A gem of a home away from home.
Giovanni was a gracious host. The apartment is lovely and located in a quiet corner of Trastevere, that is convenient to anything you might want. Everything was in perfect condition on the apartment and we enjoyed staying there tremendously. I would stay again if I return to Rome.
What a lucky find
I knew I wanted to stay in Trastevere during this visit to Rome. I was so lucky to find and choose to stay in La Scalea di Trastevere.
The location is very convenient for public transport, but if you want to, so many places are able to be reached on foot. (My pedometer worked overtime some days!) I found many interesting places to eat within a few minutes of the apartment, and the fresh food market in a nearby campo provided ingredients for the meals I prepared at home.
Giovanni was prompt in his communications before I arrived, and equally easy to reach if I had a question, during my stay. He spent ample time with me when I arrived, to ensure I knew how things worked in the apartment, and how to find the various shops, etc., in the neighbourhood.
His apartment is clean and well maintained and extremely well equipped for the people who rent it. Little touches such as electrical adaptors, a night light to guide your way to the bathroom and many cooking supplies were very welcome. Each of the two bedrooms had a generous supply of books! It was like having a personal library to browse through. I didn't have to buy coffee, olive oil, laundry and dish washing detergents, toilet paper, shampoo and shower gel. That was a pleasant surprise, after staying in many apartments in Italy over a 10 year period, and having to buy my own. The bottle of red wine he left was also appreciated.
The bed was very comfortable, with lovely crisp bed linen. Heavy shutters on the windows kept out external noise, except for the one night when Rome was celebrating its 2, 771st birthday!
The kitchen is quite small, but very well equipped for cooking and washing up. There is a dishwasher, which I never did use. I really loved the convection cook-top and wish I had one at home. The bathroom is also small, but has been well planned to utilise the available space. There was a reliable supply of hot water. My guest during the last week and I used the air-conditioners in our bedrooms a couple of days when it got quite warm. Our rooms were soon cool and comfortable for sleeping.
I guess you can tell I was happy have stayed in this apartment, and would certainly recommend it, and its owner, to anyone thinking of staying in Trastevere.
A little gem in Rome and a kind host
We loved just about everything this place offered: to begin with, the host is a lovely person who is exceptionally thoughtful and kind. He spent over an hour with us after we first arrived, going over maps and explaining things like how to buy a bus ticket. All the little details in the apartment reflected how considerate and thoughtful our host was. For example, he left a stack of useful guide books and several umbrellas for guests. He is also extremely responsive, replying promptly and in detail to s y concerns.. The place was immaculate and is in a great location, in a colorful lively neighborhood with easy access to all the main attractions.
Absolutely a great location, a beautiful apartment and a wonderful host!
The host of the property is superb - you really can’t ask for better. The apartment is clean, safe, and very well located. When we told people where we were staying, the immediate response was, ‘oh, that’s a great neighborhood’. The building has a manager that is always present taking care of items as necessary. We met several of the residents who were also very nice.
Great restaurants nearby, and a well stocked grocery store.
We walked everywhere, no taxi necessary, except for the Train Station and Airport.
The bottom line....if you rent this place, you will be glad you did!
a wonderful month in Trastevere
This is the 3rd time we have stayed in the Scalea di Trastevere and as always we have been very happy with the apartment and with Giovanni the owner.
The apartment is very conveniently located, close to everything you need, and Trastevere life. It is also located on a very quiet street.
We would for sure recommend this apartment to others.
Comfortable and spotless! The Trastvere location is excellent and Giovanni, the owner was helpfull!
When you stay here be sure to start your day with a capuchino down the street!
The apartment is located in the Trastevere district at the base of the Gianicolo hill in a quiet and calm area next to the Scalea del Tamburino. The apartment is a few meters away from Piazza San Cosimato and Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere. From here, you can enjoy a short walk trough the nice cobblestone streets of the Medieval Trastevere district and reach in 15-20 minutes some of the most famous city spots such as Campo Dei Fiori, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, the Colosseum and Piazza Venezia. If you want to reach the heart of Rome by tram, there is a tram stop at a short walking distance from the apartment. From here, the high frequency line 8 will get you until Largo di Torre Argentina and Piazza Venezia in 5 to 10 minutes.
