Overview

About the property

Second floor views and privacy

Our unit is on the east end of the second floor of the only oceanfront building. There are two bedrooms, one bathroom, and an oceanfront lanai. It was fully remodeled in 2009. Please note that only in two bedroom apartments is the master bedroom ocean front. Enjoy, like we do, sleeping this close to the shore. As it is on the second floor, privacy is not an issue. Also, because it is the end apartment with added windows in the kitchen and master bedroom, there is increased ventilation and a view of the pool and cabana area.

The ocean is only a few feet from the building. There are visible remnants of Hawaiian fishponds along this shore. Have your morning coffee on the lanai while watching the sun come up behind Maui with the islands of Lanai and Kaho'olawe in the background across the Paliolo Channel. On clear mornings, look for the big island of Hawaii over 100 miles away.

About Debra Attaway

We live in Mendocino county and work in education and legal agriculture (pears, apples, wine grapes and walnuts). We've raised two daughters here and are looking forward to getting our new grandson Liam over to visit Molokai soon. The photo is of Debra on the heiau behind Wavecrest. Wavecrest is at the far right on the shore. Its a good hike up, starting at the dirt road just west of Kilohana school

Debra Attaway purchased this condo in 2002

Why Debra Attaway chose Molokai

We visited Molokai during a three week Christmas holiday in 2001. We were impressed by the friendliness of the family we stayed with and the pace, as we perceived it, of Molokai life. We happened to look in at Wavecrest and took the plunge of buying a vacation home! We come when we can and love to share the place with family and friends.

What makes this condo unique

The resort is on five green, landscaped, waterfront acres. On the grounds you can enjoy a pool with cabana, tennis, two gas barbecues, plenty of room and lounges and tables for just plain relaxing. The pool and cabana are located right on the oceanfront. There is enjoyable walking right out the entrance on the lightly traveled road or trails in the hills to the east of the resort. There are three, three-story, main buildings occupied by mostly seasonal owners. We have never seen full occupancy even in the busy winter season.

This is one of the only shores in Hawaii with a barrier reef. The reef keeps the waves down so there is generally calm water in the foreshore with the constantly changing reef break about one-fourth-mile off shore. From late December to April, Humpback whales return to these waters between the islands. They are often seen right off shore.

Wavecrest Property #469502

  • 5 of 5

I have been staying at Wavecrest on Molokai for many years in various units. This building A unit was very nice. The condo was supplied nicely with all needs, kitchen to bathroom. And it was nice to have ceiling fans since it can get quite muggy in summer months. I recommend Wavecrest to anyone to really enjoy the "East End" island experience. Might be just that my family has lived on the east end for 48 years....

Love this condo!

  • 5 of 5

Third visit to this unit. We love the peacefulness of Molokai and this condo. Comfortable living space, great kitchen, beautiful bath and the most awesome view of Maui across the channel. At night you can see all the lights from the big Maui hotels while enjoying the evening on the lanai. Owners are responsive and thoughtful. Can't wait to come back!

great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

This unit is attractive, clean, quiet, and comfortable. The grounds are well kept. The pool is beautiful, with a full choice of sun or shade. My only problem was that last step getting out of the pool is just a little too high and my knees took a beating! Oceanfront bedroom is spacious and comfortable; no need for air conditioning due to wonderful cross-ventilation. The last day was rainy, which we don't mind, but the road flooded and we almost couldn't leave! (Maybe that would have been my good karma, getting to stay longer!)

quite and comfortable. condo came will stocked for cooking, sleeping, towels for pool

There is a trick to the pool gate - need to left up on the latch. Grill was nice. Lanai attache to condo was wonderful. great view. Only thing that we did not like was smell of cigarette smoke. many smokers in the area.

Made for a very relaxing vacation. Which I think we appreciate even more now that we are home and life gets busy and crazy. Thank you for a wonderful slow pace relaxing vacation. It was really what we really needed. Very friendly island

Lovely location

  • 4 of 5

This was my first trip to Molokai and I'm really glad I stayed here. It was a fantastic location, right off the ocean and near the pool and grills. I like this side of the island because there are so many local residents in the development and nearby. My only complaint is it can be a bit loud in the back room when other residents are watching tv or listening to music, I couldn't close the windows or I'd get too hot. Two nights of the five I had to wait til 11:30 for things to quiet down - not a big deal for me cuz I'm a night owl and I'm on vacation! And I think we caught the housecleaner by surprise, we booked late and so the place was mostly clean but not totally made up (for example one bed had no linens). Overall very small issues. I would definitely stay here again.

Wavecrest is 13 miles from Kaunakakai, and about a 20 to 25 minute drive. As you head east from Kaunakakai you will notice the vegetation getting more luxuriant. By the time you pull off the two-lane road at mile marker 13 you will have entered the 'tropics' and be welcomed by the beautiful landscaping of the resort.

The resort is on five green, landscaped, waterfront acres. On the grounds you can enjoy a pool with cabana, tennis, two gas barbecues, plenty of room and lounges and tables for just plain relaxing.
