restoration and decorating detail in this 150 year home. And when we were done looking at all the art on the walls and interesting books and artifacts, we turned our gaze to Lake Michigan.

Like others have written before me, this home is furnished with all the comforts of home. There was nothing better than sitting back on the enclosed front porch and rocking my "chairs" away.

We absolutely loved our stay here. The house is immaculately clean, well furnished, and decorated with a lot of neat historical photos. We were able to use the gas grill to grill burgers on one night of our stay and lit a fire in the fire pit. Be sure to visit the pub just down the street! Many in our party of 7 remarked several times during our stay here about how much we liked the house and would love to visit again. I highly recommend!

So happy we were able to enjoy this gem! Great spot - our 3 year old and 7 year old loved the house and the area. Check out Manitowoc's Lincoln Park Zoo. We were surprised by the Dairyland Festival - a great fest with food, drinks, and crafts. The house is perfect - loved the pool table, firepit, walking the lake and rock hunting. Check out Hika Bay Union House, Hickory House for scallops & schnitzel, steaks at Rupps, and breakfasts at Wildflower. And, oh! those stars! Look forward to coming back and highly recommend to everyone - thanks for a great vacation!

The quaintness of this particular property is second to none. The space was more than enough and it was excellent to entertain our friends and family that came for the day. The neighbors (Cliff) was a very kind man and we enjoyed a nice conversation with him. We also got to partake in the local fishing derby where we got to enjoy a Miesfelds double brat and some great local music. A must stay!!!
