Overview

About the property

A great choice for a very special holiday, free wi-fi, A/C, easily accessible

To welcome travellers is an historical property recently renovated free WI-FI, A/C in each room satellite TV. It is fitted with antiques and Vietri style tiles in all rooms. It is very conveniently located and accessible. Situated on a lush landscaped hillside its architectonic style dates to the 17th century featuring vaulted ceilings on both floors. From the balcony one can enjoy an amazing view of the ocean and the surrounding coastal area and can even get to see on some days the Salerno peninsula. The property sleeps 4 but at request can sleep up to 6 people. There are three bathrooms. Two extra beds can be added and there is also a sofa bed which can be transformed into a king bed at the main floor before the fireplace. From the balcony and the windows the horizon can be seen as your mesmerizing view especially at dawn and at sunset letting travelers forget past, present and maybe even future while lulled by the breeze. The whole is landscaped by the unique ever changing colours of the Positano maritime vegetation and ocean. An absolute benefit which this choice provides for travelers from around the world is definitely its very close and easy proximity to two Sita bus stops. What visitors unfamiliar with the area are unaware of is the fact that getting to Positano first and getting to the hotel/accomodation one has booked through the internet are two relatively different things. Arriving to Positano and travelling by and for Positano to other nearby attractions by Sita Bus is the most affordable option. Taxi is an excellent choice while ferries drop you on the beach which requires one to walk uphill. The majority among hotels, various resorts and also private rental villas, houses are not an easy reach and often require tourists to painstakingly walk through ramps of stairs. The benefit of this choice is that the main road and the Sita bus stop are connected by a flat lane just 2/3 minutes walking distance from the property. This is also noteworthy to be mentioned if one plans an arrival by taxi or if one plans a vacation made of day trips to the nearby cultural sites such as Pompei, Ercolano, Ravello, Amalfi, Paestum etc.. . Just a few minutes away there is Bar Bruno restaurant which is one of the best sea food menus of Positano and there is also Bar Li Galli. The beach is only a 10 minutes walking distance where there are more restaurants cafes discos etc. For those who instead prefer a at home dinner a grocery store with even any kind of organic foods, veggies and cheeses from the area is just also a few minutes away. Added to that is the welcoming, sociable and cordial attitude of the local people which will contribute to the uniqueness of the holiday. For the next day to mention is that beach towels are provided. Spend part of the day there, swimming, snorkeling, canoeing, boating are the most common activities and you're right across from Galli Islands. For those who prefer a different type of vacation just a few minutes away by walk there are the bus stops of Sita and Interno Positano to reach Pompei, Ercolano, Amalfi etc.. But if one wants to pay a visit to something very interesting, just a few meters by the villa there is the old S.Giacomo church dating back to the XI century and which features amazing medieval frescos. In the night while gazing at the starry sky the ever present soft breeze and the experience of scent combining fragrant foliage and sea air will add to the enjoyment.

This is a NON SMOKING Villa Environment.

About Property Manager/Owner

A lawyer, a journalist with a great passion for history art books and travel

I am looking forward to meet you !

P

Property Manager/Owner purchased this villa in 1970

Why Property Manager/Owner chose Positano

It features a very unique architectonic style characteristic of the baroque age specifically if one looks at the high vaulted ceilings dating to the 17th century. The property is one of the oldest of Positano is even shown on the 17th century map featured on the cover of "History of the city of Positano" by Giuseppe Vespoli published in the 60 '. As per historical accounts Ms Marquis De Chantelois spent the last years of his life widow after her husband General of Charles III king of Naples died in battle. But according to someone though it is even older , however what is certain is that before being converted into a house, in ancient times it stored a system of cisterns used to collect water. Nowadays we' re looking to welcome everyone that wants to spend a memorable vacation in Positano..

What makes this villa unique

Meeting point where we usually greet our guests is via Marconi 75 by the Sita and interno positano bus stops. This choice provides for travelers from around the world is definitely its very close proximity to every bus stops in particular the local internal navette and Sita . This is noteworthy to be mentioned especially if one plans a vacation made of day trips to the nearby cultural sites such as Pompei, Ercolano, Ravello, Amalfi, Paestum etc.. And also this needs to be taken into account if one plans to arrive either by bus, which is the most affordable way to get to Positano or either by taxi if one plans to. The majority among hotels, various resorts and also private rental villas are not an easy reach and often require tourists to painstakingly walk through ramps of stairs. At the main floor there is a fireplace remembrance of the old times, a couch which can be transformed into a king bed, at the superior floor there is a master bedroom which features a king bed, in the living room there are two chairs and a Luigi Filippo style couch. Two more single beds can be set up upon request. Just a few minutes away there is Bar Bruno restaurant which is one of the best sea food menus of Positano and there is also Bar Li Galli. The beach is only a 10 minutes walking distance and there there also restaurants cafes discos etc. For those who instead prefer a at home dinner a grocery store with even any kind of organic foods, veggies and cheeses from the area is just also a few minutes away. Added to that is the welcoming, sociable and cordial attitude of the local people which will contribute to the uniqueness of the holiday.

We arrived late night and we were welcomed by Pascal one of the managers in an elegant, neat, fine house in a very peaceful athmosphere. In the morning we had the great surprise of being awaken by strong sun rays and such a beautiful view. The villa is very charming we were absolutely satisfied, strong AC in all the rooms satellite TV . Manager was always available for anything we needed.

Just Amaziiiing

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful property soared way far above our expectations. Manager and his assistant were so nice giving us a very warm welcoming with a massive bowl of fruit on the kitchen table and explained and gave all the information and directions we needed for our staying.

An amazing terrace, interiors very finely renovated and it is norteworthy to mention a space that allowed 3 couples to each have their own space and privacy.

Very worth !!

  • 5 of 5

Pictures say it all rooms are very comfortable and nicely appointed we had a very fun cooking class with Maria our first day. We cooked in several nights trying to match Maria’s cooking . One night at the Ravello Music Festival was magical manager arranged for us limo services back and for naples airport as our daily boat trip to Capri. Description will never render the idea. We very recommend it .

Comfortable small house in convenient location with a view

  • 4 of 5

I stayed at the house for a week with a friend and found it pretty and well-maintained, as shown in the pictures. A good base for 2 or 3 people to explore and enjoy Positano.

Visitors should be aware of the special characteristics of this old structure which is built up along a cliffside overlooking the city. The small table in the sitting/dining room on the ground floor next to the kitchen can at most be used by 3 people at a time. The house has a proper bedroom on the upper floor with privacy and a private bath with shower, washer and drier. Also on the upper floor is a larger room which most visitors might consider a living room. It has a French balcony with a view, a sofabed that can accommodate 1 or 2 persons and an en-suite bathroom with shower, but visitors using the proper bedroom must walk through this space, so there no full privacy.

The location of the house is convenient as it is near the main road with two stops of the local "Interno Positano" bus within a walk of about 200 meters. The "Interno Positano" bus runs all day with 30-minute intervals and will take you near most sites in the city. Visitors with mobility issues should be aware that from the nearest bus stop one must walk up about 40 steps on a small path to reach the house.

We were able to find all ingredients we needed for cooking in a mini-market and a vegetable store which are right next to the above mentioned bus stop. Positano seems to have many tourist traps for dining. We followed the owner's recommendation to go to Bruno's Restaurant on Via Christoforo Colombo. It specializes in seafood and everything we tried there was delicious and with good value, so we kept returning there for lunch or dinner. Some of their tables are outdoors with a view over the city and the ocean. To get there from the house one can walk down a long stairway and then along the street (perhaps 500 m) or one can take the Interno Positano bus.

Positano is located in the heart of the Amalfi Coast, in the region of Campania in the southern part of Italy. The Costiera Amalfitana, is a breathtaking 25-mile stretch along the edge of the Sorrentine Peninsula in southern Italy. It features jagged cliffs with sheer 500-foot drops down to the Mediterranean sea and a number of small Italian villages that seem to have been carved into the cliff side. Positano sits amidst the towns Amalfi, Sorrento and Praiano which are all filled with white-washed villas clinging to rocky ledges. The towns are in such close proximity to each other that it's quite possible to visit all of them within a few days, but if you have more time, the Amalfi Coast is a spectacular place to linger. In Positano you can relax on the beach, enjoy the lively town centre filled with beautiful shops, restaurants and abundant nightlife, or you can cruise the breath taking coastline by boat taking in the Emerald Grotta, the Scoglio Germano, stopping at any of the beautiful beaches that dot the crystal waters.

On the way back from the beach you can stop visit the medieval Cripta giving also a look at the ancient Frescos from a roman villa which are both underneath the Chiesa Parrocchiale.

Exploring the area by foot, the mountains along the Amalfi Coast have a hidden and little known network of public footpaths and long stairs criss- crossing the lemon terraces. From the apex of Positano at Montepertuso, you will be able to walk to Santa Maria, a small church high up, and back down to Positano. This will give you stunning views down the coast featuring Capri, Positano and the sea.

For those who wish to journey farther afield and who enjoy history, spectacular Pompeii is only 50kms away and luxury towns rich in ancient history such as Ravello and Capri, with it's legendary Blue Grotta, are a short distance away by car/boat.

Whether you enjoy a beach vacation, meandering in charming villages, hiking in the mountains, or taking in incredible historical excursions, Positano truly has it all.
