This lovely cottage sits right on the inter-coastal waterway (also known as the Beaufort River), and is located in a friendly, safe neighborhood in Port Royal Landing. Low country charm surrounds this bright and comfortable cottage, making it a wonderful retreat.

After a good night's sleep in the master bedroom boasting a comfortable king-size bed, TV, full bath and walk-in closet, you can step out the sliding patio door or the French door off the sunroom to enjoy your morning coffee on the back deck where you can relax and watch boats or catch a glimpse of dolphins, pelicans and other marine life.

About Steve or Valerie

We plan to make this cottage our retirement home. We fell in love with this home the moment we walked in and seen it. It truly is a dream come true. We rented here in this neighborhood for several years. A wonderful place to live with exceptional neighbors.

Steve or Valerie purchased this cottage in 2012

Why Steve or Valerie chose Beaufort

Beautiful view. A quaint cottage for us to retire in, fulfilling our dream of being near the water. I guess we would have to say the southern charm won us over. The beautiful views and gorgeous sun rises. We get to see dolphins playing right off our back deck. What more could you ask for. Our favorite spot is Hunting Island, the beach and views are breathtaking. Hunting Island State Park also has a wonderful pier to go out on, past the beach and a boardwalk walking area over the marsh. Restaurants are fabulous all around us, nice bike trail, and walking paths. WMCA right in Port Royal that guests have taken advantage of.

What makes this cottage unique

Fun one day excursions you can take, going just 5 minutes away to Beaufort, 15 minutes Hunting Island State Park, Carriage Buggy & Boat rides out of Beaufort, you can be in Savannah, Charleston, Bluffton, Hilton Head, within 1. Old Town Bluffton is neat to see along with the May River. Palmetto Bluff is a great place to see also, go to Buffalos for breakfast or lunch, and enjoy the gorgeous homes and Inn, the Church is so beautiful.

Beautiful cottage with a gorgeous view!

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at Sea Glass Cottage Aug. 6-13, 2016 and enjoyed every minute there. The cottage is adorable, beautifully furnished and decorated. I especially enjoyed the deck that runs across the master bedroom and living room with views of the Beaufort River. The morning sunrise was gorgeous! The cottage had everything I needed (although I didn't cook at all). The location of the cottage is perfect for day trips to Hilton Head, Charleston, and Savannah. The owners, Steve and Valerie, were perfect hosts, quickly responding to any questions I had about my stay. Highly recommended!

Didn't want to leave Sea Glass and can't wait to go back!

  • 5 of 5

Valerie and Steve, Ron and I so enjoyed our week at SeaGlass! What an awesome cottage! From the minute we turned into your neighborhood and even better saw your adorable cottage, I was in love! The location is amazing! And the interior of Sea Glass couldn't be more perfect, from the beautiful local art to the painted wood floors(shiplap, I believe?) to the VIEWS! The furniture and beds are very comfortable also. We enjoyed sitting out on the deck, watching the boats, dolphins and sea birds....a beautiful, relaxing view watching the tides going out and coming in!

We had a bit of a problem with tv service upon arrival, and we appreciated Steve promptly taking care of it for us.

Beaufort is one of my favorite areas to visit, think I would like to live there, but for now we know where we will stay for future visits!

Oh, Val and Steve, almost forgot to thank y'all for the beautifully wrapped gift! We have now found our new favorite wine!

very disappointing and unfortunate circumstances

  • 1 of 5

Well we had a very unfortunate situation we had booked the house for our sons graduation from Marine Boot camp early on. His graduation was set for October 14 so we booked for the week of the 9-15 of October. Well as it so happened that Hurricane Matthew decided to hit the area that Saturday the 9 we had started down to Port Royal and the house had no power and the area was hit pretty hard so we had to stay in motels and wait yo get in to Beaufort and port royal. So finally we got in on Tuesday the 12 and the house still had no power so we got lucky and got a motel we finally got to the house on Thursday late afternoon it was disappointing to find it not cleaned and stuff in the fridge was still not thrown out we definitely was not happy with the no refund policy the owners had even though it was not due to there fault our ours about the Hurricane but we had paid good money to rent a home and had to stay in motels for 5 nights so it wss a very expensive trip luckily we had taken the insurance out and i am now battling to get this portion refunded to me but it has limits and several hoops to jump through to get refunded. The house is nice and under other circumstances it would be great to stay but definitely take the insurance and dont count on much help from the owner on things since they dont live in the area and count on Neighbors to help (the neighbors are wonderful and are truly helpful and nice neighborhood) we spent a few hours cleaning since they didnt have it cleaned and we did not get a fefund on the cleaning fee which i feel was the least they could do the neighbors was shocked that we was not partially refunded as another house 2 doors down was rented and that owner refunded the quest no question due to the Hurricane and unfortunate circumstances. But we seen our son graduate and that made everything worth it next time i will rent the house 2 doors down and definitely a great area to visit. So basically we spent more money and the owners profited fully off us even though Hurricane Matthew was the cause just something i could never do in these circumstances but thats just my true opinion

Owner's Response: This was an extraordinary circumstance, on Wed Oct 5 the Governor of South Carolina declared a mandatory evacuation of the coastal areas. This was 4 days prior to Cindy and Brian's stay, they decided to come anyway knowing a hurricane was coming due to arrive Sat. morning. Our cottage was without power and water until Thursday the 13th but they insisted on coming anyway hoping the electric would be restored. Our place was cleaned by a reputable company, they did this without electric so they could stay. The couple was fully aware of the situation and the husband assured me that it did not have to be perfect, he understood. We answered every phone and email promptly. We have never had a bad review, had I thought we didn't do everything we could in the situation I could accept this review.

Beautiful Beaufort!

  • 5 of 5

Dear Steve and Valerie, Thank you so much for sharing your darling SEA GLASS COTTAGE. Everything was inviting and made us feel very at home. The location is perfect and we enjoyed watching every sunrise in the morning from the deck, totally awesome. We watched the dolphins play like a private performance happening just for our viewing and experienced a double rainbow after a quick rain shower, all from your deck. We love Beaufort and every year we visit we find more things to love. The neighborhood at the marina is everything you could ask for as are the neighbors who are all so friendly. True southern charm thru and thru. We hope that the cottage will be available next year when we come back for a visit. Mary Ann and Ed LaGrange, Kentucky (9-17-16 thru 9-24-16)

Sea Glass Cottage Visit

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sea Glass Cottage. We were pleasantly surprised when we drove into Port Royal Landing and found this quaint area with all these cottages. Ours overlooked the Beaufort River and Port Royal Marina. We'd sit out on the deck and enjoy the boats going by, the occasional dolphin and a hawk that seemed to like to fish in front of us.

The house was equipped with everything we needed. It was clean and comfortable. All towels, bedding and cooking utensils were provided.

The Beaufort/Port Royal area is a nice quiet get away. Beaufort is a mini version of Charleston, but without the crowds and traffic. The waterfront walkway/promenade was beautiful. We did the carriage and boat tours. Both were interesting. Spent time relaxing at the Sands beach in Port Royal. The local restaurant were good.

If we come back to the Beaufort/Port Royal area, we definitely consider coming back to the Sea Glass Cottage.
