About Michelle S.
A scholar and director of an arts and humanities center, I reside in Connecticut with my family and my dog. The Berkshires are my sanctuary from the bustle of twenty-first century quotidian life.
Michelle S. purchased this House in 2011
Why Michelle S. chose South Lee
The Berkshires have always been sacred to me and my family, and we are grateful not only to enjoy this unique site, but also to share its natural beauty and cultural merits with visitors.
What makes this House unique
From the moment that I see the sign Brady's retreat and turn into the drive, my quotidian concerns dissipate and I smile at the thought of evenings by the fire pit or afternoons curled up on the sun porch with an Edith Wharton novel.

Spacious, comfortable, private and beautiful
The house was perfect for our small family reunion. It has large open living areas that allowed us all to be together without being on top of each other. The pool table and ping pong table provided great family fun. The views from the house across meadows with mountains behind are really beautiful. The bedrooms and bathrooms are well placed for privacy. The grounds are beautifully maintained and the firepit is a nice feature. Communication with the owner was excellent. We really enjoyed our time here.
We enjoyed the house and it’s in a great location. However 3 out of the 4 bedrooms do not have A/C which made it unpleasant on hot muggy nights. There were definitely some lovely touches with nice dishes and the kitchen was fun to cook in. May I suggest some dish towels and washcloths be added and instructions for operating the tv! We older folks are not so technically savvy! Loved the screened in porch too.
Beautiful house in a quiet and convenient location
Our family really enjoyed our stay at this house for our summer vacation in the Berkshires! The house is beautiful with a screened back porch and also an open portion of the back porch. The fire pit is great and there is a short trail to explore the field and woods behind the property. The house is in a very quiet and semi-secluded area (you can only see 1 neighbor’s house across the street), but only a short drive to the grocery store and restaurants in downtown Lee.
Better than my high expectations
I had my family staying there for my daughter's wedding. I live across the street and I have been wondering how the house looked like. In one word: fantastic! excellent spaces, view and service.
Highly recommended, we have plans to rent it many times more!
We had a perfect stay at the Brady retreat. It was our 50th anniversary and our family joined us there. We had 3 grand children and their parents and this four bedroom house plus one loft bed accommodated us perfectly. The house is so spacious and a porch and great yard are wonderfully inviting. We couldn't have been happier. August 2017
Excellent house and facilities and a great location
Great local information was given will try and revisit in the future
Only thing we noticed was that the basement bathroom sink and the main bathroom sink had some stink coming when you started the tap - not sure if it is because the septic is not clean
Brady's Retreat is set on forty-two idyllic acres in the charming Berkshire hills of Western Massachusetts. In the summer months, the Berkshires are a veritable cultural mecca where Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow, and multiple theatre companies offer a plethora of performances for discerning audiences. Multiple museums reveal the Berkshires' rich cultural heritage. The nearby Cranwell resort offers golf, tennis, and spa activities. There are outlet shops close to the house and there are multiple antiquing opportunities. Restaurants abound in the immediate area surrounding the house, including Chez Nous, The Red Lion Inn, and the Blantyre.
