About the property

5 Bedroom, 4 Bath Home Located In A Beautiful, Mountainous Neighborhood

Town of Estes Park Vacation Home Business License #1185.

This 5 bedroom, 4 bath home is located in a beautiful, mountainous neighborhood at the base of what is known as 'Old Man Mountain' It is just 5 blocks or 1/2 mile from the west end of downtown Estes Park, and only 2 blocks to the river walk trail that goes through downtown all the way to and around Lake Estes. It is also close to the north entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park.

The interior of the house was completely remodeled in the spring of 2013. It has all new cabinets with stone tile countertops, all new appliances, all new tile, fixtures, and faucets in the bathrooms, and new bedroom carpet, and hardwood floors in the kitchen, dining room, and living room. Besides being very tasteful, the home has a warm, cozy, mountain feel to it.

The property has a hot tub that seats 6 people, has 38 jets, underwater lights, bucket seats, foot jet and a lounge.

On the property are mature ponderosa pine trees and some truly amazing rock formations that provide wonderful privacy, play and family photos. The deck on the back side of the house is surrounded by rocks and trees and invites a peaceful, quiet outdoor living experience.

Old Man Mountain is a popular hiking area close to downtown Estes Park. It is one of the oldest and largest sacred Native American sites in Colorado. The area has many sloping rock walls and ledges, which offer access to the top. The view of the Estes Valley is well worth the hike/climb.

About Mick & Judy Scarpella

Hi, we are Mick and Judy Scarpella, the owners of the home at Old Man Mountain. In March 2012 we were blessed to find this magical property but it needed some major attention. So, we spent four long months tearing everything out and putting it all back new. Then we added a Family Room. The end result was better than expected. We love to come here and hang out when it is not rented. Old Man Mountain feels like home with the added serenity of wild creatures that seem to feel as much at home on our property and the surrounding area as we do. Just today, we were getting ready to go home to Fort Collins when I walked out the garage door and found myself staring at a six point Bull Elk munching grass. We have a pesky little pine squirrel living under our storage shed. I named him Sam. He showed up as a baby when I was doing the remodel and made me laugh. Now I threaten to transplant him because he chews the new growth off of our ponderosa pine trees. I also love the wild turkeys. They march through like they own the place and look at us like we are a nuisance. Judy and I grew up in Fort Collins, Colorado so Estes Park and RMNP have been in our blood for a long time. I (Mick) have spent many days--and nights--on the high mountain walls, ice falls and steep snow slopes along the continental divide. Look up from Estes Valley, you will see those black walls and near vertical snow slopes. You will also see the climbing areas of Lumpy Ridge, the Craiges and the rugged east face of Longs Peak, referred to as 'The Diamond'. One would be hard pressed to find a place amidst this natural beauty where I haven't stretched myself on something scary. Now I enjoy hanging out at Old Man Mountain with Judy. Drinking a cup of coffee in the morning while looking out the dining area window or sitting on the deck makes both of us grateful for our Estes home. The only enhancement we need is our grandchildren climbing on our rocks, filling the air with laughter.

Why Mick & Judy Scarpella chose Front Range

We looked at seven or eight properties on the day we started our search for a second home in Estes Park. We came back to this one because it felt right. We could look past the needed remodel and see the potential. But it was the property that really drew us. The rock formations, the old growth ponderosa pines and Old Man Mountain rising up across the street felt like it had history with a sense of permanence.

Everything you need and more

  • 5 of 5

This house is adorable, it's in a lovely location, and our hosts are very responsive. I had a really hard time getting out of bed each day because the beds are so comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with all the supplies we needed to cook elaborate dinners for our group. Every room is tastefully decorated and darling. Also, I'm pretty sure everyone in our group agreed that the hot tub was the best hot tub we've ever been in.

The house is located a short walk to the free shuttle that will transport you anywhere in Estes. On one of our drives down the short hill, we came upon a whole herd of elk grazing in the creek below. Other wildlife is everywhere and we loved looking for critters with our kids while enjoying breakfast on the deck.

Mick and Judy are fantastic hosts. They were quick to answer questions, solve any ptoblems, and to return our deposit. I highly recommend this gem of a home in Estes Park.

Room for Everyone

  • 5 of 5

The perfect size and location for a great Estes Park getaway. There was room for all 10 of us, even at the table. We enjoyed our own meals from a kitchen with all the pans, tools, and table settings you would need. NOTE: This facility is equipped for infants: a pack n' play and hi-chair. With the youngest of our number in a stroller, we took an easy walk into town. On the way we encountered a free concert and a lovely path by the river. We had reservations at the Lazy B Chuckwagon, which was an easy walk as well. The little kids, and big kids, enjoyed climbing on the huge rocks right outside the front door. What a great modern home with that rustic, mountain cabin feel, but with king-size beds! We were sad we stayed such a short time. You couldn't do better if you have a group of 10 -12 people, with plenty of room to hang out. (The pictures on the reservation site are accurate; if anything, the rooms are larger than they appear.)

Thanks for opening your vacation home to renters.

Great for our family!

  • 5 of 5

I cannot add much to the five star reviews already written. We had seven adults and two children, 4 years and 1 year. The children loved being outside on the boulders and their having that activity really helped the rest of us enjoy our stay and relax on the deck. We also had turkeys walk through one morning. The house has everything you need to have a wonderful vacation and Mick and Judy were very nice to work with. Our entire family is looking forward to another stay at this house in the future. Thank you Mick and Judy.

Fantastic Property!!

  • 5 of 5

This is a great house. Its location is just a short walk to downtown Estes Park. Everything about this house is all you would expect and more. The kitchen is extremely well stocked - better than any other house we have rented. The layout is excellent. There is plenty of room and separate areas so you can have your own space or come together with as a group. We had absolutely no issues at all with anything in the house. The hot tub was a nice amenity. We loved our stay! We will definitely book this house again when we return to Estes Park. The owners really have done a great job with this house and were wonderful to work with. You will not be disappointed if you stay at this house!!

Lovely stay in Estes Park

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a great stay at this property! The house was clean, well-appointed, and in a beautiful location convenient to downtown Estes Park. There was plenty of room for 10 adults. The owners also let us check in a couple hours early, which we really appreciated!

Great house for families!

  • 5 of 5

Great location in a Quiet neighborhood. Met a nearby neighbor who was very friendly and had great suggestions for places to go. The grounds of the property was perfect for the kids to explore. 3 year old & 18 month old loved climbing the gigantic boulders. The deck and grill were great. Loved getting the kids to bed then eating out on the deck. Outside table accommodated all 8 adults. The floor plan worked perfectly for our family - 4 couples & 3 young children. The rooms were furnished Colorado Classic and were comfortable. And the house was clean upon our arrival - very important to us. The kitchen was stocked with Wine opener(thank you) and baggies for our Picnic Lunches & treats. Wish we could have stayed longer.
