About Audrey and Matt
Our family of six loves to travel, and when we discovered the vacation home option instead of hotels, we knew we wanted a rental property of our own to share with others. We hope our cottages enhance your vacation like so many homes have done for us. We love meeting and talking with people from all over, so please feel free to give us a call!- Audrey and Matt
Audrey and Matt purchased this House in 2012
Why Audrey and Matt chose Saint Charles
We've always loved Old Town St. Charles because of its charm, fun atmosphere, and historic architecture. When we realized that there wasn't much in the way of lodging for families like ours, or larger groups wanting to stay together, we knew this home would fill that void and would be a way for us to enjoy the area even more and let other people experience it too.
What makes this House unique
The ability to walk out the front door in the morning, eat and amazing breakfast. lunch and/or dinner, shop to your hearts content, be amazed by the history and all the fun happenings, and then walk back to a great gathering place without ever getting in your car.
Please consider the following guidelines when booking this property:

We loved this house It was so cute and had plenty of room for the kids to play, they even had toys. My little guy had so much fun. My girls said they didn't want to leave. It had everything we needed for our stay. We look forward to visiting again.
Guest House Stay
This property was adorable! Loved reading about the history and the location was prime. It was so nice to park and walk to all the unique shops. I found the parking availability was ample. Would definitely book here again!
Great Stay at The Guest House
This property is exceptional. The location is perfect, the house is utterly charming and very comfortable, and the owners are wonderful to book with. I would highly recommend this property to anyone
Very cute house in a wonderful location.
The house was nice but small. Perfect for 4 people but might be challenging for more adults due to limited seating in the living room and kitchen. The beds in the upstairs room were hard and either need box springs or new mattresses. We were in town for a wedding and the location made it a central place for everyone to meet and gather. We enjoyed the local restaurant and being able to browse the shops. Much better than staying in a hotel and I’d recommend it to others.
Hi, and thank you for the review!
This is actually the first time anyone's mentioned anything negative about the beds and bedding at The Main Street Guest House, but we will definitely look into that- we want our guests to be comfortable!
For future guests, there is a couch and sitting chair in the living room, and the kitchen which is attached and open to the living room, has a table with seating for 6-7 more. We're so glad that you enjoyed stay and would recommend us! Thank you!
Great Cottage In A Great Town!
We had a great time staying at The Guest House in St. Charles. The owners completely remodeled this cottage several years ago and did TONS of work. Literally! We loved the spacious master suite in the basement with a jacuzzi tub and walk in shower. The kids loved the very large second story bedroom with built in bunk beds. We only have 2 kids, but there was plenty of room for more.
Main floor has a full modern kitchen with dining area and a living area with sofa, TV and fireplace. It was very charming and very comfortable and we appreciated all the work the owners have done. It is showing some signs of wear, as all rentals do over time, but it certainly didn't affect us enjoying our stay.
The town is great also. It is like stepping back in time. Able to walk to all the shops and restaurants, and a free trolley to take you out farther to more modern areas of St Charles. Huge park/greenspace, bike path and river right out the back door. A fair amount of businesses were not open yet as tourist season is not in full swing. We will just have to come back some summer and experience everything it has to offer.
It is only about a 25 minute drive to downtown St Louis, the Arch, the Zoo, Science Museum and the City Museum. The City Museum is a MUST DO if you have kids, or are young at heart.
The owners are very reponsive and helpful. Thanks Audrey! They also supply the cottage with some snacks, bottled water and sodas. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. We have and will continue to recommend it.
Thanks for playing a part in some great family memories!
We had a Great time!
Beautiful home-close to shops and restaurants! I will definitely be staying here again!
Just west of St. Louis you'll find St. Charles, a river city with a unique historical perspective, beautiful sites, friendly people and a pace just a little slower than that of the big city. Founded as Les Petites Cotes (The Little Hills) by French Canadian fur trader Louis Blanchette, Saint Charles, MO grew into a thriving riverfront trading center for a young America.
Thousands passed through on their journeys westward, replenishing supplies before departing into new territory. Saint Charles is a source of historical encounter: the Lewis and Clark Rendezvous, Missouri's First State Capitol, origin of the Boone's Lick Trail and home to Daniel Boone.
The people of St. Charles have labored lovingly to preserve and share its treasured river heritage. As destination for almost one million visitors each year Saint Charles history comes alive to welcome you.
You'll find St. Charles offers first rate vacation with over 150 restaurants to choose from, and so many things to do, you may have to come back to try everything.
Experience the charm and beauty of a city that has been welcoming visitors since 1769.
