A Piece of Heaven
We were debating whether or not to stay in a hotel and/or stay more towards the city. We are so glad we chose to do neither. This house is amazing!!! We loved the backyard and watching the sunset in the evening and the surfers at sunrise. When you are on the beach it is like having your own private beach. It's not crowded, the sand is nice, and the waves are perfect. The house had just enough space for the four of us, and our kids loved all the surfer decor. Getting into town was super simple and we came across a ton of smaller boutique type types. We are so glad that we chose the north shore as it didn't have the feel of the hustling city, and we could really get off the grid and relax.
Thank you for the use of the bogie boards, and snorkels. That is such a huge win and we made use of them daily. We practically had to drag our kids out of this house, as they wanted to stay forever.
Thank you for making our first trip to Hawaii one that we will always remember. We will definitely come back.
Clean, comfortable, right on the beach, beautiful views! It was all perfect!
We have traveled to the North Shore several times and this is without a doubt the best place to stay! The house was clean, comfortable, I loved the decor, and the air conditioning worked great! The backyard was gorgeous and we got great use out of it, loved the hammock as well! Ocean views with steps right down to the beach was a huge bonus and the beach access in the backyard rarely had anyone else out there so it felt very private, like our own little beach. Sunset beach was just a two minute walk along the beach, this is my favorite beach in the world and it was so great being so close to it. We walked to Ted's bakery every morning for breakfast, so yummy!! The upper patio was my favorite spot to relax and I loved the outdoor shower and foot rinse. We came with two little kids who were usually covered in sand so these were used quite a bit. Melissa was great, always willing to answer my questions and her response time was quick. The property manager was really sweet and friendly as well. They provide washer and dryer as well as beach chairs, sand toys, boogie boards and umbrellas! Being here felt magical and this is the only place I will stay in the future!
A Slice of North Shore Heaven
When my fiancée and I decided on Hawaiian for our long-delayed vacation, I did extensive research. What convinced us of Sunset Beach Bungalow was a combination of the gorgeous photos, excellent reviews, and the price.
We prefer a more adventurous vacation, one with the opportunity to hike, bike, snorkel, and indulge in our favorite: scuba diving. Since we spend so little time indoors, we’re not very fussy about the where we sleep at night. So given everything I’d learned about the unit, it looked just about right.
What it turned out to be was PERFECT!
Frankly, all the photos, owner descriptions, and reviews cannot do justice to this little slice of North Shore Heaven. The location is just about at the epicenter of the North Shore and within walking/biking distance all the beaches made famous in the movies. Sunset Beach is literally down a flight of stairs from the back yard, you simply cannot rent anything closer to the waves. Shopping, grocery, restaurants, and local nightlife are only a few minutes away by car.
Our favorite spot in the house was the rooftop deck which affords a view of Sunset Beach. It felt like we were living inside a post card. We spent almost every sunset up there, watching the surf and holding hands. (I know, so call me a goofy romantic.)
As promised on their website, there were free bikes, snorkeling gear (although we brought our own), washer/dryer, and the much-hyped “outdoor shower”. Trust me, use it once, and you’ll want to install one at home!
The kitchen was fully stocked with every possible pot/pan, cooking utensil, and tableware necessary to prepare a lavish meal. There were even a wide selection of spices in the pantry. But we were too anxious for adventure to spend too much time in the kitchen. Bathroom was a little tight, but still had a full bath, shower, sink, etc.
If you’re looking for a 5-Star establishment that caters to those born with a silver spoon in their mouths, this isn’t the place. But if you’re on a budget and look for natural beauty, genuine value, and a place you can be comfortable, I don’t believe you’ll find anything better on the North Shore.
Susan and I thoroughly enjoyed our week; and will cherish the memory forever.
Ideal Hawaiian vacation
I loved staying at this particular place because it embodies the iconic Hawaiian feel. Including a breath taking view, laid back atmosphere, and plenty of privacy to unwind. In my opinion the hustle bustle of Waikiki hails in comparison to the attitude of this North Shore gem! I look forward to revisiting. Aloha!
