About the property

2 Bedroom, 2 Bath Oceanfront Home with Views of Local Surf Break

Welcome to the ShellSeeker, a luxurious, very private oceanfront home perched on an elevated bluff overlooking Camel Rock, and the Trinidad Coast. The 180 degree view encompasses miles of sweeping swell lines, Trinidad and the harbor lights, and distant Humboldt County shorelines.

Experience true Humboldt County Coastal Living, and enjoy the Redwood Coast in first-class style. With the ShellSeeker as your base camp take the opportunity to discover a hidden side of Humboldt. The ShellSeeker is spacious and efficient, yet elegantly simple. There’s a view of the surf from every room, a well-equipped kitchen, deluxe bathrooms, and pillow soft queen beds. Study the sea from the bluff, the sofa, the kitchen or the master bedroom's built-in and roomy window seat.

Without a doubt, the ShellSeeker’s claim-to-fame is the birds-eye-view of the surf at Camel Rock, Trinidad harbor and its privacy. From the moment you open the door to its breathtaking views, an air of peace and tranquility surrounds you.

No noise here. Just sounds of the sea, the bell and whistle buoys in Trinidad Harbor, or the ocean breeze. Few neighbors and plenty of boat or RV parking. The interior design of the home is elegant and comfortable with high-end finishes everywhere you look. The open living room includes a fireplace, premium sound system and a large flat-screen TV.

The kitchen is outfitted for 8 and stocked with plenty of cookware, spices, and appliances (and a vita-mix juicer) to inspire even the most modest chefs. Locally roasted organic coffee is always kept stocked.

The bathrooms are like personal, mini-spas. The master includes a blue-water and horizon view from the jacuzzi tub, walk in shower, with heated floors and towel rack and premium finishes. No details were left out by the designer.

You can’t escape the ocean’s grip from any room of the house. Even on a chilly summer day just pick a room, grab a blanket, and cozy up next to the window and watch the whales pass by, the surfers down below, or the fishermen troll up and down the coast. You can see the lights of Arcata and Eureka to the south and clear down to Cape Mendocino on a good day. To the North, Trinidad Head frames in the Bay and Harbor view. Enjoy a fresh salmon barbecue from the patio as you unwind from an evening surf or sunset walk on the beach.

Or if you are a surfer, you will appreciate witnessing how the tides influence the break and knowing when the time is right to paddle out. Be the first in the line-up, or wait until moments before sunset to have the waves all to yourself.

The ShellSeeker sleeps 4 in beds and includes 2 extra fold-out sleeping pads.

Please call us before booking to confirm reservations. Hope to see you soon.

Million Dollar View Plus Best Designed/Maintained Home We Have Stayed

  • 5 of 5

We stayed a week and could have easily stayed a month. Great to escape the summer heat. We had six adults--4 in the house at night and 2 in small RV outside.

This is the most amazing 2 bedroom property we have ever stayed (30+ VRBO rentals). The views of Trinidad Bay, Camel Rock, and Moonstone Beach are spectacular from the cliff top backyard, the living room, master bedroom and kitchen sink. Lots of outdoor furniture to enjoy the views. The house and views are even better than the great pictures provided by the owner.

The house is very quiet but it is within half a mile to Highway 101 which makes getting everywhere a breeze.

Barbara, the homeowner, is incredibly easy to deal with. She lives in the house during the winter months and gives it tender loving care. She has prepared the best brochure on the house and area recommendations. She is full of great recommendations on the fabulous sights and activities within an hour of the house.

Great kitchen. Well stocked with everything. Loved all the spices and extras. Had all the dishes, glasses and cook wear and outside gas grill that anybody would need. We did not eat out one night!!

Living room was extremely comfortable with beautiful wood burning fireplace for those cool days on the coast. Be prepared for several foggy days

The dining room table. None of us had seen the great design. Good for 4 people and easily expandable to seat 8 people

Laundry service was great idea. They pick up, wash and fold the clothes and deliver back the same day!!

Everybody in our group wants to return for a longer stay next time.

Activities not to be missed

Arcata farmers market on Saturday AM

Beaches down below the house, especially at low tide. Agate beach at prairie creek state park about 15 minutes away is terrific.

Hike the Redwoods in every direction. We did Humboldt state park this trip

Go fishing out of Trinidad. We caught great fish for 3 meals--go early in your trip

Go horseback riding in the Redwoods at Redwood National Park

Hike Trinidad Head

Pick blackberries everywhere.

My family (two adults, two young children) loved this home. The house was very comfortable and clean, and the view is stunning. We prepared most of our meals in the well-apportioned kitchen, and used the house as our base to explore the coast and the redwoods. The owner was so very helpful, providing recommendations. We could not have asked for a better base for our Northern California vacation.

Feel like home!

  • 5 of 5

The ShellSeeker made us feel like home during our vacation and it was the perfect place for a getaway. We were there during Christmas holidays, and the house was decorated with Christmas lights and we even had a Christmas tree.We immediately felt welcome at the ShellSeeker.

Upon entering the living room, the ocean view unfolded before our eyes in the living room and the view was so beautiful. The house was very clean and well organized. Barb was very accessible with quick responses when we needed her help or had questions. The kitchen was well equipped and I was able to cook dinner on the first day without any inconvenience. We enjoyed the fire place with the crackling sound and smell of burning wood....

I already miss the hummingbirds, robins, and so many pretty birds in the backyard... The ShellSeeker is definitely a place we would like to return to, and enjoy another vacation.

Wonderful Stay!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were on a cross country road trip and spent 4 relaxing nights at ShellSeeker. When we walked in, my husband actually turned around and came back out thinking we were at the wrong place it was so beautiful! The views were beautiful, the house unbelievable and Barbara was a help from the time we started looking for a place to stay until we left. We have never used VRBO and were so pleased with how smoothly everything went. As someone else said, the only bad thing was having to leave! Happy travels everyone!

Simply Amazing

  • 5 of 5

We arrived at ShellSeeker after dark so we were able to enjoy each aspect of the property as it unfolded before us. First was the house itself. So beautiful, clean, and organized. I would think of something I needed and thought surely they wouldn't have that only to go look for it and Barbara had thought of that thing!! She has prepared a rental that caters to all of your possible needs. The kitchen is actually a joy to cook in because of how it's organized and the view from the window. In the morning there was fog but the yard is so pretty even this late in the season. But once the fog rolled away you are just left speechless!! What an amazing view!! This is a place that if you just stayed here for the whole week you would feel like you had an amazing vacation of rest and relaxation. But it doesn't stop there because you have your pick of beaches to visit - our personal favorite was Moonstone Beach. So pretty and only 5 minutes from the house. Add onto these things the closeness of all the hiking you can do among the Redwoods and you will have just about the most idyllic vacation destination imaginable. Barbara is extremely helpful as well. If you need something she is there to help. I can't imagine other places having such a person who truly wants your stay to be completely stress free. I just wish there was a way to award ShellSeeker with more than five stars because it certainly deserves it.

Rugged beauty with all the creature comforts!

  • 5 of 5

How do you top the rugged beauty of Trinidad, Ca? You stay at the shellseeker while visiting! This home could not have been any better. The location and the view from this gorgeous home were simply incredible. We wanted for nothing here, as the house was so very well appointed. We have used VRBO before when on vacation, and your home was the best property we have stayed at. If you are looking to be pampered, this is the home to stay at while vacationing in Trinidad. We will be back!
