About owner

We have lived in Michigan for many years and have enjoyed all the activities it has to offer.

owner purchased this cottage in 2011

Why owner chose Brutus

We first discovered this popular area of Michigan many years ago. We enjoy it and frequently use our family cottage which is close by. It is our escape from the work and we love the tranquility and enjoy all kinds of water sports

We found this rental cottage close by and bought it several years ago. We renovated it and it is now proving to be a popular place to stay. Bring your boat, canoe, kayak and fishing gear and enjoy all that Burt lake has to offer.

What makes this cottage unique

Fishing, boating, swimming are some of the activities available. This cottage is close to Alanson, Pelleston, Petoskey, and Harbor Springs and Mackinaw City and all that this area has to offer.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"The cottage was great! Clean and comfortable and had all the needed accommodations. The weather was not as cooperative - rain and cooler than expected. Overall we had a great time, boating/tubing and lazing around. thanks so much for your hospitality."

"I had a great time here! I love my bedroom with twin bunk beds. the cottage is a pretty place to be for the week.. I hope every family thinks so!"

Very nice cottage setting on a great location on the lake.

Had a wonderful time. Cottage was very comfortable, perhaps one of the nicest I have rented over the past 30 years. Rural area yet close to towns and activities if you choose to leave the peace and quiet.

A perfect getaway spot.

  • 5 of 5

The cabin greatly exceeded our expectations. It clean and very comfortable with all the necessary amenities. Location is ideal - beautiful unobstructed view of lake and easy drive to shopping, restaurants and golf. The lake is great - particularly for kids. It is quite shallow for a good 30 yards out into the lake with a nice soft sandy bottom making it a great area to splash around that is also well protected from boats.

The home is equipped with satellite TV and has pretty decent cell phone (AT&T) reception. More than enough for easy phone calls and also more than adequate for internet access.

We enjoyed our time on the deck and BBQed on a couple of occasions. The owners even sent one of their grandchildren by to drop off a new grill brush when I left a message that I couldn't find one with the grill.

The owners are great. While I didn't get to meet them in person they were wonderful to deal with, immediately responsive to any requests or questions we had.

We will definitely be going back for Summer of 2019 once we pick our dates.

Great week

  • 5 of 5

We love the location because it’s right on the water for boating and close to many towns that are fun for sunless days. The cottage was the perfect size for our family of four. Each couple had a bedroom and bathroom. The setting is calm and quiet and the view is spectacular.

Great little cottage on a beautiful lake!

  • 5 of 5

This place is such a cute, comfortable cottage with a great location! It is easy access from Rt. 75 which gets you to the UP in 30 minutes. The lake was quiet and so peaceful and the cottage itself has all the comforts of home! We loved it and didn't want to leave!
