About Ian Courage

Hi , I have a big interest in Irish music. I love to travel. I am a soccer coach and spend most of my time at the side of a soccer field. I follow the Gaelic football and love the summer months following Dublin in the championship.

Ian Courage purchased this house in 1995

Guestbook comments from the owner

Ian was incredibly welcoming. Although we didn't actually meet him, he made sure we were able to get into the cottage, and left us the muffins, tea and milk. The cottage was very cute and homely, exactly as described in the listing. When I asked about the linen fee I was expecting I was pleasantly surprised to be told there wasn't one. Ian has also been very kind and accommodating since; one of our group left behind a coat which Ian has found for us and posted back. I would definitely recommend Ian as a host and would use him again without a doubt!

Lovely Rental

  • 5 of 5

Ian's house was clean, tidy and comfortable. It is very close to bus stops and shopping centers. The kitchen is very well stocked and updated for those who like to eat in a meal or two. It easily accommodated our group of 5 adults with room to spare. Our ensuite bedroom was very comfortable and the living area was comfortable as well. I most certainly recommend this home. Ian answered any question I had promptly. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

Practical and pleasent stay at New Cottages

  • 4 of 5

Located not far from Coolock Village, and only a short walk from buses and shops up on Malahide Road, in a quiet neighbourhood.

It contained of a full bathroom with toilet, bathtub and shower, living room and two bedrooms.

The owner, Ian also came down on Friday to help us out the the heat, as it was cold inside the property.

After this the heat was more then sufficient.

A very helpful and he also gave us hints about restaurants etc.

A litte concern: It look like its been a while since anyone else stayed there, because there were a lot of dust on shelves, doorways and on the fridge etc, but nothing that really annoyed us.

All in all we recommend this cottage it you want it to be quiet/Still but still close the city center.

Convenient location

  • 5 of 5

We were a group of 5 adults and 2 young children and found this house to be small enough to be cozy and still large enough to give everyone minimal room/bathroom sharing. Location was very convenient, with bus stops nearby for routes both into the center of Dublin and toward Malahide, as well as being a minimal taxi ride from the airport. Fast food and a grocery store were also just about a 5 minute walk away, which was very handy during times when tired children were jet lagged and not up for much. My children were quite excited that two containers of bubble solution were there to play with, that was a very pleasant and thoughtful touch left for us, as were some basic kitchen staples being on hand (especially appreciated when the time difference had me making pancakes for hungry children at 1:00 in the morning). There were also other homey touches, like books and movies in the living room and a swingset in the backyard (that my children were disappointed they never got a chance to play on between autumn rain and being out sightseeing) which helped to make it a more family friendly stay for us than a hotel would have been. Ian (landlord) was very kind about answering any questions I posed and keeping in contact through e-mail as needed prior to our stay.

Very Nice

  • 5 of 5

Ian was a great host and the property was very close to the bus stops and walking distance to a store for soda, snacks, etc. We stayed with our 3 adult children and their spouses and the house was great for the 8 of us. It kept us more connected than I think 4 hotel rooms would have and was reasonably priced.

no so good!!!!

  • 2 of 5

Last november I was with some friends ( ten people) to Mr Ian cottage for 3 days. We havent't had the pleasure of meet him; he had left the Keys under the mat!!!

The cottage was big enough and comfortable, but uncared and messy. On arrival we found it very cold.

The bathrooms were clean

The wi-fi line has never worked

About the payment, we have been punctual, while for the refund of the deposit we had to call more time.

We are approximately 15 minutes from the airport and if you are interested in getting out in the sunshine, Malahide Castle and its large grounds, golfing, restaurants, pubs and the marina are about 10/15 minutes by bus with Portmarnock which is the next town (about a further 5 mins) along and has a glorious sandy stretch of beach and the PSLC Leisure Centre which has a swimming pool and gym for public use.

There is a leisureplex (bowling, snooker, pool, video games, young kids play place, quasar) which is open 24 hours for all you insomniacs, and cinema across the road from the house. There are grocery shops only 5-10 minutes walk away.
