Rustic Oceanview Cottage on Acreage

Bedrooms Studio
Space 200 sq. ft.
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 - 3 nights

About the property

This idyllic cabin is set on a five acre property overlooking the Ganges Inlet. With blackberry bushes and fruit trees available for picking you are able to enjoy bounty from the property when in season.

A spacious deck runs along the front of the cabin providing the ideal location for outdoor meals no matter the weather thanks to the roof with several skylights.

Another deck overhangs the slope at the front of the property providing the perfect place for a coffee, if one of the multiple hammocks available are all taken.

If you enjoy outdoor cooking you can enjoy cooking over an open fire, or a gas BBQ.

Huge arbutus trees with their green and rust bark, firs and cedars populate the property, providing shade on a hot summers day.

This is primarily a summer cabin, though it can also be a cosy get-away in the winter - with a small wood stove and base board heaters. There is a long unpaved drive-way - tricky to negotiate without a 4 wheel drive if it should snow. The water has also been known to freeze if temperatures plummet well below zero for an extended period. Mostly our winter weather is quite mild - but there are some risks in more severe weather.

This cabin is not suitable for frail elderly, those intolerant of the odd visiting spider, or those who do not have sense of adventure and enjoyment of the outdoors.

Price seen on the site listing is in US dollars. The quote sent will be in Canadian dollars. Please note there is an additional cleaning fee per visit.

About Juliette Eberhard

Immigrants from South Africa, the owners live in nearby Mill Bay - and enjoy an active outdoor lifestyle - gardening, hiking and kayaking. Saltspring provides a prefect getaway from busy professional lives - to read, reflect, and get away from electronic media and demands of the 'real world'.

Why Juliette Eberhard chose British Columbia

When we first visited this property the long and winding driveway took us unexpectedly onto a ridge where we fell in love with the view, the spaciousness and the sense of being 'somewhere else' far away from it all.

What makes this cabin unique

Listening to the sounds of neighboring sheep and roosters complete the rural ambiance as you swing in the hammock reading a favourite book, overlooking the fantastic view.

Rustic and secluded

  • 5 of 5

This is our 3rd visit to this cabin. It's perfectly located overlooking the ocean. It's quiet and secluded and a perfect place to get away from it all. If you are looking for luxury, this isn't it, but it has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The bed in the loft is comfy with a great view, and although this might not be easy for everyone to access there is also a comfortable pull out sofa bed on the main level. There's a great covered deck for BBQing on, and a fire pit for those evenings sitting under the stars. We love this place.

a very nice spot!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed a few nights and found it suited our needs perfectly. Nicely situated with a great view and a sense of real solitude, yet close to town. Very cozy, made for pure relaxation, rustic with wood stove and no interference from the grid.

Beautiful and rustic snowy stay

  • 4 of 5

We had an absolutely lovely time in the cabin over a snowy weekend. The pipes had frozen, so we didn't have running water but it only added to the cosy and rustic environment. The cabin is beautifully situated, with a stunning view and secluded feeling. It was clean and well-maintained and we enjoyed lovely evenings by the fire.

We would definitely like to go back to Galilee in the summer time, it was fantastic!

Rustic and away from the crowds

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay here at this lovely little cabin. There were five adults there for a weekend. It was a bit squishy but it made the perfect getaway for our family. A weekend is never long enough here though. It's beautiful here in winter as well as summer. The cabin is rustic, but there's everything you need for a getaway to the peace and quiet. The views are spectacular! We will be back next year!
