Property description

To welcome travellers is an historical property recently renovated, features wi-fi and A/C and is fitted with antique furnishing and Vietri style tiles in all rooms. It is very conveniently located and accessible. Situated on a lush landscaped hillside its architectonic style dates to the baroque age featuring vaulted ceilings on both floors. From the balcony one can enjoy an amazing view of the ocean and the surrounding coastal area and can even get to see on some days the Salerno peninsula. The property sleeps 4 but at request can sleep up to 6 people. Two extra beds can be added and there is also a sofa bed which can be transformed into a king bed at the main floor before the fireplace. From the balcony and the windows the horizon can be seen as your mesmerizing view especially at dawn and at sunset letting travelers forget past, present and maybe even future while lulled by the breeze. The whole is landscaped by the unique ever changing colours of the Positano maritime vegetation and ocean. An absolute benefit which this choice provides for travelers from around the world is definitely its very close and easy proximity to two Sita bus stops. What visitors unfamiliar with the area are unaware of is the fact that getting to Positano first and getting to the hotel/accomodation one has booked through the internet are two relatively different things. Arriving to Positano and travelling by and for Positano to other nearby attractions by Sita Bus is the most affordable option. Taxi is very expensive, ferries drop you on the beach which requires one to walk uphill. The majority among hotels, various resorts and also private rental villas, houses are not an easy reach and often require tourists to painstakingly walk through ramps of stairs. The benefit of this choice is that the main road and the Sita bus stop are connected by a flat lane just 2/3 minutes walking distance from the property. This is also noteworthy to be mentioned if one plans an arrival by taxi or if one plans a vacation made of day trips to the nearby cultural sites such as Pompei, Ercolano, Ravello, Amalfi, Paestum etc.. . Just a few minutes away there is Bar Bruno restaurant which is one of the best sea food menus of Positano and there is also Bar Li Galli. The beach is only a 10 minutes walking distance where there are more restaurants cafes discos etc. For those who instead prefer a at home dinner a grocery store with even any kind of organic foods, veggies and cheeses from the area is just also a few minutes away. Added to that is the welcoming, sociable and cordial attitude of the local people which will contribute to the uniqueness of the holiday. For the next day to mention is that beach towels are provided. Spend part of the day there, swimming, snorkeling, canoeing, boating are the most common activities and you're right across from Galli Islands. For those who prefer a different type of vacation just a few minutes away by walk there are the bus stops of Sita and Interno Positano to reach Pompei, Ercolano, Amalfi etc.. But if one wants to pay a visit to something very interesting, just a few meters by the villa there is the old S.Giacomo church dating back to the XI century and which features amazing medieval frescos. In the night while gazing at the starry sky the ever present soft breeze and the experience of scent combining fragrant foliage and sea air will add to the enjoyment.

A wonderful hideaway, romantic retreat or honeymoon spot.

This is a NON SMOKING Villa Environment.

Positano is located in the heart of the Amalfi Coast, in the region of Campania in the southern part of Italy. The Costiera Amalfitana, is a breathtaking 25-mile stretch along the edge of the Sorrentine Peninsula in southern Italy. It features jagged cliffs with sheer 500-foot drops down to the Mediterranean sea and a number of small Italian villages that seem to have been carved into the cliff side. Positano sits amidst the towns Amalfi, Sorrento and Praiano which are all filled with white-washed villas clinging to rocky ledges. The towns are in such close proximity to each other that it's quite possible to visit all of them within a few days, but if you have more time, the Amalfi Coast is a spectacular place to linger. In Positano you can relax on the beach, enjoy the lively town centre filled with beautiful shops, restaurants and abundant nightlife, or you can cruise the breath taking coastline by boat taking in the Emerald Grotta, the Scoglio Germano, stopping at any of the beautiful beaches that dot the crystal waters.

On the way back from the beach you can stop visit the medieval Cripta giving also a look at the ancient Frescos from a roman villa which are both underneath the Chiesa Parrocchiale.

Exploring the area by foot, the mountains along the Amalfi Coast have a hidden and little known network of public footpaths and long stairs criss- crossing the lemon terraces. From the apex of Positano at Montepertuso, you will be able to walk to Santa Maria, a small church high up, and back down to Positano. This will give you stunning views down the coast featuring Capri, Positano and the sea.

For those who wish to journey farther afield and who enjoy history, spectacular Pompeii is only 50kms away and luxury towns rich in ancient history such as Ravello and Capri, with it's legendary Blue Grotta, are a short distance away by car/boat.

Whether you enjoy a beach vacation, meandering in charming villages, hiking in the mountains, or taking in incredible historical excursions, Positano truly has it all.

Why Positano SA, Italy:
The property is one of the oldest of Positano, it is even shown on the 17th century map featured on the cover of "History of the city of Positano" by Giuseppe Vespoli published in the 60 '. Last year and during this last century it has undergone major renovations involving a total remaking of the exterior and interior walls and facades. It features a very unique architectonic style characteristic of the area specifically if one looks at the high vaulted ceilings. It was presumably built in the baroque age around the mid 17th century along with a few other villas when for Positano it was an era of huge commercial success. According to someone though it is even older than time, however what is certain is that before being converted into a house, in ancient times this building stored a system of cisterns used to collect water. Nowadays Villa Matilde is looking to welcome everyone that wants to spend a memorable vacation in Positano.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
One unique benefit which this choice provides for travelers from around the world is definitely its very close proximity to every bus stops in particular the Sita . This needs to be considered especially if one plans a vacation made of day trips to the nearby cultural sites such as Pompei, Ercolano, Ravello, Amalfi, Paestum etc.. And also this needs to be taken into account if one plans to arrive either by bus, which is the most affordable way to get to Positano or either by taxi if one wants to afford it. The majority among hotels, various resorts and also private rental villas are not an easy reach and often require tourists to painstakingly walk through ramps of stairs. To welcome travellers is a villa fitted with antique furnishing in particular it s worth mentioning the old Vietri style tiles which décor all the rooms. At the main floor there is a fireplace, a couch which can be transformed into a king bed, at the superior floor there is a master bedroom which features a king bed, in the living room there are two chairs and a Luigi Filippo Style couch. One more single bed can be set up upon request. Just a few minutes away there is Bar Bruno restaurant which is one of the best sea food menus of Positano and there is also Bar Li Galli. The beach is only a 10 minutes walking distance and there there also restaurants cafes discos etc. For those who instead prefer a at home dinner a grocery store with even any kind of organic foods, veggies and cheeses from the area is just also a few minutes away. Added to that is the welcoming, sociable and cordial attitude of the local people which will contribute to the uniqueness of the holiday.
