About Tracey Hopkins

This house has been in our family for over 50 years and has been the place where kids learned to swim and waterski. My brother and I spent every summer here and have enjoyed sharing it with our friends and family. This home is very special to us and hope you create as many memories as we have.

Wonderful family vacation

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time staying at this wonderful lake house and our party of nine loved every moment of it. Everything could possibly need for preparing meals was on hand and the outdoor seating is more then adequate. The private pier was so nice the kids found great fun jumping off the end into the cool water. Many great memories were made during our weekend. I'm so glad we were able to book this home.

Needs A Deep Cleaning & Update

  • 2 of 5

We arrived on mothers day weekend with our family only to find that the house didn't seem to be cleaned. If everyone hadn't traveled to get there, I probably would have wanted my money back and went somewhere else. I'm not sure if we were the first to rent for the season or what. I understand that it is an older home and there's nothing wrong with that, but I felt like the owners should take some pride in making sure the house is being cleaned like it's supposed to, especially if your not the one cleaning it. Over all the home was nice, but does need to be updated and a thorough cleaning.

Owner's Response: Hi Candice, I appreciate you reaching out to me after you left that weekend and really wished you had let me know right away if thought the house was not cleaned as I would have had the cleaners come back over right away. As we certainly would have had no issues with making the house right for you. Unfortunately, you were the second renters we had had and you reserved last minute so I was not able to get to the house to check on everything before you came. I tried to set expectations that the house is an old lake house, it is old and has been in my husband's family since the early 70's but certainly has been maintained and has new air conditioning, new decking, new paneling in the living room, new quilts on the bed, new refrigerator, new metal roof, etc. I know we corresponded by email but just letting you know what I had offered still stands, just let me know. It really is a great house on the lake and a hundred families have stayed there over the last several years, including my family, so we would like you to have a positive experience. Just let me know if there is anything I can do for you. Thanks! Tracey

Lake Life is the Best

  • 5 of 5

Our family totaled 9 and we stayed for a long weekend and we loved it!!!! There was plenty of space in the house- didn't feel cramped at all. Everything we needed was provided and in good working order. Our favorite thing about this trip and the house was the private dock and the swimming area was great for my two small daughters!! We literally spent time from sun up until way past sun down on the dock!! We loved it and would love to come back and stay again at this very place. Also loved the fact that a cleaning service was provided; it was nice just packing up and leaving and not worrying about cleaning. The friendly ducks would come visit us each day sometimes two or three times and my children enjoyed feeding them. My husband enjoyed fishing right off our dock and at night was the best time to get a bite!! The fish were easy to catch but very small but still fun! My only suggestion is that the trash can in the kitchen may need to be replaced soon and we did have issues with small black ants that got into our sweets- we had to keep anything sweet in the fridge. Overall I give it a high ranking and it is very family friendly. We loved it and will be back.

White Lake

  • 5 of 5

Our family had such a great time staying in this house right on the lake. The lake house had everything you would need and the owners were so easy with communication. The children as well as the adults enjoyed every minute of the vacation we had at this VRBO at White Lake, North Carolina.......

We spent 2 nights in this wonderful paradise. This was my first time staying in a private house on the lake and it was wonderful. The house was cozy and the owners were great. You can walk out the back door and walk straight to the private dock/pier and then climb down into the water. There were no other people around us and it was very private, which made it that much more fun. We were not far from Elizabethtown, which is where most of the food places were, so it was no problem to just jump in car and go into town. Everything was great and I do hope that I can stay there again. I loved the privacy and being a short distance to the water.

Fun at the Lake

  • 4 of 5

Our group consisted of 13 family and friends. Eight of the group were children ranging in age from 3 y/o to 16 y/o. Everyone had a wonderful time, especially the kids. They were able to play in the water while adults sat on covered dock or sunned on uncovered dock area. The kids also enjoyed feeding the ducks that came to visit every morning like clockwork. House is large and clean. Loved having a kitchen to prepare meals in and still be able to interact with rest of group. Washer and dryer also a plus because of not having to drag dirty clothes home. If you are going this time of year, absolutely cross the road and get fresh blueberries to make pancakes for breakfast. Delicious. We only went out to eat one night and that was to the Front Porch restaurant. It offers a great buffet of home cooked foods as well as choices from the menu. Overall,it was a nice house to stay in especially if you have a lot of kids. Oh,big plus--the showers had great water pressure....adults appreciated this:O) It is certainly a place we would return to in the future if large house needed. Thanks to Tracey and Danny for being so hospitable offering their home as a White Lake vacation site.
