About Owner/Manager

I was born and raised in the small town of Buffalo, WY. The only strangers were those that I had not met. Whenever we would travel, we would stay with family or friends. Rarely did we stay in a motel. A couple years ago, my daughter and I went to Alaska and planned on staying with an uncle. Plans got changed at the last minute, and a friend suggested I check into staying at a VRBO. I did, it was an awesome experience, and it was great for both my daughter and I . We not only saved on the cost of over noisy motels, we also saved on the cost of eating out all the time. We did our own cooking, and really enjoyed the time that we were able to share together. From then on, I have had the desire to make other's travel experiences as great as the ones my daughter and I did.

Let's be friends. Hope to see you soon. Happy and safe travels to you all, and if my place is not what you are looking for, there are many others in this area that might be. VRBO is how I want to go from now on. Thanks.

Owner/Manager purchased this house in 2010

Why Owner/Manager chose Wyoming

I bought this home in 2010. I looked at over 100 homes and there were things I liked or didn't like about each of them. When I walked in the front door of this home, it just felt like home. The more I saw of the home, the better I liked it, and I could feel my dream becoming to come true. I have been most content here than any other place I have lived, except the homestead place in Buffalo, WY.

What makes this house unique

I have nice views of the mountains in the front, a quiet neighborhood, wonderful neighbors, a fenced in yard in the back, 6 person hot tub (another dream come true) and the gift of hospitality.

We loved it.

We stayed for 2 nights in June 2017 at Neal's place in Cody, WY. The house was neat and clean with lots of amenities and perfect for our needs. We will most definitely consider this perfect house for our next trip to the area. Missing part was we could not meet Neal and Panda, may be next time. Overall It was a wonderful stay and enjoyed well.

Thanks Neal for sharing your place with us.

Great base camp for Cody WY adventures

  • 5 of 5

Spent 4 nights at "Neal's Place" and it worked out fantastic for us. Very comfy home and a great back yard to relax in. Gave us a place to take breaks when exploring Buffalo Bill Museums, farmers market, South Fork, Trail Town, Chief Joseph Highway and YNP travels. Kitchen has absolutely everything you'd need, sometimes 2 or 3 times what you need. At first it feels a bit overwhelming with the personal items, but that quickly is replace by a feeling of complete hospitality. Thank you so much Neal for opening up your home for us, trusting us, welcoming us, and provisioning us! Spent a lot of time in the great back yard around the patio table, enjoying a dog friendly set up, and a really nice yard (and friendly neighbor). Beds & rooms were comfy, and "services" (TV, Wi-Fi, local info, etc.) worked great. Takes a bit of negotiating on hot days, but balancing windows, fans and curtains to let the night time cool air in and keep the day time hot air out worked fine. We returned home rested, amazed and appreciative of Neal's generosity; we're absolutely happy/positive about our experience, and would highly recommend this VRBO.

Nothing is very far away in Cody. We came for a wedding and could see my sister's house from the front porch. Location is nice and quite. We will visit again.

Owner's Response: Hi Phillip, Thanks for your review. I found out after I returned that your sister Noma is friends on facebook with Kelsey Blake. She is married to my cousin Keegan. What a small world we live in and how our lives may intermingle without us even knowing about it. I had to look twice to see that you all had even been here. Thanks for leaving my home so clean. It is greatly appreciated and took very minimal time to get ready for my next guests. If you make it back this way, please keep me in mind for future stay. Thanks again for choosing Neal's place for your home away from home. Neal and Panda

It was a very clean HOME , not a resort property rental .

  • 5 of 5

When we arrived Sunday afternoon , 10-09-2016 , we were greeted by our host , Neal Straight , a very friendly gentleman who opened his home to us . His home was VERY clean , comfortable , and well organized , with everything in it's place . Neal has a dog , Panda , a well disciplined and clean , house pet , that Neal had shampooed prior to our arrival , [ I had mentioned in a phone conversation that I am somewhat allergic to pet hair ] .

The beds were clean and comfortable , bathrooms and linens all clean , and living room furnishings quite comfortable .

Overall , a very comfortable and QUIET stay , at a most reasonable cost .

Thank you Neal for your hospitality .

Owner's Response: Hi Dean Frank and Wally, It was a pleasure meeting you and I hope you were successful in your hunt. I was surprised when you left early. If I had known you were leaving early, I would have left your cleaning deposit with you before you left. My apologies for not getting it to you sooner.I got side tracked and totally forgot about getting it refunded to you Thanks for the review. It was also a reminder for me to get your deposit back to you. We hope to see you back again if you make it up this way. Neal and Panda

Great place to stay in Cody!

  • 5 of 5

Neal's Place was a great place to stay in Cody. We were greeted by Panda when we arrived and Neal had made sure everything we would need was ready. The place is clean and homey. It's amazing that Neal would open such a nice home up to guests. I only wish Neal had a home everywhere we traveled. If we return to Cody, this is where we will try to stay. Thanks for everything Neal.
