About Lasinda McDaniel
We are the McDaniel family from the suburbs of Washington, D.C. My husband grew up in Georgia and I grew up in Alabama. We vacationed with our families on the Gulf growing up. It has always been a dream of ours to own our own beach home on the panhandle of Florida. There quite simply is no other beach that compares. We visited the Cape San Blas area a few years ago and fell in love with the uncrowded beaches and abundant wildlife and natural beauty. We knew then that this is the place we would live someday. We are so thankful our three children will grow up making memories here at the beach. We are happy to share this place with you and your family.
Lasinda McDaniel purchased this Townhome in 2013
Why Lasinda McDaniel chose Port St. Joe
We chose this beach home because of the beautiful quite area. And, we loved the idea of having a home located between the historic towns of Port Saint Joe and Apalachicola.
What makes this Townhome unique
Our beach home is located directly on the Gulf.....beautiful views and uncrowded beaches...and a Gulf front pool shared by only twelve homes. Our home and beach are dog friendly :)

We had a great time! The weather was perfect and all the neighbors were very sweet and helpful
Make sure u go the Indiana pass, the sea food was great and they had karaoke on Thursdays and Fridays, and a live band on Saturday
Liked having the pool, first floor level living directly to the beach
Liked the quiet secluded area and the ability to bring our dog along. Would like to stay longer next year. Thank You

absolutely stunning sunrises and sunsets at this perfect location on the gulf. hundreds of different kinds of seashells to be collected! crabs in the canal were fun to catch.only steps to the water. the townhouse was a little dated but we are not into fancy. oh and we caught whiting while shore fishing. would come here again!!!!
An amazing vacation!
Even though a hurricane postponed our vacation a day, we had a wonderful time! The owner was always keeping us up to date! Loved the view and easy access to the beach. The sunsets we beautiful each night. We even saw a bald eagle in the tree behind the condo! Went kayaking at Happy Ours with turtles surfacing around us. Thank you for a great vacation!
Old cover photo, more recent photos needed
First let me preface this review:I've rented many times over the years on VRBO never lost a deposit or had any complaints from the owners, try to keep my expectations reasonable as photos can at times be old,the description needs updating.I choose based on location which sometimes can be hit or miss(kinda like buying on Amazon).the condo was a bit dated but clean with a few small yet noticeable exceptions(in all fairness I'm no clean freak but do maintain a two dog home with all white linens, bedding and towels so I do have a high standard)no detectable smell of previous doggies.Kitchen well stocked and clean(need new coffee maker ,it works just old with a rusty warming plate but other appliances newish),yes there are many beach chairs and an umbrella or 2.To get to the beach from back yard you'd have to maneuver down a fairly steep drop off 3ft to a small beach approx 20'x10',wade through bayou to get to the beach or walk out front door across parking lot then thru 2 neighboring homes' yards to cross a bridge, cross sand dunes. As for the beach white sand very densely compacted, not soft, vehicles often drive this stretch(they allow not just ATVs but trucks/cars like Daytona beach). The water isn't blue, more murkish brown due to the bayou.Restaurants or other outings are few.You can go horseback riding or cayaking, but little else. Its no PCB.If PCB is the Redneck riviera, then this must be the backwoods Daytona(yes I've been there and this beach is near comparison, flat and compacted, with less nearby to do).In summary,if you don't mind a challenging trek to get to the beach of a beach front condo and plan to mostly cook on vacation, don't mind the aforementioned then this is your place. The owners can't change the beach/bayou or the surrounding area,no blame on them their condo gets an B+A- rating,,location D+/maybe a C.Just want future renters to know what I didn't before I paid for rental.pros and cons.ps they told me "the bayou constantly changes" but left out the finer details and no new photos when requested.
It is a bit unfair for this reviewer to rate our place 2-star when she considers it a "B+ or A-"(her words). It is like going to smalltown USA and expecting to be in NYC. We have a 5-star average review rating for a reason. We have guests who return annually. Our place is booked around 45 wks/year..it is very popular. It seems to me that this reviewer wasn't familiar with the “Forgotten Coast.” I would advise anyone before booking to do your homework on the area to which you will be traveling. The Cape San Blas/Indian Pass area is a beautifully natural and rural area. There are no high-rise condos, goofy golf, go-carts, theatres, etc. If that is the sort of place you are looking for..this is not the place for you. This area is uncrowded and quiet with beautiful unspoiled beaches and lots of wildlife. There are no concrete canals for storm drainage or beach grooming machines running all night. Nature simply does it’s thing. The area is quite special and unique. It truly is one of the only remaining “natural beaches” left on either coast of Florida. Here, you can still take your pets for walks on the beach and build a bonfire at night right on the beach. It is not comparable to Daytona. Only permitted vehicles are allowed on the beach. Very few have these permits. You may see 2 cars on the beach in a week. Compacted sand and "murky" water while this guest was there was because they arrived between Hurricanes Maria and Nate. There had been extremely tides, wind, and storm drainage. The beach is like any on the panhandle. There are several very good restaurants within 15 min. I always advise our future guests of the potential access conditions weeks before their arrival. Most often, the bayou does not affect beach access. When it does affect access, the walk to the beach via the bridge is 5 min..this is not a challenging walk. The conditions change within a matter of hours depending on rain, wind, and tides. It is nature after all. I truly care about our guests and do everything I can to assure their stay is a good one. I think this is evident in our previous reviews. I must say, I have never encountered a guest like this one. After attempting to get me to allow them to stay for free all week, they returned home and asked for money in exchange for a positive review. I will never buy a review. My suggestion is to compare all our recent reviews to this one.
Peaceful and just perfect
We loved the condo. It was well stocked in the kitchen and with beach goodies like chairs and umbrellas. The bayou was the best part of our stay. We kayaked it one day and saw a small gator. A bald eagle landed by it the first morning. It was loaded with blue crabs, which we enjoyed catching and having for dinner! Although I thought the sofa looked uncomfortable, it proved me wrong. It was a really comfortable spot for a nap in the hot part of the afternoon. There were only 3 other condos occupied while we were there, and it was all adults and dogs, which we loved. Being a good 15 mins from town, and there not being much aside from restaurants there, meant that we spent most of our time on the beach and in the pool. Zero complaints though. It was the most relaxing time we've had on vacation. Plenty of spots to kayak, peace and quiet, and a great raw bar 1.4 miles away. So in summary, we were delighted with our stay!
Our beach home is conveniently located between the historic towns of Port St. Joe to the West and Appalachacola to the East
